@ruemara: Oh yay, rue! Very exciting. I’ll give you all your babies now, and you can come back for more stickers in a few hours!

Got my second Pfizer shot this morning! Making choo-choo motions with my shot arm to ward off discomfort. Working so far.
I’ll take a little black kitten and a Madam Veep. Nice combo.
randy khan
I may be the origin of the error here, given what I posted when I got my first shot, but we’re actually over 50% of the adult population; it’s around 40% overall. Still a big milestone, though, given that under-16s still aren’t eligible (although they should be very soon).
WaterGirl
@Steeplejack: I assume you meant Champ and not Mr. Bear, but let me know if that was wrong.
WaterGirl
@randy khan: I clarified that up top, thanks!

I got the second shot this morning. Woof Woof!

My #2 is not until tomorrow morning, so I’ll wait for your next pass.
Given vaccine supply, we can probably have our 73%* of adults fully vaxxed by end-of-May.
If I understand correctly, Pfizer has already submitted for its EUA for ages 12-15; Moderna is slotted to follow in mid-May for 12-17. We might well be vaccinating ages 12+ starting in July; at least High Schools could get back to ‘new normal’ for fall.
*Ahem. The 27% are crazy, stupid, &/or tribal Republicans.

@catclub: I know, and it’s so unfair. Not to mention wrong. we need competent leaders who are not right-wing crazies.

Got Moderna #2 yesterday evening. May I please have Steve? I’ve got about 5 weeks to go before I see my daughter from San Diego for the first time in over a year.
WaterGirl
@rikyrah: You are always so nice to say that!
WaterGirl
@Chief Oshkosh: What sticker?
Dan B
We’re both weeks after Pfizer 2. Tomorrow we’re having friends who are also post #2, well, he is 12 days but we’re not much risk because masking. But OMG WE HAVE TO CLEAN HOUSE!!!! Tired after 30 minutes and seems like there’s 14 hours of cleaning since we also redecorated, new stove*, veggie seeds starting, garden projects, etc. How did we manage with socializing and trips plus projects and socializing. It’s like being 12 months since the gym of life.
*Thank you economic rescue moolah!
Have had several stickers thanks. Throw a neglected one if need be.

Shot #2 done. I am Übermensch.
germy
After shot #1, I felt slightly groggy for a few hours. Arm slightly sore.
After shot #2, no grogginess, no sore arm… nothing.
I want some mild side effects, dammit. I want to know this thing is working.

Ontario lowered the minimum age for general vaccination to 40 so my wife just got her first dose of AstraZeneca today. I am a year older so I was able to get my first dose a couple of weeks ago.
Now trying to figure out when we can get our second doses.
(Also, I have to go in for a colonoscopy in a couple of weeks. I’ve had one before so I know what to expect but I can’t say I’m looking forward to it.)
Tom Levenson
I got my second last week, as noted in a prior thread, but what floats my boat today is that my 20 y.o. son got his first (House Pfizer) yesterday, the first day on which he was eligible.
Yippee! We are five weeks away from being a fully vaxxed + 14 household!
Enderville Phantom
I was not as thrilled about the second dose as the I was the first where I walked into an available vaccination appointment while running errands, “Dose of Pfizer back of store. Check in at drop off area.” I had not received a call or email, a reminder for the second dose from the grocery store pharmacy like I should have. I inquired on Friday and was put on hold. I was in the system but not in the system. The elevator music played until someone came on the line to say, “Monday at 3:30 pm.” A bit of a fever and sore arm today. Two doses done now. Part of the apprehension on acquiring came from the fact I had driven to another part of the state the first time and thus a return trip needed. Red counties don’t want the shot I guess. Co-horts receiving Pfizer the same day as I were two twenty-somethings in food service.
What made me decide to vaccinate? Peer pressure same as some other co-workers. “Do it to see your mom again.” One explained. “I want to travel to Texas and be safe.” Another commented on why they signed up for a shot. “Now you can go to Canada whenever they open the border.” The nurse said to me.
Steve here.

I got my second Moderna a few hours ago at Gillette Stadium. I have a long backlog of things to do starting in two weeks…

I love these vaccination threads. Even though I’m fully vaxxed, I always drop whatever I’m doing at work and scroll through them to cheer myself up. Actually, at this point at the 11th hour and 57 minute point in my career, I drop whatever I’m doing at work for any number of reasons. But these threads are one of the defensible reasons.

I’d like a 2 dose Tikka please, am now even post quarantine! (but on-call so not celebrating til the weekend)
buggrit
Could I have ducklings and WTF, please? Here’s why: I got my 2nd Pfizer April 10. Yay! Then on the 16th, day 2 of a planned 4 day weekend, I received notice of possible exposure April 11. I tested negative, thank goodness, but health department says quarantine anyway, and I aim to follow the instructions.

I got my second pfizer this morning.
May I please have a PELOSI SUNGLASSES & SMILE DONE sticker?

Our household is officially vaccinated. I just got back from taking my 21 yr old to get her shot.
Honestly my oldest (24) will get vaccinate when she can walk into a clinic and get the J&J shot without an appointment. She had an appointment for her first shot this past Sunday and no-showed. We worry but at the same time we realize there ain’t shit we can do about it.

@Enderville Phantom: Don’t give up!
WordPress remembers people based on a combination of screen name and email address.
Your original screen name was “The Enderville Phantom” and it remembered you for months.
So far in April you posted as:
“Enderville Something I dunno”
“That Enderville person from before”
and today you tried “Enderville Phantom”
Every time you use a slightly different name, WordPress thinks you are a new person, so your first comment has to be approved manually before any of them go through.
Unless you post in private mode or you don’t allow cookies, every device you have posted on should remember your screen name. So maybe pick one of these and make sure you comment from all of your devices with that same name, and you should be good to go.

@catclub:
Most of the maps, charts and tables I’ve seen show percentage of total population, where nobody is above 50%, and only a few states are within range of it. (Also, you have to distinguish between the one-shot maps, charts and tables and the fully-vaccinated maps, charts and tables.) And, of course, except for Texas, most of the laggard red states are thinly-populated. New York and New Jersey more than compensate for the Confederate states, and California way more than compensates for Idaho and Wyoming. But no doubt there are red states lagging badly.
WaterGirl

These threads are so full of happy! Thank you Water Girl for taking the time to post these threads so regularly and for adding so many awesome stickers to each and every one. It must take you hours each day. You are the best! ?
My husband and I have been fully vaccinated for over a month, so no stickers needed. We got ours in thread #2, I think.
Currently we are in a mad rush to play catch-up on all the in-person medical and dental appointments we have been avoiding for the past year. We are exhausted from the driving to and from all the appointments, plus eye surgeries for my husband. But we are trying to get them all done before taking that sweet road trip to visit our youngest three grandkids. (10, 8 and 3). Soon. Soon. I can hardly wait.

Yay, celebration time! Today is the day I marked on my calendar as “Immunity Day”, two weeks after my second Pfizer shot. Scheduled a massage appointment for Friday (they are also vaccinated) and I am so excited! (Already had my stickers, but if you’re handing out extras, I would love a Nancy Smash).

Will be fully invested in House of Pfizer as of tomorrow. Just this last week as I was waiting to be completely baked, it occurred to me that until now I had not deep down actually believed I would survive COVID-19. Now that it’s highly likely, it feels a little like an existential quandary: Now what am I going to do with the rest of my life?

Got darted with Pfizer The Second on Saturday. Sunday was a sluggish day with a sore bicep, otherwise just dandy.
Tikka if you got ’em, por favor!
WaterGirl
@buggrit: Ugh. It seems like 5 days to find out you were exposed is longer than it should be!
NineJean
I will have had my 2-week quarantine tomorrow morning after my second shot. I actually spent yesterday with my bro & SIL (both vaxxed), which the FIRST time I spent casual/social time in 13 months, 10 days and about 2 or 3 hours. (Not that I’m counting, of course).
My bro & sis actually lives next door to their youngest kid, whose spouse and two little ones live with her. Which is hard, given that they are anti-vax, anti-mask, totally pro-party sorts of folks. I haven’t seen the older great-baby since she was.. (see above), the younger one was born on 3/13/20, so I haven’t met her yet EVER.
Talked a bunch with bro & sis, and finally decided to wait a couple of weeks, more or less, to see the babies. Hate that, but given the parents’ lifestyle, it’s perhaps the safest way to go. So didn’t see the babies! Even though they were next door…
Given that, could I maybe have a Champ stamp, just as consolation?
Damien
I got my second one with no serious side effects! No ER visit this time, and barely any arm soreness even. I’d love a Biden and a Pelosi, pleeeease! :D
Hooray for doing my part to end the pandemic!
Ken
Wait, are there new vaccine side effects? Are we in (another terrible remake of) I Am Legend?
WaterGirl
@Princess Leia: Come back for your sticker tomorrow!
In the meantime, I gave you Penelope to hang out with.
WaterGirl
I think I sticker everyone who wasn’t just chatting in the thread. If I missed you, or if you want a different sticker, chime in!

@Ken: I’m still mad I Am Legend strayed so far from the story. The original story is really good. There was even a fantastic comic adaptation of it I’d recommend to practically anybody.

THANK YOU!!!!
Didn’t mention, actually, that I’d done a two-dose thing, plus, now, the two weeks quarantine (I think, anyway).
Know for sure that I didn’t mention that I’d lost my lovely kitty on April 4; she died from lymphoma. Thus wanting Champ.
so once again, THANK YOU!!. I can spend the evening crying much less miserably tonight.
MisterForkbeard
@NineJean: I’m so sorry! I have a 19 year old cat that I’ve had since college, and I really worry about her constantly. We’ve had a couple of near-misses with her, and I can’t imagine how much that hurts.
Hugs for you.

I got the first Pfizer shot last week on 4/14. I crave a Badger as a sticker.
Actually, (I feel John Cole’s exasperated breath on my neck) I was really planning to get a shot back in early March, when the county started making them available for 74 also rans like me, who just weren’t 75 or older and in dire need, but I’d stalled just a bit too long. Shortness of breath, lots of coughs — of course I’ve got COPD so that was kind of par for the course — but also chills, aching muscles, joint pains, head aches (I never get head aches!) … Two weeks of that with two weeks of sluggish recovery. No formal diagnosis, but from what I take from the internet it seems to have been a “light” case of COVID-19. Not something I’d recommend to anyone, but anyhow it’s academic now. Still, I think it rates an extra sticker — a nice picture of an indignant donkey perhaps, or the hind quarters of a horse.
Carry on with your Good Work!

WaterGirl, I love reading through these Got the Shot posts every few days and seeing who all is now immunized, and the stickers they choose! Thank you so much for all your work and creative ideas!
Also, aside from the pandemic, what a difference in the overall happiness level between now and the past four years.
WaterGirl
@stinger: I appreciate your kind words!

Pfizer one is done! #2 scheduled!May I have the Samwise sticker? The household cats approved it.
Rob
A little over an hour ago I got my second Pfizer shot. No side effects so far, obviously.
While I was in the ‘waiting room’ for the 15 minutes post-vax I saw a soaring bird that looked like it could be a young Golden Eagle, which in my county would be remarkable in winter and even more so in late April. Sadly I didn’t have binoculars but I did spend some time standing in front of the windows hoping it would circle back.
I’d love it if you could give me the duckling stickers, WaterGirl.
Rob
@stinger: I agree (happiness level)!
Manxome Bromide
Got my first dose of Moderna this week! Side effects were a sore arm at the “pulled a muscle” level of pain for a few days, and three nights of disrupted sleep schedule (sometimes insomnia, sometimes out like a light for 12+ hours).
Baby Champ, plz!

There is a newer I Got the Shot! thread up.
