Trump’s lawsuit got randomly assigned to a judge who has said “there must be consequences” for Jan. 6 defendantshttps://t.co/JGey25JCIj

I keep setting posts about the 1/6 Investigation aside, because there are so many moving parts involved. And we’re handicapped, because Democrats by definition are not the ‘Punishment First, Verdict Afterwards’ party. But I continue to hope for retribution…

From the Moscow Times:
… The Russian billionaire also reportedly had close ties to Paul Manafort, the former campaign chairman for Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential bid, and his name surfaced during the probe by special counsel Robert Mueller into Russian election meddling.
During the 2016 campaign, according to court filings, Manafort offered Deripaska briefings and polling data on the presidential race, making the offer through Manafort’s former business partner and suspected Russian intelligence operative Konstantin Kilimnik.
Manafort was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for financial and other crimes but was pardoned by Trump before he left the White House.
As always, Ryan J. Reilly’s twitter feed is an excellent source for the latest updates on the Insurrection prosecutions:

OT——–Is this happening anywhere else?
In Tulsa now it is very difficult to find an apartment a duplex or a house to rent. It is claimed that the reason for this is that approximately 80 Afghan families will be moved soon to Tulsa.
This claim implies that the landlords are just waiting for the families and——maybe hoping to get a higher than normal rental amount. Or this seems to be the implication!
Is this happening any place else——–or or being claimed to be happening????
RSA
@SiubhanDuinne: That is a scary video. I’ve seen the still photographs, but they don’t convey the tension and aggression of the insurrectionists [ETA: nearly as much].

Rookie mistake by Trump’s lawyers. Need to find a venue to file in where the judges are a lot more amenable to your crazy. That judge in Texas comes to mind, the one who ruled the entire Affordable Care Act unconstitutional. Or file a sufficient number of complaints in the New York District to be sure you’ll get a judge you like, then voluntarily dismiss the rest of the actions.

@Ladyracterinok: I haven’t heard of any such thing, and it kind of beggars belief, to me. Tulsa has over 400,000 people, yet 80 families needing homes are going to wipe out all the empty apartments and houses? I mean, a quick peek at Zillow shows 136 houses for rent currently, and that’s probably just the city proper, and doesn’t include apartments.

@Gin & Tonic: Good time of year to be here (San Diego) … but then, any time of year is a good time to be here. Salton Sea is, indeed, nasty, and not worth the trip. @Ladyracterinok: Realtor.com certainly doesn’t support such a claim and, based on earlier responses, the claim of little or no rental inventory sounds spurious at best. I set $1250 as the high end for rentals, and 2 BR as a minimum as filters.

Before anybody else says it: Yes, it would have been nice to show women on American currency decades ago*, and yes, the use of cash is being phased out so timing sucks a bit, and no, we still don’t have Harriet Tubman replacing Andrew Jackson on the $20 (although I believe that’s been returned to a front burner) — but I’m pleased about the American Women Quarters™ Program and plan to buy an album and collect the whole set. Symbolism is important.

@Goku (aka Amerikan Baka): Chappelle’s ignoring African-American transgenders is particularly disgusting as they get the brunt of anti-trans violence. He’s trying to stick a “race traitor” tag on a group already subject to far too much brutality a discrimination.

@Goku (aka Amerikan Baka): Also, many trans people don’t undergo gender reassignment surgery, which is to say there are many trans women who don’t have pussies, and many trans men who do. Here’s a cool thing: Evidently there are geothermal power generating plants in the Salton Sea area that use brine pumped from the deep from which they extract heat. Well, that brine also contains lithium, which is being developed as a source for lithium battery production.
It was an ancient dry sink until a 1905 irrigation canal failure release Colorado River water and filled that sucker up. What one should do today WRT keeping it a viable lake is a tricky thing, given water demands elsewhere.

Near one such power plant, just south of the Salton Sea, was the first and only place I’ve seen burrowing owls. They stand outside their burrows during the daytime. This was mid 1990s, when the water didn’t stink but the fish were gone; don’t know if the owls are still there. Salton City was very weird; even then; drove in in the evening at the town was having a pot-luck on the shore (which according to google maps has moved a bit).
