Drunk, nicotine-deprived, anti-mask rage-baby picked the wrong flight crew to abuse:
Flight attendant explains what he did to stop the unruly passenger:pic.twitter.com/rUxQY6W89s

The duct tape sound effects were particularly enjoyable. This flight attendant should be on all the planes.
UPDATE: The commentary section of the video is a spoof from a comedian. But there really was a drunk idiot who got duct-taped to his seat.

I say we bring back the mile high club.

Hahaha. That flight attendant is a hoot. I can’t believe that’s not an actor.
Calmer tiki
I believe that the flight attendant is a comedian. But I still love the video
Baud
@Calmer tiki:
Ah, thanks. Nothing on the internet is real. Still funny.
Betty Cracker
I don’t know if the commentary part of the video is for real — it seems too good to be true. I want it to be real! But the incident depicted at the beginning did happen on a Florida-bound flight. The guy was duct-taped to his seat, and the flight attendant who taped him up was put on paid leave pending investigation.
germy
He’s a very funny comedian. His catchphrase “Hold up, wait a minute, something ain’t right” appears in every video. Check him out on youtube as “The Real Spark”
He pretends to be various characters involved with current events, being interviewed by the MSM
His latest was the xmas tree fire:

I think the sad part for me is that if a bunch of liberals were acting like this, all of us would feel the brunt of the criticism. Being conservative is like Teflon. No one wants to call them out for the behavior their culture spawns.
Baud
@germy:
“I need to take my headphones off so I could see the tree.”
Hahaha.
WereBear
@germy: He IS very funny. I enjoyed his verbal re-enactment :)

Good editorial in today’s NYT:
I might quibble with framing the Manchinema problem as a Democrats problem, but the editorial outlines the magnitude of the threat, calls out Republicans for causing it and accurately sums up what needs to happen to address it. This editorial almost makes up for the annual and very tired-ass Maureen Dowd’s Republican brother column takeover.

They can show their serious with a public apology to Hillary Clinton.

@Betty Cracker:
and the flight attendant who taped him up was
put on paid leave pending an investigationrewarded with extra vacation time. I recall hearing of such an episode this year during peak antimasking idiocy season.Betty Cracker
@prostratedragon: I feel for anyone who’s in a customer service job these days. Lots of rage-babies out there on a hair trigger.
Geminid
@Betty Cracker: I don’t follow main stream media much, and op-ed pieces hardly at all. But to the extent that I do I get the impression that the Republican threat to democracy is getting more attention lately. It seems the January 6 Commitee will start public hearings this month, and that may help make the threat more manifest. It sounds like Commitee staff and members are designing the hearings for maximum public impact.
Betty Cracker
@Geminid: I also get that impression. I mean, if the Beltway media circus wants drama, and we know they do, what could be more dramatic than a deranged cult trying to end American democracy? Looking forward to the 1/6 committee holding public hearings again. Maybe it’ll wake more folks up.

In my neck of Chicagoland (couple miles east of Sox Park, roughly) we got snow at the low end, only 2-3 inches, but internet router is fibrillating as it often does in inclement weather. The wind was pretty high, only quieting down to the usual 10mph in the last hour.
Geminid
@Betty Cracker: The Orlando Sentinal editorial about DeSantis, that you linked to in your Twitter account, was very powerful. I hope it gets wide circulation.
Another Scott
@Betty Cracker: Thanks for the excerpt.
I wonder who they think that “we” is though. Why, it’s almost as if they think they are above it all and have had absolutely no role in the way history has turned out.
Grr…,

WaterGirl
That guy was laugh-out-loud funny! What a great way to start the day.
WaterGirl
@Geminid: Thanks for calling attention to that. I went looking for it. The whole thing is really good.

@Betty Cracker: Our front desk person who answers the phone and dispatches service crews says people are a lot ruder and more hateful now than ever before. She says by every Friday she’s ready to quit.

@Jackie: Do you have a “Reader” view in your browser? Safari does, so you just click that and can read all the text of the article.
I can’t imagine that other browsers don’t have something similar. In the meantime, the first few paragraphs…
Jackie
@WaterGirl: Thanks! I’ll take a look see?
I do! Thank you!!!

@Another Scott: Yep. I don’t even have to look. I know to a dead nuts certainty that the FNYT is running front page articles on failures of Democrats and Biden that are actually problems birthed and nurtured by the fucking GOP. Actually, can we name a single national problem NOT caused and made worse by those assholes
ETA: “those assholes” being equally likely to mean the GOP or the FNYT or both.
Jerszy
Thanks for the comedy video that was big news – last August.
WaterGirl
@Jerszy: It was news to me! I thought it was hysterical.

If they tape a bunch more assholes in their seats, this stuff will come to a stop. I would love to see this.
JaneE
As humorous as the duct tape incident was, it is a shame that the most powerful tool flight attendants have to deal with unruly passengers is a roll of duct tape. Sad as it is, they need access to restraints to use on passengers when necessary.
I haven’t flown in over 2 decades, but back then things were a lot different.
Ruckus
@JaneE:
I’ve used lots of duct tape in my job over the years and even done poorly, with a modicum of duct tape used, that person is going to be rather securely affixed to that seat, and I imagine they duct taped his mouth as well, to shut him up. Which, with any amount of stubble would be far worse taking it off. And taking it off in any event would be less than an enjoyable bit of his life. Someone like me with a beard? Yeah you don’t want duct tape anywhere near
Also 2 decades ago there were still some flying on planes that made less than friendly skies. Just not as many and just not as much of assholes.
