15 month old Phoebe is mostly being a good girl playing with 8 week old Martin. She chirps and trills to him. She chases him around the room and he zips under the furniture spins around and they bat paws. They also enjoy a game where he races under the furniture and she goes over or around. They were in the living room with us from mid-afternoon to bedtime and they are racing around now. Phoebe gets wound up and pins the kitten hard enough to elicit a squeak occasionally but lets him up as soon as we yell NO Phoebe! So no unsupervised time.
I bought a Pixel 3 the other day for less than half the initial offering price when it came out and it seems to be doing what I need. I was disheartened when the bluetooth would not work well with the Ford Sync sound system. The same bug that caused me to return a previous version of their phone.
I had better luck finding a fix this time. Had to go into the developer’s menu to change a bluetooth setting default. I happily listened to an audiobook on the way to and from errands. Yay!

The Memphis Center for Reproductive Health (Choices) has completed its capital campaign and will open its new facility in January. The new Choices facility will have a mid-wife staffed birthing center. These folks are dedicated to lower maternal mortality in the local community. Meanwhile our Governor is sitting on $700 million in federal aid to the poor. The local abortion clinic is dramatically more “pro-life” than TN’s Governor.

Dredges up memories from B. Dalton Bookseller years. Yep, that’s exactly how the conversation would have gone. Other oldie but goodies: ‘You had a book with a red cover up front about a month ago. Where did you move it too?’ and ‘I’m looking for the book they were talking about on tv/the radio the other day.’
Thankful for no longer working retail, especially as Christmas approaches.
Keep in mind that she may need to whack him around a few times to convince him not to bite too hard when they’re playing, so don’t yell at her too much. If they’re quiet, then they’re not fighting.
My late great cat Boris once reared up on his hind legs and boxed kitten Natasha’s ears when she bit him too hard while they were playing. She never did THAT again, and stopped biting me, too. ?
Crown Books alumna here. I remember all of those questions. The ones who wanted to sound smart asked for that book they’d seen in the LA Times Review of Books six months ago. No, they didn’t remember whether it was fiction or nonfiction, they just wanted the book. ?

Soooo John does the new fancy blow site mean ur gonna be posting more at BJ than on twitter? For a while there I saw ya more on twitter than over here?
Back when was working at a movie theater, was present when the phone rang in the box office and the caller asked the following: “What time does the 9:40 show start?”
Without missing a beat, the person who answered replied, “At twenty minutes to ten.”

The majority leader’s autobiography is in the fiction aisle.

I think the BJ crowd might like feral cat documentary video.
It’s well done.

So far on this thread the comment box is operating strictly under text tab rules,
Is this a way to make the text tab the default?
jeffreyw
And we’re back to two tabs.

She should recommend this book about Senator McConnell.

This is a couple of days old, but it’s still golden.
AOC easily handles right-wing fumbledick who tried to get snarky.

I was looking at the blogroll, below, and didn’t see Josh Marshall/TPM. Did I miss something or is he getting the Andrew Sullivan treatment?

@James E Powell
It is there, listed under News Sites.

Um, OK, I didn’t get the joke.
You may now draw lots for embarrassing me by posting the name of the guy I don’t recognize in the second panel.

Thanks. And I’m one of those who didn’t know there was a blogroll until Watergirls’ post explaining where it was. Scroll all the way down!

turtles have…hard backs.

@Uncle Cosmo:
The guy in the second panel is the guy from the first panel from a different angle. Does that help?
Also, a hardcover book is often called a “hardback,” but turtle shells are also hard and on the animal’s back. You’re welcome.

And worth 4 points on the democratic goodie scale.
