Got mine this morning! Seriously, the easiest shot I’ve ever had. Virtually painless, over in less than 2 seconds. Got my 2nd scheduled, cannot wait!
Tom Levenson
I am so hoping I can get Baby Champ next week.
Congrats on your access to stickerdom!
Spanky
At the risk of repeating myself yet again, I’m three weeks from my second Moderna, Mrs. S just had her first Pfizer, and we’re both impressed by the organization exhibited by our little county, Calvert in MD. Both of us are scheduled mid-April for our respective #2s.
And yes, the pace locally has picked up dramatically in the past 58 days.
Jackie
I am officially vaccinated! Two weeks ago today I got my 2nd Pfizer vaccination. Time to go grocery shopping IN STORE – properly masked up, of course!
Old School
Congrats to all who are either partially or totally completed with their shots!
I’m eligible starting on Monday. We’ll see how long it takes to find an appointment.
Yutsano
@Tom Levenson: I’m getting baby Champ tomorrow! Tikka a month later. I’m scheduled for Moderna.

Has anyone come up with a word yet for the dread we introverts are feeling knowing that we’ll soon have to interact with other humans again?
brendancalling
I forget if I mentioned it, but I got mine (the J&J) last Friday. Saturday was no fun, but I’ve felt worse. By Sunday afternoon, I was feeling fine. Small price to pay for protection from the ‘rona.
zzyzx
I got my second shot on Monday, which also was the last good day for my beloved 18 year old cat Last Cous. It’s like she knew her work was done.
Old School
@zzyzx: Congrats and sympathies.
planetjanet
Watergirl, was that your first or second shot? And which sticker did you select?
Burnspbesq
Second dose (Pfizer) in three hours, at a CVS 45 miles away,
MattF
Me too. J&J last Friday, so a week from official immunity— tho data says immunity continues to improve through four weeks, at least.
Geoboy
@Spanky:
Big change in the last 58 days. Hmmmm. What happened 58 days ago that might explain that?
MattF
@CorgiMum: Yeah, me too on that one. I’m steeling myself for the perils of more than one trip to the supermarket per week.
cintibud
Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since my second Pfizer shot – fully vaccinated!
David Hunt
Got the first shot on Tuesday. Really looking forward to having a sort of normal life, again.
Captain C
WOOHOO!!! I got my first (Moderna) last Friday, second is 3 weeks from today. Only a sore shoulder for a couple days for me. I got it at one of the mass NYC vaccination centers, which was amazingly well-organized.
WaterGirl
@Tom Levenson: Baby Champ is quite popular
P.S. I didn’t mean that I just got the shot, I was thinking more of it as a “I Got the Shot!” thread for everyone.
Catherine D.
@CorgiMum: I’d like to know that word as well. I never want to shake hands again or worse (*shudder*) cheek kisses with my European colleagues.

My second vaccine was February 2nd, and still haven’t ventured out much. I did get my hair cut and that was a real treat.

My son (the other twin) got his first Pfizer jab on Saturday, up at Moscone Center in San Francisco. Since he’s a grad student who TA’s classes each quarter, he qualifies as a teacher. He’s so relieved to be on his way to be vaccinated as one of his housemates works with immunocompromised patients, and my son has been getting CoVID tests each week to (hopefully) make sure he doesn’t bring the virus into their house… Moscone was very well organized a&d efficient. Parking in the city, the only issue…
I think is his style… Thanks, WaterGirl!
Xentik
I got my second shot a month ago after lucking out by getting a shot that was going to be thrown away. That second shot packs a wallop–I spent a day feeling miserable with chills–but it’s great not having to worry quite so much about COVID now (although I’m still socially distancing, wearing a mask, etc.)
I have to say that while I expected competency from the Biden admin on vaccination, the progress that’s been made is well beyond even my most optimistic predictions. I was really skeptical that we’d hit the 100million mark in 100 days, and here we are blowing past it at 58 days in.
WaterGirl
@Burnspbesq: Yay! Come back for your sticker!
This thread will be in the sidebar for whenever folks get their shots.

Still waiting here in Nova Scotia. Cases are low but I’m still ready to get the vaccine. Willing to do my part for the herd. ?
can I get the Eagle sticker?!?!
Betsy
Dose 1, Moderna, 16 days in, zero noteworthy side effects —just the slightest lymph node effect on the side that was doses. Gimme that gray kitteh!
indycat32
Today is two weeks since my second Pfizer shot. Tomorrow, Planet Fitness here I come!! I had no side-effects from either shot, not even tenderness at the injection site. What if it didn’t “take”?!!
May I have Champ kitten, please.
ALurkSupreme
My spouse and I got our first dose of the Pfizer vaccine here in Athens on Wednesday.
We can go in for the second dose in about three more weeks.
Nothing else to report, really. We had no reactions to the shots, although the second Pfizer dose is the one that leads to far more reactions, from what I’ve read.
MisterForkbeard
Good for you all! I’m jealous – mid 30s IT worker in California and have no path to getting it yet. Just gotta wait, I suppose. :)
Sister Machine Gun of Quiet Harmony
Next week for me!

Got Pfizer #2 nine days ago – what a relief. Tikka, please
ETA – no side effects other than slight pain for a day touching the injection site.

Congrats to all. Still looks like shots will be after May 1 for us healthy under 65 Oregonians. Fortunately COVID incidence remains low in Oregon.
feebog
The missus and I both had our shots last month. Just scheduled a lunch with four former colleagues, two are full vaccinated, one was scheduled for his first shot today, the fifth does not have an appointment yet. All from SoCal area. Hopefully we should all be vaccinated by the end of April when we sit down for lunch.
WaterGirl
@zzyzx: Tikka for your sticker, Steve to console you. I am so sorry about your kitty.

@Old School:
Good luck with your search! I’m also eligible starting next Monday, in Alabama. The health department is already taking appointments for my class and the earliest available was June 10th, so I took it. Also signed up for waiting list from the local hospital and there are approximately 55,000 people ahead of me on that list. I plan to keep searching for an earlier appointment as more retail pharmacies start getting vaccine in the coming weeks.
WaterGirl
@planetjanet: I would, of course, have chosen Henry. Or one of the other adorable critters.

@Betsy: I think you meant Samwise. Or maybe Baby Champ?

Love seeing folks getting the vaccine. All of us benefit from that.
AliceBlue
Mr. AliceBlue and I just had our first Moderna jabs a couple of hours ago! A totally pleasant experience at a local family-owned pharmacy about 8 miles away. They had already taken our information over the telephone when I made the appointment so there was no waiting. No side effects yet.
A Henry sticker for me, please!

Might look up industry you are in. This week management at the place I worked forced HR, kicking and screaming, to write us letters explaining we work for a medical device manufacturer are therefor on the early list for vaccination.

Scheduled for Pfizer #2 this coming Tuesday. So, just a few days to go…
Went on campus this morning for, among other things, the regular screening test. Talking with a couple of the staff running the screens, they suggested I plan to take Wednesday off, or at least only schedule work that can be delayed if needed, just in case. Seems sensible. I had a very minor reaction to the first shot (about a day’s worth of upper-arm soreness), and we’ll see what happens with #2.
raven
I’m more than a month past the second shot. We had a gambling event for the tournament the other night and I was fully prepared to mask up but the other people said they had either been vaccinated or had the covid and recovered.
laura
Spouse and I got our first Pfizer jabs and we’re back on April fool’s for the second. May I please have a Samwise?

Got me Moderna shot #1 this week. Had a pretty unpleasant next day, severe headaches, blurry vision. Think spring allergies are not helping. All better now. Give me a Dolly Parton as she is the best celebrity person ever.
The Very Reverend Crimson Fire of Compassion
Got my second dose of the Moderna on Feb 11th. Like others here, the second dose trashed me for about 36 hours–chills/fever/aches, the whole 9 yards. Totally worth it. Still masked & distanced, of course. I would like Handsome Tuxedo Boi with “2 Doses Done”, please. And thank you.

I’ve had worse side effects from tequila shots…

Bagel J
Got the Johnson and Johnson jab on Wednesday. Can’t wait for the two week mark so I can get a haircut. It’s been over a year and boy do I look shaggy. Had mild flu-like symptoms for about 24 hours, but nothing severe. Did call out a douchebag who, at the clinic giving Covid vaccines, had his mask around his chin. Me: “Sir, can you please fix your mask.” His response, “Mind your business!” My response, “Pretty sure not getting Covid is my business.” His reply, “Mind your damn business!” I tried to use my privilege for good (I am a cis-straight, White, male), but there is always someone else who uses their privilege for bad. Ugh! Still, having the shot on board and knowing that we are on track to get every sane adult vaccinated by the end of summer is pretty cool.
Doc Sardonic
Scheduled for first Fauci Ouchie/Pfizer on Tuesday, Fauci Ouchi part deux 13 April. Florida vaccine allocation is dumber than shit, but it is to be expected with our dear Governor Fuckwit, bless his little pointed head. Have to drive to Tampa on the other end of the I-4 corridor since shots are scarce on my end of it, oh well, that means Cuban cuisine al fresco so not a bad trip. Also recommend vaccine finder.org to get an idea where shots and vaccine type are available.
maeve
Ist shot (Pfizer) last week, second scheduled April 2. Virtually no side effects from 1st shot.
I’m in Alaska so everyone’s eligible now – I signed up for a mass vaccination clinic back when 50+ with 1 medical condition was eligible and it wasn’t hard to sign up.
My 64 yo sister in Texas was able to get her 1st shot (Moderna) but only because her daughter helped her get on Slack to find a group which posted tips about which pharmacies had shots and when new batches were dropped then she got online at midnight and tried 3 or 4 pharmacies – going through the whole sign-up until the last page when appointments were no longer available several times before scoring an appointment at a Walmart pharmacy 1 hour away. My 85 yo Mom in Texas got her 2 shots (Moderna) a while ago because she lives in an independent living apartment complex – so far no one has had any significant side effects.
Samwise please!
WaterGirl
@Bagel J: I hope you gave him the Daisy glare.

Got my second Pfizer yesterday. Arm’s a little sore and feeling a little low energy, but that’s it so far.
Tikka sticker please!
WaterGirl
@Doc Sardonic: Congratulations. Come back for your sticker Tuesday.

Posted this yesterday on previous tracker.
Wife and I got ouchie number 2 Thursday (moderna).
Walmart.. they were pretty good. Actually was a steady line today and it moved pretty quickly. They have been getting a lot of no shows. They called us and told us to come in early.
Friday update – roles are reversed .. after shot 1 I had very sore arm and wife had little reaction. After shot 2 (so far) I have slight pain in arm and wife is in bed (she never does that).
Woof Woof again please.

Speaking of vaccines, this is a transcript of an interview with Derek Lowe that goes into vaccine production questions in detail.

shot 1 on Tuesday, big time nausea overnight… so perhaps I already had waded thru being infected unknowingly… shot #2 first week of April. I’d like a #1 Samwise please..
Geeno
Scheduled for Tuesday morning. I will be sure to keep everyone apprised.
Nicole
Got the shot yesterday! (I would like the balloon with the blue background, please).
I know I had Covid in late December and as of Monday still tested positive for antibodies, thus my immune system was revved up and ready to go and so I feel like crap today. Husband also feels like crap, but worse crap. We get our second shots in mid-April (Pfizer).
Worth it, but I think I’ll go lie down.
Dan B
Got first Pfizer on the 14th. Second in one week and 14 hours.
Me counting? Shirley, you jest!
Is Kamala a ‘one done’ sticker? If not Dolly or anyone.
MomDoc
We need multiple stickers! My husband and I have had both shots. And my 16-year-old daughter got her first shot yesterday! Since her birthday was Monday, we all want balloons!
Emerald
I want Samwise! Got the Pfiser, next one on April 8. Two weeks later I will want Steve.
Actually painless. Apparently the needle is teensy.
James E Powell
Got my 2nd Pfizer shot yesterday. No side effects as of now.

Got Pfizer #2 on Wednesday evening. As with #1, administration was smooth and well-run and I had a little bit of soreness at the injection site the next morning, but otherwise no issues.
I’ll take a Corvette Joe.

Copied from the latest thread:
Got my first dose, Pfizer, this morning at a local clinic. I’m eligible since I work for the city. I signed up within 30 minutes of getting the e-mail saying I could, and I’ve been bugging everyone I work with to hurry up and get signed up already! They’ve got a well-oiled operation there – it’s in an old supermarket they bought in February because they’re getting ready for the MO Medicaid expansion, it was just a lucky break that it also works well for vaccinations.
You get in line about 5-10 minutes before your scheduled time. They’ve got 4 stations – check-in, paperwork, standing in line, and vaccinations. Then you self-monitor while you wait for 15 minutes. I almost started crying when I was standing in line, I was so happy to be there. Already got my 2nd dose scheduled for Monday, April 12th. My husband is getting his 2nd one next Tuesday – he got Moderna, same as my mother. He had a fever and chills for about a day, so I’m prepared to have the same since I had COVID too. I want the kitten! (Edited for several stupid typing mistakes LOL)
Seanly
Lily sticker for my wife who works in admin for a hospital (and she of the blood stem cell transfusion over 6 years ago). She’s not in great health but had no side effects from Moderna. I am 53 with pre-existing conditions so I was going to ask for the eagle, but I really am in WTF? mode about this. Gimme that WTF sticker please. Idaho is moving at a glacial pace, the fuckers.
Sure Lurkalot
I already have my first shot sticker and will get the second in a week and a half. But along the theme of better availability, it took me a good 3 weeks after our eligibility date of registering, checking and worrying before I snagged appointments for me and Mr. Doesnotlurkatall. They opened eligibility up to restaurant workers today and further, are holding special clinics for them and my nephew got an appointment for Monday.
Elizabelle
I will take a Henry, please.
One Pfizer shot on March 12th; the second appointment for April 5th.
It really feels like we are at the beginning of the end of this pandemic. Moar vaccine for people all over the world, please.
Wag
@indycat32: add a second Champ stamp for your two shots and you’re good to go!

Got my first Pfizer shot this last Tuesday at the mass vaccination site at M&T stadium, Baltimore; as a Gov worker, I was allowed though not 65. A really well run and organized place handling many hundreds every hour. Amazing how well it was setup and how fast it was all done.
Very sore arm for a day or two and sight flu symtoms that lasted part of a day.
I’ll take any pic just as I would have taken any vaccination!
AdamK
I’m now scheduled for next Saturday. I had to coordinate my appointment with getting a ride, which I had to schedule 2 weeks in advance. It’s not easy being old in a state run by a bumbling Republican like Mike DeWine.
Suzanne
Leaving home in half an hour to get dose #2!!!!
Arlene
Got my second Moderna last Saturday. My husband got his second on Tuesday. My son who works for the local school district got the J&J vaccine (thanks to Governor Wolf who specified J&J for educators and staff).
I’d prefer a Steve sticker as he could be the twin of my Maine Coon, Griffin.
Kathleen
@cintibud: Yup. Me too. Second shot at Duke Energy Center yesterday.

Got my second on Wednesday and the mild arm soreness is all gone now.
Lily, please!

I haven’t a clue when I will be able to get vaccinated here in Arizona but at the moment I DO NOT CARE – today I made my first legal purchase of “recreational” marijuana! I am going to sit in my apartment and RECREATE! After I finish work, that is, but still …
jnfr
I’ve had my first shot, 2nd scheduled for 3/30. I’d love the 1 dose done kitten, if I may.
Mr. J is eligible starting today, so he’ll go into the queue for his appt. I am very hopeful that by May we’ll both be safe. Safe as can be, anyway.
M31
Got my first Pfizer at the Raven’s Stadium in Baltimore on Wed — had to wait about 2 hours, though a friend went that morning and was in and out pretty quickly, and when I left there was no line, so there must have been some problem/backup somewhere. Got in as a higher-ed worker though I’m under 65. Not at all a geriatric crowd, big mix of ages.
But the line moved along and it was very quick and professional when I got inside, set my second shot for the second week of April, and it feels gooooooooooood.

Pfizer the second at lunchtime today. Two more weeks for full immunity to build and then maybe I’ll attend a hockey game or two. Fingers crossed my team continues to do well.
It’s been two hours now, and I’ve not grown any horns or other mutations. I’m disappoint.
Corvette Joe, I guess.

Still waiting . . . here in WA, I became eligible as of Weds (because of job #2 at the grocery store). My union called; they’d set up vaccination clinics – from 1-6 pm, on Thurs. and Friday. Yeah, those are working hours, for one job or the other. So, I’m on my own, surfing the other sites as time allows.
I’m past the point of really caring when I can get the shot. It’s been a year of people in my face and in my space with no recourse or respite.
I regularly think of the “joke” I read last year when Covid first hit Seattle, and a reporter asked a grocery worker if they weren’t afraid of getting it – “I’m almost 60, and I’m working in a grocery store. You think I care if I die?” I’m not there yet, but I certainly understand the sentiment.
gvg
I got the first Pfizer March 11th. 2nd should be sometime around April 1st. Work found out that one FEMA site an hour away was considering University employees to be educators and letting us get a shot with ID but no appointment since we aren’t official. That site is still lagging far below capacity. They have actually had special events trying to get more people interested. Anyway I was afraid it wouldn’t work but I really wanted the shot so I took off from work at lunch and drove over. It was easy though. They didn’t have a selfie place and don’t want you taking pics of someone else so for my 2nd shot I will try to find a nice sign to stand in front of.
I’d like champ please.
The special event I head about was a 4 hour time on saturday where anyone who brought in a senior for their shot, could also get the shot as a “caretaker”. Seems logical to me anyway.
Our Governor says we aren’t getting as much vaccine, J&J is having production issues. Not sure I believe him because he lies and doesn’t understand science both.
Rommie
Got my J&J shot this afternoon. So far no bad side effects!

Got my second shot two weeks ago tomorrow. Dog’s going in for grooming on Monday and I’m getting a haircut on Tuesday!
comrade scotts agenda of rage
What’s a vaccine? I’ve read about them but in CO damned if you can find em.

Update breaking news, Florida is lowering eligibility to 50 on Monday which means I can get my 2nd shot here in town and not have to drive an hour worrying I would have a reaction. I slept a good part of the next day after first but was OK for about 18 hours, then tired.
Also Orlando’s mayor and possibly Miami’s are lowering age to 40, ignoring Governor because they say they aren’t vaccinating as many as they have doses. The Orlando mayor specifies that Orlando is tourism capital of the world and spring break is starting and then summer vacations. He wants everyone vaccinated fast. Sounds smart to me.
quakerinabasement
Second shot yesterday. Pfizer. Feeling fine so far today.
Steve me!
Ida Slapter
I’d like baby Champ, please and thank you. I’m one week away from my second Moderna shot. I was sick most of January and still getting rid of a nasty URI in Feb when my doctor told me to sign up everywhere and go with whoever contacted me first. I live in the Detroit area. Seemed like every wannabe vaccine provider was was all ready to go but for a lack of the vaccine itself. The floodgates finally opened up at the end of February, when I got all kinds of invitations to come get my shot. I took the first one I got, which was from Meijers. Location was very close to my home. Very impressive on-site organization and staffing. Plenty of trained people working at the various stations so that nobody had to wait too long and we all kept moving. Time from when I entered the store to when I had the needle in my arm? 25 minutes.
They automatically booked my second shot for the same time 4 weeks later. My arm hurt for a couple of days but that was all. I was surprised at how relieved I felt then and still do. I will still be following all the social distance stuff and will probably wear a mask voluntarily for years to come, but I feel so good that I have dodged the worst of the ‘Rona so far! Between this and Biden-Harris off and running smoothly, I am actually feeling optimistic for the first time in a looooooong while. Happy weekend, Juicers!

Scheduled for Monday and I’m thrilled!
Mingobat (f/k/a Karen in GA)
My shot was Moderna — may I have a Thanks, Dolly? Much obliged.
Mr. Mingobat and I became eligible as of Monday, so at 3 AM that morning I jumped on the first appointments I could find. They were two hours away, but given that we’re in Georgia and vaccine distribution has been a slow-rolling joke, I grabbed them. So we got our first shots on Tuesday, and we have to do the drive once more on April 13th.
So of course the next day, a friend nearby got an appointment about 40 minutes from me. Oh well. Whaddayagonnado? Still worth it.
WaterGirl
@comrade scotts agenda of rage: I figure you deserved all of these!

About a month ago I signed up my husband (medical conditions) and myself (over 65) with a major medical provider in the area, but after hearing nothing further I decided last week to brave the local pharmacy sign-ups. I got an app’t for myself for next Tuesday at a Rite-Aid about 25 miles north of here (Carlisle, PA), and for my husband for next Wednesday at a Rite-Aid a few miles away. A two-shot version, but we don’t know (or care) which one. Meanwhile, Capital Blue Cross is holding a four-day vaccination event near Harrisburg, and several local pharmacies are holding a big event here on Saturday. Things are definitely loosening up.
Ruckus
@piratedan:
Which vaccine did you get?
I’ve seen stories that Moderna seems to have a somewhat higher first shot reaction and Pfizer a bigger second shot reaction. (my Pfizer routine was first NBD and second a couple of days of feeling rather tired, while not actually being tired.)
My point is also modified by not everyone has the same reactions to either. I believe it depends upon the person, their health history and status.
cckids
@WaterGirl:
Trying not to. There’s so much just despair among my co-workers, though. So many people have quit, between fears of the virus, to just so, so much hateful and/or racist behavior from customers.
This is in Bellevue, WA; it’s so DAMN blue here we might as well be CA; Microsoft’s headquarters are a mile from our store, so we have many, many people who are “here from away”. And yet. Every shift, someone’s gotta show their ENTIRE ass to an employee. Our immediate mgmt people are good; the overall store/Kroger management-not so much.
zzyzx
@Heidi Mom: You can tell by when the second appointment is if that helps.

@WaterGirl: The two dose sticker looks like a much bigger version of Last. At least one of my other cats is trying to apply for the lap cat vacancy that just opened.

Got mine (Moderna) a couple hours ago and am scheduled for the second dose on 4/16. Should be all good well before Memorial Day!
I think Rosie and Thurston would approve!

@rikyrah: Apparently stores all over have gotten approved for recreational sale. I’d gotten a “New Times” about a month ago saying licensing was happening faster than predicted but I didn’t start to inquire of neighbors who have medical cards where they buy and whether recreational sales were happening. I am delighted that a very nice store is only a mile and a half away. I was really not happy at the idea of having to drive into Phoenix. I’m in Mesa. I’m champing at the bit here – I have to finish my work before I can begin to “recreate.” Grrr!

What I really loved about the experience, besides how well run the Giant Eagle pharmacy was, was how happy everyone in line for the shot was to be there and getting it. Lots of friendly chit chat and such. It was nice, especially due to all us having spent the last year in solitary confinement with occasional forays to work or shop. Everyone was full of hope and joy.

Got second Pfizer shot, as did Alice, at Worcester State U. this afternoon. Very easy, perhaps a little less crowded than when we got out first ones. No side effects to report, but it’s only been two hours. In any event, two more weeks and we can gently re-enter what’s left of society out there.
guhm61
Got first dose Pfizer this past Wednesday.Indeed here in NE and Central PA seems as things have broken loose after weeks of no appointments. Walmart, Rite Aid , couple different healthcare systems have reached out individually – I received an email from my healthcare system encouragingly me to call and make an appointment – or there’s been very public notification about mass vaccination sites. Seems like real progress. And l ill take a Henry sticker ( so reminds me of my dearly departed Frankie who was in one of the earlier calendars along with Spike the aged Westie).

@CorgiMum: I dunno. I am really looking forward to spouse occassionally leaving the house.

I got the first dose this morning! I got the appointment for my second dose. It was maybe 30 minutes from the moment I got out of my car, walked to the UC and back including the 15 minute waiting period. The National Guardsman asked me if I was queasy about needles and BAM! it was over. Easy peasy. 20/10 would recommend! :)

Hahaha – I just realized you were referring to “opening up” in terms of vaccines. I’m so obsessed with the idea of being able to recreate once my work is done …
I think I might be stoned from standing in line in the store.

@Captain C:
Now I want to give scritches to that cute tuxie kitten.

My wife (dialysis nurse) told me Monday they had to waste a dose due to not enough takers for an open vial. I asked if she could waste it in my arm. (I’m 1c so I’m eligible here now) Her clinic manager said ok. They had another one today they were going to have to waste so she called and told me to get myself over asap. Texted her when I got to the parking lot and out she came. With the loaded syringe, alcohol wipe, and a bandaid. No fuss no muss. Got my Johnson and Johnson today in the parking lot.

I got my second Moderna shot on Tuesday . Both were at the drive through at San Francisco Airport’s Long Term Parking building. My wife got her second Pfizer shot the previous Friday, which makes ours a mixed marriage, vaccine-wise.
I’ll take a Steve for my pair of shots.
Comrade Colette
Congrats to all!
For me? Nada. Nuthin. Zip. Zero.
I’ll take a WHY? sticker this time.
Betsy
@WaterGirl: Thanks, you stickered me with my kitteh of choice!

Got the second Moderna on Wednesday in Phoenix. Very minimal side effects and back to normal today. I’d like the 2 ducklings!

@Comrade Colette: Come sit six feet away from me.

Two weeks past my second shot, but I’m not sure it is working.
My 5G reception doesn’t seem to have improved at all.
Negative consequences nil.

Leslie Jordan got his second dose the other day. He said he was a tiny bit achy after the second dose but NOTHING that should stop anyone from getting the vaccine. He referenced Dolly and her updated lyrics to Jolene. So he made up his own verse.
Hit him with a Dolly sticker, please.

I got my 2nd Pfizer shot Thursday. While I didn’t have much in the way of side effects after the first one, this one more made up for that!
It’s still better than real COVID, so je ne regrette rien.
I’d like the Steve 2 doses sticker, please.

@comrade scotts agenda of rage: Your local public health agency doesn’t have the shots? Mine did. : (

Woo hooo dose number two today! Give me Steve!

Moderna shot one! Gimme some Champ please and thank you!

Got my first shot (Pfizer) this past Wednesday. Mild soreness at the injection site about six hours afterwards and the slightest feeling of nausea a couple hours after that. Felt perfectly fine the next day.
Second shot scheduled for 4/19. Looking forward to resuming the annual Memorial Day Ribs N ‘Ritas Party (just me, my mom and her boyfriend, and my brother and his wife) which obviously couldn’t happen last year.
I would love a Baby Champ sticker, if you wouldn’t mind.
Falling Diphthong
I got my first dose of the Moderna vaccine this morning.
Reminded me of the best run stuff from my elementary PTO days (I’m in MA)–very efficient, and from check in to shot to 15 minute wait took 20 minutes all told. For those with smart phones (so like 95%) they sent you a text to schedule your second dose and you could do that while waiting out any side effects. People circulating with tablets to book appointments for anyone who didn’t have a smart phone.
I would like a Kamala sticker, if you would be so kind.
J_A
I got my second Pfizer shot on Friday afternoon. The side effects of the second dose were very mild. Nothing on Friday afternoon, On Saturday I had a SLIGHT flu-like discomfort (some joint pain, like when you have a cold, I had some headache, very mild, and no fever). On Sunday I woke up feeling perfectly fine and went biking for three hours. No side effects whatsoever on the first shot.
Please note that on Friday night I had a work related celebration dinner, including two Old Fashioned, wine, and a vodka shot (the latter ordered behind my back, I’ll point out).
Any relationship between the Old Fashioned and the mild Saturday malaise is entirely Pfizer’s fault.
Last but not least, I’m a dog person, sticker wise
Minstrel Michael
Got my second dose of Moderna yesterday. The area is slightly swollen and inflamed, but less so than round one, which I understand is not the typical user experience. Maybe it’s because this time they jabbed my dominant arm?
Didn’t report yesterday because I was also in the middle of a humongous project: editing an hour and a half video of this local musical theater troupe I participate in. We did a half hour virtual show last year in pirate costume, songs and stories, as proof of concept. This one was an actual stage show we did a couple years back as Roaring Twenties mobsters and rum runners and their molls, eight named characters and two extra musicians (guitar and bass accompanying my mandolin). I added “intertitles” (which is the current term of art for those dialog boxes from silent movies) and a fake newsreel (where I indulged a joke I’d always wanted to use– the story was about Hitler publishing Mein Kampf, and I illustrated it with Charlie Chaplin’s dance routine with the balloon globe from the Great Dictator). I’m using an open source system called OpenShot, which offers a ton of features that are rather beyond my comprehension, but I was able to generate some special effects that I thought were very cool. Pardon me for blathering on! It’s an hour into the final assemblage of all the fiddly little bits, with (says the computer) another hour to go. Then I have to do one more step to shrink it down to cell phone size to accommodate our likely audience.
So, may I please have the two shot sticker with the ducklings? And please tell John Cole that it’s okay to be a reclusive curmudgeon, I find it perfectly admirable!
Ceci n est pas mon nym
Just got our first shot of the household!
My wife falls in group 1A, and at about 3 pm she got an email that she could make an appointment for Moderna shot #1 at a site 20 mins away. By 4:30 she was jabbed and waiting for approval to go home.
I fall in group 2, so am trying not to get my hopes up till May. We both pre-registered at the same time (multiple times — it’s like pushing the call button for the elevator, the more times you push it the faster the elevator comes) on a county website.
So I guess I’ll take a Samwise “1 dose is done” for my wife, and a “Make It Happen” for myself.
Jean
I had the second dose of Pfizer this afternoon. No soreness in arm, and so far, no side effects. It’s been 7 hours. Lots more flexibility in VA now; however, that was not the case as much as a month ago. We drove two hours each way to a CVS in South Boston. And we could not get the same day. So a total of 4 days of driving back and forth to get it done for both of us. No regrets! I’m happy to be fully vaccinated before Easter and not have to search for a vaccine site anymore! I’d like the two ducklings, please.
RoonieRoo
Got my second shot Saturday of Pfizer. I was very tired and fatigued on Sunday but fine by Monday. Also managed to get Grumpy scheduled for his first Moderna for this Saturday. I am so ready for us to both be fully vaccinated so we can see our sisters. Can I have a Steve sticker?
DropDminus
Since the commonwealth can’t seem to get its shit together and get out of phase 1A, my wife and I crossed the border where we’re eligible by age and scored some high grade moderna this morning in scenic Steubenville. The staff at the Kroger pharmacy was great and had no problem with us being from PA (I may have been less than honest with eligibility bot on the website but I called ahead to confirm before actually reserving the spots). Round 2 set for next month. Going to get my 16 year old on the list as soon as it opens up over there at the end of the month (two younger ones aren’t eligible yet which is a bummer).
The Lodger
Got my first Pfizer shot last night at the Oregon Convention Center along with a few hundred others. There were almost that many volunteers and staffers in the operation. No pain or symptoms, I’m a little tired but that’s not unusual. Back in 3 weeks for shot 2. By coincidence, youngest brother got his first shot 12 hours later in South Carolina. He has to wait 5 months to get his second.
Samwise please!
Burrowing Owl
Got my first Moderna at a King Sooper’s (not in Boulder) this morning. The pharmacist told me that giving vaccinations helps and makes today a good day, especially after yesterday. Longtime BJ lurker and introvert (I cried when we lost Tunch)–this site and this community have long been an oasis of sanity with the kindest jackals. Thank you, John and front pagers. May I please have a Samwise sticker?

@J_A: Henry and Lily were fighting over you, so you get two stickers.

Hubby and I just got dose 1 of Pfizer. We’d registered on 2/18 with Fairfax County VA’s site and got emails yesterday inviting us to make our appointments. Black and white kitten please.
Greg Ferguson
Here in Tucson, the drug chains are just starting to vaccinate in their pharmacies, and I nabbed a spot at a local Walgreens for Pfizer No. 1 this morning. No. 2 is scheduled for late April.
Shot was a snap (I am not needle-phobic), but even though I had done all of the requested paperwork ahead of time, and brought it along, and had my IDs at the ready, checking in still seemed to take an age. As I am now in the system for this, I imagine No. 2 will be speedier. Yay!
WaterGirl
@Greg Ferguson: What sticker would you like?
DropDminus
@WaterGirl: gotta go with the general himself. I’ll be back on the 20th for my two dose Steve.
TallTom
Better half and I got our (Moderna) 1st shot today, as TN dropped the age limit to 55+. Dolly’s million dollar donation helped speed development of the Moderna vaccine. For that, and because I live pretty close to Dollywood, I need a sticker that says “Thanks Dolly!”
Heidi Mom
I got the first shot yesterday (Moderna). It was just like getting a flu shot except in a different Rite Aid. How ordinary this miracle of science seemed!
Samwise, please. He looks just like a cat I lost way too soon.
tarragon
I got the first.
State moved to availability for 50+ Yesterday. I signed up for an appointment in May.
Late in the day the county got a shipment and opened a new block of appointments. Got myself signed up and got the shot first thing this morning.
The site was really excellently run. Big waiting areas and plenty of space for lines but scheduled out just right so I was never waiting more than a minute. I asked and they said they can run 140 people an hour. It’s usually less based on appointments but did once hit the full 1400 in a single day.
Please give me a Kamala Sticker! Thanks.

I had my first pfizer shot last Monday, and then I got worried because I saw my second shot won’t be for another 28 days. I thought it was supposed to be 21 days.
I guess the call center operator who scheduled my appointments didn’t know which vaccine I’d be getting, and so their standard practice is to schedule everyone 28 days apart.
Other than a sore arm and an hour or two of lassitude, no side effects.
I had tried getting a vaccine appointment through my county, but that wasn’t happening, so I finally registered with my local pharmacy. They’re only a few blocks right down the street, so I hoped I could just walk there.
So I had to set up an online account with a password, and receive their spam. But every time I’d try to schedule an appt., I’d fill out all my personal information, and then get a red warning “system not operational please try again.”
I tried a hundred times a day to schedule online. Sometimes it would say “Appointments are available in your area!” and I’d enter the same personal info I’d already entered a hundred times, and then finally reach the end and the red warning “sorry, not operational”
Other times it would immediately say “No appointments in your area for the next 3 days please try again” before even entering my info.
So finally I decided to call. Last friday was my first call. I got an operator who didn’t bother taking any info other than my zip code. Then she said “sorry, no appointments, try again tomorrow.” But there was something in her tone of voice that suggested to me she really wasn’t checking anything, just humoring me.
So I tried calling again Saturday morning. This time I got a different operator, and she actually started asking for my info. Finally she said “There’s an appointment available on Sunday (at the pharmacy about ten miles away). Wait! There’s a Monday appointment (at the pharmacy a few blocks away).”
So all excited I request the Monday appointment. Another half hour goes by while she fusses with her keyboard, making frustrated sounds into her phone.
Finally, she apologizes and tells me she “can’t figure out this computer system” — she was able to set the first appointment, but she can’t figure out how to set the second appointment. And if she can’t set a second appointment, I can’t have the first appointment.
By now I’ve been on the phone for an hour. She tells me to call back some other time and try again. So I ask her politely if there’s anyone else there who can help her? A help desk maybe?
Another fifteen minutes of muffled sound on her end. Finally she tells me someone in another office is trying. She asks me how the weather is where I live. (She had an accent that sounded Texan to me.)
Finally, she says the other person was able to set the Monday appointment…. and it’s at the pharmacy ten miles away. I express confusion about the location, and she tells me she can’t see the computer screen of the person at the other office, so she can’t tell me the location. “Can I speak to that other person?” I ask. Sorry. Impossible.
But it all got sorted out, and on Monday I drove to the pharmacy ten miles away, where they made me give all the personal info that I’d already given in my online attempts AND in my phone attempt.
And so I got my first shot.

Got my second Pfizer shot today in the phx-burbs. Fast and efficient. I ask for Joe, the ducklings, and Lilly please in that order of preference.

The two of us got our 2nd doses of Moderna today. Incredibly efficient, in – vaccinated – wait 15 minutes and out. Just got back. So relieved. Joe and Dolly please!

I was scheduled for Pfizer 1 at FEMA’s Detroit Ford Field clinic at 7:30 last night. Arrived a half hour early. There was just one line waiting for the for the 15-20 check-in booths. Standard metal poles and black straps, about 4 rows snaking back and forth. Only two filled, and 20 yards down, someone is opening the straps so that we can cut back into the back of the line instead of going all the way around. Not so bad, I thought.
I was wrong. Ford Field’s concourse corner consists of two 120 degree corners with about 20 yards in between instead of one 90 degree corner, to follow the seating construction layout and to provide more concourse space at the four corner entrances. We couldn’t see past that first corner. Once we cleared the first corner, we couldn’t see past the second corner. “This better not be Cedar Point!” I said to no one in particular, referring to amusement parks’ insidious trick of hiding the back 2/3 of the line behind the ride where you can’t see it until you’ve invested a significant amount of time in the line.
It was Cedar Point. We cleared the second corner and made it all the way out to the 40 yard line before looping back. Ended up in line for an hour and a half. It was the first day of the clinic. I’m sure there were hundreds of cumulative micro-delays and kinks to work out. Surprisingly, we only had one person pass out. Given that Michigan is only at the Over-50 with co-morbidities tier, I would have expected more.
Had my phone, reception, and Amazon Prime. Forgot the earbuds. Got in nearly 2 episodes of The Expanse. I had to keep a finger on the volume control and quickly lower it whenever Chrisjen Avasarala came on screen. The Plus/Minus on how many words she says before dropping an F-Bomb is about six.
Finally make it through to check in. The entire place is staffed with service personnel from all services. Green camo everywhere. Air Force guy gives me shot. I even saw a Space Force. I was surprised that their camo wasn’t just pitch black.
It really did look like the scenes in disaster movies where the victims are all checking in for help. Except the victims didn’t look like they just had their ass kicked by a tornado, hurricane, earthquake, or Godzilla. Tim Horton’s victims maybe.
Chetan Murthy
Got the shot this AM. Pfizer. No side-effects so far. It was barely a pinprick. I’ve had intramuscular shots before, and they’re always more painful than that. I almost want a few side-effects, just so I’ll know it was real.
Chaser on 14 April. It was all very efficient: arrived at 11:20-ish, was shot and sitting 15min by 11:28. Two women ahead of me in line.
Villago Delenda Est
Got mine (Moderna) today at the VA. Back down there on the 22 April to get the followup. So far no side effects to speak of, really, not even much arm soreness.

Had Pfizer shot #1 this afternoon.
I’d like a Penelope, please.
Sister Machine Gun of Quiet Harmony
I got the shot #1 Monday. Pfizer. My arm hurt and I was very tired for a couple of days. I’d like a kitten sticker.

After checking three local pharmacy chain COVID websites several times a day for about a month and a half, suddenly last Saturday morning I got a hit: one appointment available, that Saturday. As I was considering the logistics involved, the website refreshed and it was gone, but the the new earliest appointments appeared for the next day, and I clicked on one, and wrote it down in my daily journal (Sunday, March 21). Then the confirmation screen came up and was for the (then next, now last) Monday (March 22). It said a confirmation email with instructions was or would be sent to my email address. That was at around 10:30 AM Saturday. The email arrived at 2:28 AM Sunday, after had given up on it and had planned to call the pharmacy when it opened at 11 AM, to see if I really did have an appointment.
Which is to say, all the (three) pharmacy websites I tried had user-unfriendly issues. Take Rite Aid–please! You have to go through an eligibility checklist which includes your birth date. Fair enough, but a calendar of the current month pops up automatically when you start to type in the field, with a “<” icon so I could go back, month by month, until I reached May, 1946, and then I could click the day. What? Also, the popup stays there after you have typed in the date in the field, covering the next item in the checklist. I had to learn to fill in the list bottom to top.
Conclusion: there are not enough good web-site programmers available.
Oh the actual shot? That went fine, in and out in about 20 minutes (I didn’t wait the full 15 minutes afterward, just 11–the pharmacist was pretty casual about it , “…if you want to”). My left arm got pretty sore at the injection site, which I don’t remember happening for other shots, but that only lasted two days. I think it was the Moderna vaccine I got. I go back for the second shot in four weeks (April 19) and then two more weeks of semi-quarantine, then I still have to wear a mask outside but can meet family/friends in small groups, until the pandemic restrictions are officially over.
Turns out I got my appointment just before NYS opened up eligibility to 50 and above, otherwise I would be competing for appointments with that huger group.
(Yes I could have gotten an appointment earlier if I were willing to rent a car and drive 20 miles or so, but I wasn’t. No cars for me. Lived my whole life that way, except when I had to drive on field trips for work, not going to stop now.)

First Pfizer today. The entire line took about an hour. Despite the confirmation email saying to expect the NC database to send me credentials to input my own information, I never got the promised username. Nor did anyone else, from the looks of it; there were five kiosks setting up accounts for people. My arm is starting to get sore about six hours post-shot.
Samwise, plz.
Kayla Rudbek
Scheduled for my first shot on March 31st.

I got Pfizer #2 a few hours ago! No side effects so far, not even a sore arm yet. I got my shot at the same place I’ve been volunteering, so I knew the drill, and I got to wave to some of the volunteers that I recognized. I’m so relieved to be done.
Ducklings, please.
William D
So, got my second Pfizer shot today. Went to same place as where I got the first one, same setup only it seemed more busier and bustling — the number of people getting vaccines was approaching parity to the number of blue-shirted nurses/volunteers. Said daily total would top 600. During my 20 minute post-vac waiting period I entertained myself by reading Balloon Juice about the stuck Suez freighter and singing softly “the wreck of the Evergreen Ever Given” to myself….
Afterwards spouse and I went to a nursery for some backyard plants, kept the cost under $50, which I consider a small victory.
Two hours later, no soreness or symptoms, yet…..
Biden pic please.
SFAW
Got my second Moderna shot today. Expecting/semi-hoping to feel like crap tomorrow (or maybe starting after midnight. Yes, I know that’s technically “tomorrow.”)
Bumper
All done!!! Today was the 2nd Pfizer for me and husband. It was the same setup as before, a drive through at a large automobile shipping place. It was even easier and faster this time because we got there about 20 minutes early. Paperwork check, drive in the giant garage, jab, jab, drive out to the giant parking lot to wait 15 minutes. Drive away. This time, the firefighter who gave our shots did a little better on DH, no pain or bleeding, but I had more of a stinging sensation. No problems yet, but we’ve prepared oldest son in case either or both of us experience side effects. May I have the double green balloons and Joe please? Thank you :)
Comrade Colette
No shot yet, but California announced yesterday that eligibility will expand to anyone over 50 (waves at 50 in the rear-view mirror) on April 1 and anyone over 16 (Colette Jeune is 17) on April 15. Of course, the trick will be actually finding an appointment, but this is a big Biden deal.

Dose #1 #teamModerna at a drive in clinic. I went ahead and grabbed the “Thanks Dolly” image.
Dan B
@Dan B: Second shot an hour ago. Shot was less noticeable than the first. I asked, in jest, when she was going to give me the injection. She liked that. Upper deltoid is already sore. It might be a rough evening.
The shoot-er said they were doing 1600 per day. The place was Kaiser WA headquarters for WA just south of Seattle. Most people seemed to be 30 to 50 with a few teens.
Dolly – smile on me!
WaterGirl
@Dan B: Finally! Congratulations!
Auntie Anne
I want Dolly. Just got home from the first shot – we had to drive an hour to get it, but it was worth it!
Ms. Deranged in AZ
I got my first shot last night at midnight. The volunteers at the Cardinals Stadium are working around the clock literally to get Arizonans vaccinated.

Got my second shot (Moderna) yesterday, a little tired this morning but other than that, doing fine!
May I have that Biden sticker, please? He looks the way I feel!

I drove through a torrential downpour yesterday (the first significant rain this month) to get my second Pfizer shot far away from home. No doubt I will get the call today that my number on the waiting list has come through, and there is a local appointment available for me today. So it goes.
All the BJ pets are wonderful, but can I have a Tikka sticker?
WaterGirl
@Ms. Deranged in AZ: Midnight! wow.
