I really like the shade of yellow on your shed. So cheerful.
You need to add more nitrogen spikes under the willow.

Beautiful. Nothing better than a little space to call your own, away from all the anger and awful in the world….

Your yard is going to eat your house. And we all know who will be leading the assault.

We still need to talk about that willow tree…
Also: can I come over? I can make lasagna with salad and we can have mocktails on the back porch while I spoil Papa Stevedore Hemingway with all the skritches.

Considering the bare patch that was there a few years ago that’s awesome. I also really like the wildflowers out front.
In the video Op-Ed above, Professor Lichtman walks us through his system, which identifies 13 “keys” to winning the White House. Each key is a binary statement: true or false. And if six or more keys are false, the party in the White House is on its way out.

@Mallard FIlmore: I started to watch the video at FTFNYT, but was overcome by a desire to strangle the NYT reporter. The jokey “I’m not gonna tell you the lede now but make you wait 7 minutes,” got old 20 years ago.

A question, John. How common are your beautiful side fences in your town?
I have yard envy. My backyard has rocks, an above ground pool and a shed. As soon as it the temps get below 1000 degrees during the day, I am hoping to plant some vine plants along the wall to at least over up the ugly walls.
I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve, hoping my parents have disguised a puppy as a box containing a sweater…
Robert J. DeNault @robertjdenault· 2h JUST IN: New York Attorney General Letitia James will make a “major national announcement” tomorrow morning at 11:30 am EST.
Twitter lawyers are skeptical the NY state AG would be making an announcement about a criminal case, but “national announcement”? A lawsuit against the Feds? with a couple of other states joining in? Covid-related?
Should anyone want to donate to relief efforts in Lebanon, a friend based near there says only donate to a well-known charity like Doctors Without Borders or the International or Lebanese Red Cross/ Red Cresent (NOT the American one, I can tell you why at length some other time).
There’s a lot of corruption in Lebanon and the government has confiscated money from bank accounts of individuals. So no Go-Fund-Mes or any unfamiliar charities. They could be perfectly legit, but they are unlikely to get any donations.
That does look really nice. I really ought to settle down somewhere with a yard one of these decades.
(insert obligatory willow joke)

@Mallard FIlmore: Lichtman was my debate coach when I was a college freshman. He was a good guy and very smart. He was on the leading edge of historians applying statistical methods to large data sets. This was about the time academics in the social sciences could finally harness enough computer power to perform multiple regression on county by county voting and census information. He’s done some serious work on presidential elections based on this methodology. I don’t think the keys to the presidency qualifies, though. Lots of variables, few data points, and room for subjective determination of the “keys” makes it more of an amusing parlor game. I think the Times embarrassed itself by giving it so much prominence.
I was glad though because I’m in rural western PA and it’s Trumpsters as far as the eye can see – (possible) crackpot “keys to the presidency” man Is welcome right now :)

John Cole, your house and yard are so welcoming, not just to birds. It’s such a rewarding feeling to start from the state your house was in when you bought it and realize you’ve made it into a beautiful home.

Lovely backyard oasis, John. The transformation of that property house and yard both – from where it started to now is just stunning. The love and care shine everywhere.
I hope it’s as lovely to live in as it is to look at!

Over at democraticunderground there is a prediction that Trump loses.
Professor Allan Lichtman, whose presidential prediction model forecast a Trump win in 2016, announces that his model predicts a Trump loss in 2020:
