That was stressful.

I feel like I should be blogging about the Wall Street mess, but I have sort of lost interest. There is nothing I can do, and after several weeks of studying it I came no closer to understanding it beyond a superficial level. So, instead, I am going to give you this thread.
Plus, Steelers tonight.

Make it 3-0.
4:25 pm- I guess knocking your opponent out is one way to force a fumble.
5:50 pm- Steelers are looking pretty damned flat, and I see WVU is not the only team out there that refuses to tackle.
7:06 pm- I have not seen our o-line look this bad since the days of Leon “Swing Door” Searcy, when he would stand at the line of scrimmage and wave the defense through like a matador. My brother even called him Le Leon.
Not Dukakis
This is not Michael Dukakis, worried libs:
BTW- Did you know that we now are major sponsors of Manchester United. I had a roommate from Newcastle, so I was always a Newcastle United fan, myself. This was back in the days of Andy Cole, and I still know the cheers:
Andy Cole! Andy Cole!
It’s Andy, Andy Cole.
When he gets the ball he scores a goal,
It’s Andy, Andy Cole.
I guess now that we are on the hook for AIG, I will need to learn some new cheers.

I really can’t describe how much I hate the Cleveland Browns. I know that I hate the recent Ravens teams more, and that is in large part because the Ravens were the Browns and Ray Lewis and the rest of those crooks , but still to this day, I have a visceral hatred of the Browns. It comes from the gut.
When I see someone wearing a Browns jersey or a Browns cap walking down the street, I will cross the road so I don’t have to go near them. When I see someone wearing a Browns jersey or a Browns cap, the first thing I think is that they must be stupid. There is something wrong with Browns fans.
I was at the last Browns/Steelers game on a Monday night at Three River Stadium in 1995 before Art Modell moved them to Baltimore. I remember before the game, there were lots of folks in the parking lot from Cleveland, and they wanted us to show solidarity with the Steelers and turn our back on the field to show solidarity with the Browns. It sounded like a good idea when it was suggested, and who couldn’t help but feel a bit sorry for them- they were having their team stolen. Besides, half of being a Steelers fan is hating on the Browns. Modell was stealing from me, too.
And then I went into the game, and I saw those shit brown uniforms with orange helmets and the old familiar hate bubbled up and when it was time to show my solidarity with them the only thing I could think was:
“Screw the Browns. Screw their fans. Screw their shitty, dirty, little city. Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of people.”
True story, although I may not have said “screw.” I feel the same way tonight. GO STILLERS!

Ok, people. I really don’t hate Browns fans, this was what is known as game-day trash talking. I really don’t hate the city, I don’t cross the street, etc. Jeebus.
Although I will tell you who I do hate. The Eagles. I hate their fans. I hate the city. I hate everything about them.

Made it back in time for the 2nd quarter.
For the first time that I can remember, Tunch is not angry at me for having left him alone for two days. He will probably attack me in my sleep.

A nice win.
Do the meatheads on the CBS post-game show have enough lapel pins on? Another piece of flair and they will be ready to work for Chotchkie’s.
Cowher looks like he has a serious illness.
Go EERS!

Worst officiated game ever so far.
That was not a fumble.
That was not pass interference.
That was a hideous spot on 4th and 1. He made no forward progress.
There should have been offsetting penalties for the personal foul.
This is just terribad officiating.
*** Update #2 ***
Well, you can blame the flat start on the refs, but we just got our heads kicked in today, and were terrible in every aspect of the game. Our suspect secondary is no longer suspect, and is just bad. We can not tackle. Our offensive line was blown off the ball the entire game. We put no pressure and our defensive line might as well have been drinking margaritas on a beach somewhere.
This is not to say that this was all WVU being bad. As bad as we were, ECU was good. They played a solid, physical game, and are clearly a team on the rise and one worth watching. If WVU is in the top 25, the voters are on crack.
As a side note, I am now officially a beer snob. Drank a couple local brewed nut brown pale ale’s, which had a decent taste but a finish that evaporated like seltzer water. Then had a Sam Adams, which is swill. Then tried a Bass, and hated it (and yes, I have had it before). I am going to go out on the town and try to find a decent drink after I shower.
