The Government Accountability Office has issued a damning report about Ivanka Trump’s Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative. https://t.co/5fxEoUA0xt
— POLITICO (@politico) March 31, 2021
Our very serious Presidential Media doesn’t understand administration or accounting any better than Jarvanka… but piles of poo, *that* they feel fully qualified to report.
We’ll be cleaning up after the Trump Crime Cartel for the next twenty years (assuming the world doesn’t change out of recognition in the meantime), and there’s a nontrivial percentage of Our Failed Media that will never understand why, much less how.
Today, Biden’s dog pooped on the floor and a GAO investigation reported that Ivanka’s $265 million pet policy project was a catastrophe of planning with no clear execution.
Same-same. https://t.co/JJ7i7OyGQF

We have officially had more coverage of Major and Champ misbehaving than of private email use in the Trump administration. Almost as though the idea that email use was the single most important thing in the world was reporters being very well-trained lapdogs of the GOP. https://t.co/aRU1N70Ppc

Gaetz has a major minor problem, while Biden has a minor Major problem.

Let’s see what, if anything, DOJ decides to do with that GAO report.
cain
I find it funny that the dogs are more covered than anything else – I assume wall to wall coverage of Major at Fox News instead of Matt Gaetz.
ETA: #2 thank you for this honor. It’s been so long since I was able to get this. Tonight, I will sleep the sleep of the just. Thank you, thank you everyone.

I have an appointment to get vaccinated on Tuesday at Levi’s Stadium. No idea which one it is, but I think it’s either Pfizer or Moderna because I think they mentioned scheduling the second one.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@burnspbesq: I think the press is more interested about what DOJ will do about the dog poop.
Roger Moore
My personal feeling is that the big issue is that the media has a target amount of space for scandals, the same way they have a target size for their sports and business sections. If an administration is especially scandalous, the result is less attention being paid to each individual scandal rather than spending more time on scandals in total. If an administration is especially clean, smaller and smaller events will be exaggerated into scandals and more attention will be paid to each one rather than devoting scandal space to something else.

The dogs are being framed, prove it wasn’t one of the reporters….

Still waiting for the day Ivanka is criminally charged and her defense is some version of mental incapacity due to being molested by daddy.

@Parfigliano: I think you can bookmark this.

My husband thinks that the whole Gaetz expose is part of Dick Cheney’s revenge on Gaetz for trying to mess with Liz and running his mouth off in Wyoming.
frosty
@Felanius Kootea: I forgot that it was Gaetz who did that. I think your husband is on to something. How will we ever know?
smike
@sukabi:
I would love to see Psaki respond to a “reporter’s” question about the dogs with the following:
“We sense the urgent concern of the press on this issue, so the President assembled a team of forensic experts to watch and analyze the footage from every single White House security camera, as well as have the “evidence” collected and analyzed genetically, extracting DNA sequences and comparing them to each dog’s DNA. At this time, the leader of the forensic team reports that after a combined 128 hours of study, they have thus far concluded: “He’s a very good boy. Yes, he is. A very good boy.”
We will certainly keep you apprised of all future developments on this evidently very, very important story.”
sukabi
@smike: that will probably happen. Give it a couple of weeks. ?
James E Powell
@smike:
I read a great description of Psaki’s facial expression when she is listening to one of those RW talking point questions:
She looks like a mother who is listening to her teenager ask permission to sleep over a friend’s house when she has already talked with the friend’s parents and knows they are going out of town.
smike
@James E Powell:
Oh, she is a joy to watch. Chef’s kiss finesse!
Anne Laurie
That could be true — it’s the sort of thing for which Cheney was notorious.
Or it might be a total coincidence — Gaetz has made any number of enemies — and either or both of the Cheneys would be more than happy to take credit for it, because that’s also the Cheney Way.
Comrade Colette
@Origuy: Hooray! I have an appointment at Kaiser in Richmond on Sunday for my first dose; I don’t know if it will be Moderna or Pfizer, but if it’s a first dose, I guess it must be one or the other. It’s a bit of a drive from my home in San Francisco, but well worth the trip. It took a couple of hours of clicking around to find an appointment closer than Sacramento – which I would have done, but glad I don’t have to.
That light at the end of the tunnel? Is actually the end of the tunnel.
Ruckus
@frosty:
And why would we care?
Brachiator
@Roger Moore:
The dog poo stuff is not a scandal. It is totally trivial. I can’t recall any similar story about any past president. This crap reminds me of the British tabloid press, and Fox News, which loves to run an endless stream of low key negative stories about designated celebrities or political figures.
The point is to always have some negative item out to distract or counter positive coverage from other news outlets.
NotMax
@Brachiator
Insurrectionists take a dump in the Capitol. Pooch takes a dump in the White House. Both sides.

@Felanius Kootea: Oooh, I hadn’t thought of that, but I love it. It fits with Vice’s killer personality.
I have to say the Matt Gaetz ongoing saga is my favorite news story right now. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. He is both an asshole and apparently dumber than a box of rocks. I have heard two different lawyers on MSNBC sound incredulous that he doesn’t get a lawyer and just STFU.
Matt also makes a nice distraction and contrast to the George Floyd trial. I can only bear to read and watch excerpts since each new witness and piece of testimony makes what happened even more heartbreaking and tragic.
Joey Maloney
A beautiful example of Psaki’s take-no-
shitprisoners style in this exchange with Douchey Jr. starting at about the 18 minute mark in yesterday’s press briefing.Steeplejack (phone)

@NotMax: Democrats condemn protesters when they smear feces on Capitol walls but say nothing when Biden dog takes a dump on White House carpet. 25 ways this spells trouble for Biden’s agenda.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Kathleen: The Former Guy called the White House a dump, Biden’s dog takes a dump on the White House carpet…BOTH SIDES!

@Kathleen:
It says something about the Biden administration, doesn’t it, that its only controversial figure so far is Biden’s dog.

@Amir Khalid: Haha!
That brought back memories of a fabulous spring exhibition that Macy’s put on in the San Francisco store, maybe in 1993? They built bridges inside the ground floor connecting all of the cosmetic islands, with bicycles parked on them and flower baskets with tulips and daffodils and other flowers hanging off the sides of the bridges, as a tribute to Holland. They were selling clogs and we bought each daughter a set. They were in 4th and 8th grade, and they enjoyed clomping around the house for a while. They outgrew them and I wanted to hang onto them but somehow they got lost.

Maybe dad Cheney will find it in his heart to go after Marjorie Taylor Greene and/or Jim Jordan next. Both have backgrounds that are worth of NYTimes treatment.
David ? ☘The Establishment☘? Koch
@JPL: It’s an open secret that Dick Cheney was a master at leaking to the press in his various capacities from Gerald Ford’s chief of staff to Secretary of Defense to Veep.
I’m sure he told Bill Barr not to quash the investigation or he would implicate him.
Cameron
But was any poo transported across state lines?
mardam422
Biden’s dog shit on the floor.
The last guy shit all over everything.
Which one to report on?
Kathleen
@David ? ☘The Establishment☘? Koch: I never thought I’d have “Rooting For Dick Cheney” on my Reincarnation Bingo Card.
