Well, not Steyer. And if you didn’t like Bernie already, he’s not winning you over. But that’s how he rolls. Otherwise, all solid performances. https://t.co/1FM38fXht4

Disclaimer: This debate will claim very little attention, except among the various candidates’ partisans… which, all things considered, might be just as well.
VOTE FOR THE DEMOCRATS — WE WON’T MAKE YOU FLINCH EVERY MORNING!
Of course, I’m happy my favorite did well… as did Amy Klobuchar. And Joe Biden, in his case mostly by not making any news. That seems to be solidifying as the Biden Brand, and as I said already, maybe that’s what 2020 voters want.
Warren: "the only people on this stage who have won every election that they've been in are the women, Amy and me… and the only person on this stage who has beaten an incumbent Republican in the last 30 years is me" #DemDebate

Nothing convinces people you didn’t say something super sexist by…incorrectly correcting your female colleague and then mansplaining to her what she explicitly just said. #DemDebate pic.twitter.com/lGwhzoXYix

IE– talking past each other and misinterpreted what the other one was saying
— Charlotte Alter (@CharlotteAlter) January 15, 2020
Warren has really owned this debate. I see no way to deny that. But winning a debate on points doesn't always translate into the race. Biden has also had a good debate simply by no one really attacking him.

Even on a question about foreign policy and being commander in chief, Warren manages to find a way to weave in corruption — the underpinning of her campaign. #DemDebate
— Ali Vitali (@alivitali) January 15, 2020
.@ewarren is right, you can't talk about what's wrong with our foreign policy without talking about the corruption at the root of so much of what's broken. Friendly reminder that Trump made an arms maker lobbyist as Secretary of Defense.

Elizabeth Warren is rejecting chest-beating when talking about the power to go to war. Instead, she comes across as informed, decisive, and empathetic. She sounds nuanced and assertive.#DemDebate

Warren driving home a new message here: as the candidate who can not only unite the warring factions of the Dem Party, but who can also use the anti-corruption crusade to reach across the aisle to Rs. #DemDebate

very powerful conclusion here from Warren pic.twitter.com/HyHdvjKHqC

Men to women: what about your weaknesses? https://t.co/lFQ5voPmWY

If I were a betting person, I’d be placing a small wager on Tom Steyer dropping out after the Iowa caucuses. He just wanted to get his name in the record books, Mom!…
omg what was happening here pic.twitter.com/A7cDtpdGnN

Weird how Tom Steyer keeps saying "Senator Warren is right" yet he's spending millions of dollars to run against her and take up room next to her onstage
— Charlotte Alter (@CharlotteAlter) January 15, 2020
Steyer wants to implement congressional term limits, so that the longest tenured professionals in D.C. will be 'evil' lobbyists.
— David M. Drucker (@DavidMDrucker) January 15, 2020
Tom Steyer should have a big parking meter-type device in front of him that he has to feed $100,000 into every minute he talks

Patricia Kayden
Senator Warren is great but she’s not going to reach out to Republicans via anti-corruption concerns. They’re corrupt as exemplified by their tight embrace of Trump. As long as the corruption benefits them, they’re good.
Baud
@Patricia Kayden:
I think that tweet means Republican voters.
mrmoshpotato
Thanks for posting the clip of Senator Warren’s closing remarks.
mrmoshpotato
@Baud: You think Rethuglican voters care about corruption when they can own the libs?
Some of these fools would hack off a nut if they thought it would make liberals cry.
Baud
@mrmoshpotato:
She not going to get all of them.
mrmoshpotato
@Baud: I don’t follow.
Baud
@mrmoshpotato:
The tweeter thinks she can get some Republican voters who dislike corruption more than they like being mean to us.
mrmoshpotato
@Baud: Yeah. I get that, and I don’t believe it after watching decades of Rethuglicans voting to punch themselves in the crotch.
David ??Merry Christmas?? Koch
If a wingnut like Drucker is against term limits, then maybe they’re not so bad after all.
Betty Cracker
Just now catching up on the Parnas document dump, and holy shit! Is this real life? ?
OzarkHillbilly
Well, that’s it. It was nice while it lasted but Warren’s campaign has hit the double roadblock of nuance (for Americans, “nuance” means 55 2,000 lb bombs instead of a nuclear strike) and “assertive” (the death knell of women in corporations across the nation) is just another way of saying “bitch.”
germy
I watched the first hour of the debate and thought Warren was great.
But then I check the Washington Post to get the pundit’s reaction and I see this:
Gvg
@David ??Merry Christmas?? Koch: No, they are bad.
OzarkHillbilly
@Baud: You misspelled “any”.
OzarkHillbilly
@Betty Cracker: Today’s GOP.
germy
@Betty Cracker:
I looked at some headlines from the mainstream press outlets, and while they admit there was some discussion the ambassador would be surveilled, they don’t mention assassination.
Is it possible they can’t come to grips with the evidence they see? Or are they being purposely and overly cautious in their reporting? I don’t know.
I mean, I check progressive news sources and they’re all like “OMG! They were gonna kill her!” And the major outlets (the ones my neighbors see) only say she was being watched.
OzarkHillbilly
@germy: Rubin is still a conservative. I would not expect more from her.
OzarkHillbilly
@germy: You don’t “watch” somebody because you are bored. They had already hacked her computer and phone. They were watching her for a reason. Give me an innocent (not criminal) reason.
Baud
@germy:
From what I see, it’s indisputable she’s being watched. It’s vaguer about the assassination.
germy
@OzarkHillbilly: Yes, some of the anti-trumpers are eloquent in their criticism of him. And so I turn my boat towards the rocks so I can listen closer, and the song turns to “We need to cut entitlements!” and next thing I know I’m in the water.
germy
@OzarkHillbilly: There is no innocent reason, and I believe they meant her harm. I’m seeing that opinion on the “lefty” places I visit. I hope at some point that evidence becomes too obvious for the rest of the media to ignore.
germy
What an administration.

OzarkHillbilly
@germy: In a couple of texts, Hyde says his people* who are watching can do more, for a price. At the very least Hyde is showing a willingness/desire for physical intervention. Murder? Kidnapping? Assault?
They were desirous of, in their own words**, “getting rid of her. I can read between the lines. At the very least, Hyde is open to the idea.
*(I need to read them all in more detail to figure out just exactly who the people he is referring to are)
** from previous testimony and communiques.
JPL
@germy: The house also sent over information that’s classified. Just think about that after reading what they released. IMO Hyde is going to check himself into a medical facility today for a long rest.
MagdaInBlack
@germy:
So he’s going with the “drunk text/boys will be boys” defense?
JPL
@germy: I didn’t watch but skimmed a few news sites this morning and several though both Elizabeth and Amy did a good job. The only thing I noticed was no one mentioned Pete. It was like he wasn’t there.
JPL
@OzarkHillbilly: I was awake after four and started reading some of the texts and wondered why is Rudy still allowed to walk around free. It’s pretty scary because the mob is in control.
OzarkHillbilly
@JPL: I see a polonium cocktail in his future.
mrmoshpotato
@OzarkHillbilly: Hehe “I’m spying on you to pass the time.”
mrmoshpotato
@MagdaInBlack: Locker room texts! (Fuck these goons.)
Chris Johnson
Hoo boy. I get up and turn on Twitter, curious to see what’s supposed to be going on the morning after the debate, and what do I get presented with?
And then Germy’s posting a Jennifer Rubin reaction and it’s ‘ooo Biden and Klobuchar did super well!’
Russia clearly, officially wants Biden as the opposition, NOT Warren. (their second choice would be Tulsi, then Bernie) They run the Twitters (and Facebooks) and don’t feel like being subtle about it, they’ve got Republican help (or vice versa: what’s the difference anymore?) and they want to run against Biden, REAL bad.
I hope we all remember the lessons of Mueller and remain cognizant of what we are fucking looking at. None of this is normal, honest, or above-board. (neither was the war plan run against Clinton.)
I think this shows that Warren can get enough of a margin over what Hillary Clinton was able to do against their WORST and most desperate efforts, that she will win. I’m… kinda suspicious of going with the one Russia clearly wants to run against, and is clearly prepared against.
