It’s been more than 10 days since we have had one of these, so we may have to play catch-up on some recent shots.
Let me know what stickers you would like!
Oh, and 3 new stickers for you:
Odoroki and Himesama, and Ric:
Nancy Smash and Dr. Fauci:
Henry, Samwise, and Baby Champ:
otmar
Tomorrow evening I will accompany my kids to the Vienna conference center where they will get their second shots.
Then my family will be completely vaccinated.
WaterGirl
@otmar: That’s great news, otmar!
Baud
@WaterGirl:
How are you feeling today?
MomSense
@otmar:
YAY!!
NicaKnit
I’m a long-time lurker, happy to report that I now have both shots (Pfizer)!
I live in Central America (Guatemala and Nicaragua), where it’s been difficult to get access to the vaccines–and where there was access, it was mostly to Sputnik V. I ended up getting my first shot in Houston, and just this week got my second shot in Toronto.
I had originally planned to get my second shot in Houston on my way back to Nicaragua at the end of August, but decided to try to get it sooner so full immunization would kick in before traveling again. Checking pharmacies here in Toronto led me to the Toronto Public Health office and ultimately a once-a-week pop-up clinic linked to a needle exchange program seeking to help folks on the street get access to vaccination–they needed extra people to get jabbed so no doses would go to waste. It was pure luck, since we happened to stop by on the day of the clinic, and it turns out it was the clinic’s last day, as it seems everyone they serve who wants to get a shot has already come in.
I would like a Katalin Kariko sticker, please!
Dalai Rasta
Ric’s face looks so much like my Bella’s, with the exception of her missing eye.

All very cute stickers, but “Camp” for Champ?
frosty
California has a site where you can retrieve your vaccination info digitally. Since we got our second in Twentynine Palms, I checked it out, They had Dose#1 listed; they didn’t have Dose #2, but they had a procedure to ask them to update it. I went through it, not too difficult and I’ll hear from them in 2 or 3 weeks. It could be useful for traveling etc.

Here’s the WaPo article. There’s some other useful stuff there too.https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2021/07/31/covid-vaccine-card-phone/

@otmar: Awesome!
I await impatiently approval for younger kids so that my youngest can get it.
WaterGirl
@Baud: Same. I had my best friend over on Tuesday evening – on the porch, at a distance except for when we were both getting our pizza from the table.
She texted me the locations and times to be tested at the University this weekend, so I took that as an indication that she would like me to get tested to know for sure. So I took the test this morning.
WaterGirl
@NicaKnit: So pleased at your good fortune on the timing of the second shot!
WaterGirl
@debbie: Kids 12 and over were just getting vaccinated, so we did a few especially for them and the young at heart. Perhaps MazeDancer thought Champ looked campy in that photo!
debbie
@WaterGirl:
I missed this, but hope your test shows nothing.
debbie
@WaterGirl:
?
Baud
@WaterGirl: Ok, good. It’ll be nice to know
ETA: I hope HIPAA allows you to tell us the results.
zhena gogolia
@WaterGirl:
Fingers crossed.
Reposting this from below because it has made my morning.
WaterGirl
@Baud: Your crack about HIPAA made me laugh.
germy
I had both pfizers back in March/April, and now I’m wondering if I’ll be requiring a booster.
raven
@germy: I’m hoping I will!
Betty
I had high hopes that I would have had my second dose of Astra Zeneca by now, but, sorry to say, when I went to get it, I was informed that they don’t have any more. Hope to get a batch sometime,maybe in a month. So for all those in the US spurning the vaccine, I am sending a big wet raspberry!!?
zhena gogolia
@Betty:
Yeah, I wish my goddaughter in Madrid could get one of those yahoos’ shots. I hate these people.
StringOnAStick
Sad to say but I’m growing increasingly nervous about being around kids that I know aren’t vaccinated, so anyone under age 12 basically. Once school starts this fall its going to roar through these kids and their families. Of course the surrounding wing nut counties around here have banned mask mandates in the schools. That should go well.
MazeDancer
@WaterGirl: @debbie
Since, for many kids, the best thing about getting vaccinated was going to camp, used Champ as a play on words. A joke kids might like.
Interestingly, immediate family members being able to go to sleep-away camp turns out not to be a significant demographic among the BJ readership. Or they liked another sticker better.
debbie
@MazeDancer:
Sorry for misunderstanding. My sticker was baby Champ, so I do love yours, even if I missed the point!
sab
@StringOnAStick: Ohio legislature was considering banning masks. Akron and Cleveland public schools basically announced that they don’t care, so masks will be required. Thank God.
Nutmeg again
I don’t even know anyone in the USA who is unvaccinated, thank goodness! My kid in Germany and her partner just got their second doses of BioNtek-Pfizer about a week ago, however. Hooray!!
Mary G
Still waiting to hear about the teen. His mom was going to go with him to make sure that the needle got into his arm but would have to bring her dementia patient along with her so who knows if it worked.
WaterGirl
@Mary G: There is an I Got the Shot! thread waiting for you when you get the news.
If the teen snaked out of it, there are also consolation stickers:
° WTF?
° WHY?
° Why so hard?
° Make it happen
But I hope you don’t need them!
debbie
@Mary G:
Make him show you his vaccination card.
WaterGirl
@debbie: Trust but verify. :-)
Skepticat
Finally—veni, vedi, vacci. Got my second shot Wednesday, setting my Pfizer to stun, and this time I had almost no reaction, not even a sore arm. Naturally, this made me worry that perhaps it wasn’t kicking in properly, as it seemed too easy. In any case, I shall be be wearing a mask for quite a while, as delta seems to be ready whether or not we are. Any sticker is an honor.
Mary G
Better late than never, the teen got the shot, mom took a picture, I saw the card, he is sulking despite her buying him lunch and new shoes, now he has an appointment for 8/21 to get the second shot.
I know the “my house, my rules” is specially for me, but I would also like Nancy Smash putting on her glasses, because that is how I feel.
WaterGirl
@Mary G: Steve has marked 8/21 on his calendar, so the teen had better not even think about backing out. Because if he does, Steve will want to have a word with him out back.
Betty
Doses done. How about some ducklings?
WaterGirl
@Betty: I know you just asked for ducklings, but Henry insisted!
