I can’t vote for Joe III — I’m not in that district — but I think this is just a great ad, and wish there were more Democrats framing arguments like this. (JKIII is JoeII’s son, Bobby’s grandson; if he wins, he’ll be taking over Barney Frank’s seat in a slightly rejiggered district.)
Also, Mr. Pierce has a mordantly funny post about Joe’s feckless Repub opponent.
Speaking of mordantly funny, commentor PirateDan linked to RepublicanJobCreation.com: “The GOP, keeping millions unemployed to put one man out of work.” May be NSFW, if your boss or mom spots how Mike Stanfill has altered the postage-stamp-sized GOP logo…
And to calm any morning jitters, Greg Sargent reports (via Taegan Goddard, via Mark Halperin) on how the Obama team views the final stretch:
… Chicago remains sufficiently funded and emboldened by its own polling to compete for the final two weeks in all nine of the battlegrounds: Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia in the South; New Hampshire in the North; Iowa, Ohio, and Wisconsin in the Midwest; and Nevada and Colorado in the West. As they have in the past, Obama campaign officials say they expect to win a high percentage of those states and conceivably could sweep all nine.
When pressed, the Obama officials with whom I met said that five of the nine stand out: Nevada, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, and New Hampshire. In that quintet, Democrats believe the combination of their current leads in polling, early voting (where applicable), and ground game makes their chances of winning even greater there than in the other four. And given the Electoral College math, unless Romney picks off one or more of those five states, Obama would win a minimum of 281 electoral votes and re-election.
Meanwhile, early voting is underway, and as Molly Ball reports, more Dems than Republicans have voted in Iowa, North Carolina and Nevada. In Ohio, more votes have been cast from areas that Obama won last time than from Republican ones. Also important: The Obama team believes the early voting foreshadows a diverse electorate. Campaign calculations show that two thirds of those who have voted early are women, young voters or minorities, and that voter registration has gone up the most among Latinos and African Americans…

Mad props to Wonkette‘s Doktor Zoom for a brilliant summary about the sorry state of “Ghost Breitbart’s ‘Happy Cult’“:
As we all know from the plot of virtually every big Hollywood gangster movie ever made, when there’s a gang of loutish thugs and the head lout is removed, the remaining loutish thugs invariably turn on each other in a frenzy of loutishness and thuggery. This is apparently what is going on at rightwing internet concern Breitbart.com following the sudden death of Andrew Breitbart on March 1 of this year, according to this juicy Buzzfeed story by McKay Coppins, which says the late lout’s “web empire” is now “plagued by an unusual degree of disorganization and rampant infighting as his disciples battle for ownership of his legacy.” Golly. No one could have seen THAT coming!…
Actual quote from an actual former Breitbrat:
“We were running a kind of happy cult when Andrew was in charge, and when Andrew died everyone had an incentive to spin what they thought he was up to,” said one former employee. “If he knew he was going to die, I’m sure he would have called a dinner the night before and given us the tablets or something…. But he didn’t.”
The original Buzzfeed article (in case it’s blocked at your company, or you have some kind of principled objection to political journamalism supported by kitten videos) contains a wealth of he-said, they-said details, plus a photoshopped Last Breitbart Supper which is moderately hilarious but probably not something you want to click on while eating. Probably the key to unraveling the whole mess:
One pressing consequence of the company’s organizational challenges: Questions from inside the organization about how the finances are being handled. Shortly before Breitbart’s death, Bannon helped bring in $10 million in capital, which was meant to fund the site’s relaunch and expand its staff. But when Breitbart died, he left a wife and four young children who could benefit from a financial return — and two sources familiar with the situation say the widow has been asking about the money….
This hasn’t exactly been the greatest year to be a leftist, but at least we can feel secure that Andrew Breitbart is still dead.

My apologies- I forgot to put this up earlier even though I was watching the damned game slaughter.
In my defense, I was cooking a later dinner. Found some beautiful lamb shanks at the grocery, seared them, then threw in a mirepoiz, some mushrooms, some potatoes, a shallot, some tomato paste, a little red wine, and some beef broth, and slow cooked it for a couple of hours. We’re eating it right now and am in heaven. Also too, got a bottle of Hendrick’s, which I think is the best gin on earth in that price range.

What’s on the agenda for this midweek evening?

Just got off the phone with mom and dad, and he seems in good spirits. Since the thumb went through the wood chipper, there was nothing to reattach, so he just had plastic surgery to fix the rest of the thumb. They couldn’t save the knuckle (and I guess what use would a knuckle be with no thumb on the other side), so he now has a nub. They have him pretty medicated, so I doubt he will be in pain for a couple of days.
The good news is that his heart has to be ok and completely recovered from his mild heart attack in January, because if anything would give me a heart attack it would be losing my thumb in a wood chipper. I just refuse to have power tools like that or circular saws or chainsaws within 100 yards of me, for obvious reasons.
Thanks for all the nice thoughts in the previous thread.

Apparently he was cleaning the yard and somehow cut off his thumb down to the first knuckle in the wood chipper. Mom, my sister, and everyone had been frantically calling me for three hours, but I had my cell phone turned off. I only found out when my sister tweeted me and told me to call mom.
At any rate, he is heading into plastic surgery right now, so think happy thoughts for him.
