I love Lily. Steve reminds me of a childhood yard cat my dad adopted to rid our corner lot of dogshit. His name was Henry Herbie and touching any part except a small patch between his ears was asking for big trouble.
Woke up to 58° and the rain has long since passed. But the temps will steadily drop today and we’ll have snow starting in the afternoon. The prediction is for barely an inch, but warm temps in winter have lead to the biggest snowfalls later (Big Snow 1967, Blizzard of 1979), so I’m hoping history doesn’t repeat itself.

Hope all our Jackals in or near the paths of these tornadoes will check in when they can and let us know they’re safe.

(CNN)At least 50 people are likely dead after a tornado hit southwestern Kentucky late Friday, according to Gov. Andy Beshear.
“We know that we are likely to have more than 50 deaths, if not significantly north of that, from this event,” Beshear told CNN affiliate WLKY.
I woke up very early and watched a few hours of the CNN coverage. Really scary stuff.

@raven: Local news is reporting that the death count will be over 100. As of now, it appears that our storms will not be as severe.

@JPL: Yea, we’ll probably not see the worst of it.

The city of Mayfield, Kentucky was hit particularly hard, including a candle manufacturing factory that was operating at the time the twister hit. There were 110 people in the building at the time that it was nearly collapsed by the tornado. Dozens are expected to be lost from there, Beshear said.
@JPL: An Amazon warehouse is being called a mass casualty site near Edwardsville IL too. Might have been 100 people inside when the roof collapsed. Hope tornado sirens went off in time for them to shelter.

@satby: The extreme weather patterns are becoming the new normal. Just so sad.
Do you have really heavy fog? I can hardly see the security lights outside my window. Better than tornadoes, though.

JPL
@SiubhanDuinne: Foggy but not heavy. I can see my shed in the back of the lot. I am going to make sure that everything is charged before the storms move through.

@raven: I’m reading about a tornado on the ground from Arkansas thru to Kentucky. 220 miles on the ground.
