Quiet here at Chez Mara. Much quieter than on this blog. Looks like the last one is filling up so here’s a fresh new open thread and some cats.

I saw your post last night. I’m glad you gave us a glimpse of your mom’s life and I’m very sorry for your loss.

Not so quiet here because my new-ish kitty (almost 4 months together) learned to tell time very quickly and knows that as it’s getting near 6pm, that means dinner time, and she starts yapping at me to give her meats. It’s kind of amazing, really, because she knew what time it was before the clocks went forward and after, even though it was dark at this time a couple months ago and now it’s broad daylight. Cats, man.

Such sweet-faced coworkers you have ❤️

Interspecies throuple! Apparently someone came home to discover that their cat decided to have her kittens in the den where the duck and a hen were already sitting on 22 eggs. https://twitter.com/chuchukelso/status/1397056798360670209

@Feathers: Cat looks delighted with her selection, and the fowl approve too.

Your kitties are always so gorgeous, rue! So glad you have them.
Both are quite popular choices for the stickers in the shot threads!
edit:
OT, but I am closing the computer for the night, so I’ll just leave this reminder here.
If you want to join the zoom with FOUR DIRECTIONS and haven’t RSVP’d yet, send me an email. The zoom is tomorrow night (Wed, 7:30 blog time). We have about 20 RSVPs so far, I’m guessing we’ll end up with about 25 BJ peeps.

This seemed really good. Caught the end of it last night.
Book Passage: author talk; Carol Leonnig interviewed on her new book about the Secret Service, Zero Fail. Youtube; program starts about 3 minutes in. (Bad audio, apparently, with the introduction.)
Book Passage (bookstore) has done a lot of excellent virtual author talks this pandemic. You should sign up and browse their archive; just about all of it is free.

So I was going to photograph the lunar eclipse tomorrow morning. Checked the weather yesterday and Lockwood Valley looked good. Twelve hours pass and Lockwood Valley and every other dark place have cloud cover. No eclipse photography.
If it looks good here when it’s happening, I might drive up to the housing development up in the Verdugos, but I’m bummed, I had some interesting ideas.

@?BillinGlendaleCA:
Weather and astronomy, sometimes it doesn’t work out.
For that solar eclipse a few years ago, we drove into western Kentucky, had a room at a nice hotel up on the Ohio river.
Then the morning of the eclipse we drove down south into the band of totality. There were a few clouds, but over all good visiblity. We stopped at a wide spot beside the road, and some folks who had driven all the way south and east from St Louis because of the weather joined us. Some had flown thousands of miles to make the show!
I had two bottles of champagne on ice, which we all drank after the action was over. Was great! Traffic was jammed up all over KY that day!!

Ruemara, I went back and read your last night’s post. Just beautiful, heartfelt writing. We are never old enough to be a motherless child. I am sorry for your loss.

@?BillinGlendaleCA: why bother? Elon Musk’s satellites will ruin the photos anyway!

You have great looking co-workers ruemara!
