Within reason. Saw the last thread was getting a bit musty and crowded. Here’s a new one to play in.
Play nice
Although, doing Zumba 3 days a week means my head is full of reggaeton.
Buuuut, I can’t say I’m not partial to these moves once in a while.
Either way, have it! Trying to get some work done and failing -SPECTACULARLY.

I love that song. (Spell)

Whee! I’m going back to work tomorrow after two ER runs, two hospital stays, and two surgeries. My only saving grace right now is I hit my max payout with my insurance right before all this happened. Barring some freak charge somewhere I shouldn’t have to pay a dime for any of it.
EDIT: Also eating two slices of cheesecake. With zero regrets.

Nice to get Bill Barr out of my face.?

I thought that was Bill Barr under the kilt?

Makes perfect sense. One for dinner, one for dessert.

Caldo de res — De mi Rancho a tu cocina.
I stumbled upon this abuela’s cooking a few months ago. She now has nearly two million subscribers and she’s averaging something like two million views per video.
Just wonderful.
She now has the YouTube awards you get for subscribers and views up on her kitchen wall.

Starting to think we might reexamine student visas from Certain Countries.
Kiddo’s HS XC team qualified for Ca state championships, so Thanksgiving weekend in Fresno!

No, that’s just a standard ass.

Also, it’s quite some antidote for any misogyny. Or so I’ve heard.
mrmoshpotato
@trollhattan: Yeah. WTF?
Are these two women not aware of the freedom of speech we have in the US?
ruemara
@trollhattan: Sad. Very sad.
E
Why is it misogynistic to have in insanely attractive women dancing in videos? Every other video I see on MTV 2 has shirtless, steroid infested dudes as back up dancers to female artists and no one claims they somehow hate men for featuring attractive half naked men as dancers in their videos.
Yutsano
@trollhattan: Unfortunately not a surprise. The Chinese Communist Party keeps a very close track on its international students including making sure they toe the official party line. A lot of propaganda is still forced on them even here in the US. Incidents like these have been popping up on campuses wherever freedom for Hong Kong is brought up. When the Chinese Communist Party finally falls, there’s a lot of psychological damage that will have to be addressed.

We have ample reason at the moment to focus on Russia’s efforts to undermine us and Western Europe, but PRC represents a much more significant threat over time. And as Donny the Lesser has demonstrated, our ability to dominate or even manipulate them has evaporated.
I’ll be damned if I’ll tolerate their full-boat-tuition students bringing their speech-suppression tactics into our public universities. UC ain’t the NBA.

@mrmoshpotato:
The Party line, as I understand it, is that Chinese nationals do not have freedom of speech, no matter where in the world they might (temporarily) be. And if Hong Kong is part of China, then Hong Kong residents — even when they’re in the U.S. — have only as much freedom as speech as the Chinese government allows, at any given moment.
Some hardliners, as it’s reported, argue that anyone of ‘Chinese descent’ is “actually” a Chinese national — blood being more important than any migration or genetic mixing, even over multiple generations — so no individual arguably ‘Chinese’ should expect the kind of free speech non-‘Chinese’ Americans, Europeans, or Canadians.

@Yutsano:
Yikes! You’ve been through a lot. Fingers crossed that you really don’t have any medical bills to worry about on top of it. :-(
Maybe have a small 3rd slice for dessert. :-D
Fingers crossed going forward!
Cheers,

@Anne Laurie:
They should take that up with the PRC government, then, since it requires its citizens to renounce their citizenship if they are naturalized in another country. If they want the right to dictate how ethnically Chinese people in other countries behave, they shouldn’t force them to renounce their citizenship.
Yutsano
Thanks y’all. I feel a ton better especially since I’m approaching the amount of blood I’m supposed to have in my body that I haven’t had in a while. Slow GI bleeds are nothing to mess around with and several medical professionals have missed this until now.

I put a spell on you makes me remember I need to rewatch Mystery Train. I love that movie.
For the any of you that care, I raced yesterday. Our club got a new (very, very old) boat. We don’t own it, but we sail it, so we’ve been putting $10-$50 at a time into it. New halyards, new bits and bobs. Except our newbie sewed us new sail covers that are excellent. She spent too much, but she was into it.
So yesterday we went racing. Kurt, who races the boat next to us, had no crew. I went with him, and left two of our other club members to race Tenacious Too. Kurt and I came second, and I got to sail with someone who is ten times the sailor I am. I spend most of my time instructing n00bs, and it’s really hard to get better when you don’t sail with people better than you.
The depressing thing was he didn’t really do anything I don’t know how to do, he just did every little thing ten times better and concentrated on every little thing. Here’s hoping I can pick up some of his skill.
The club boat (TT) came in at the back of the class, but better than last time, partially due to our scrubbing and other work, partially to our club pres being a good sailor.
The club boat is going to get faster and faster, and by the middle of next summer we’re going to be complaining that our PHRF needs to be lowered so we don’t have to buy the beer for next week, as is the custom for the winners.
Mike J
@Yutsano: Wait, you went in AGAIN? WTF? Stop it dude.
Also, if you hit reply, then cancel, when you hit reply again, the comment box will have two reply (at) thingies. Which I’m sure is what’s giving you agita and causing ER runs. Stop it.

@E: The woman in the video is Anitta, as I understand it the biggest pop singer in Brazil right now. The men are the less successful ones and she might have hired them to be the eye candy.

As a journalist, I once covered a meeting between a delegation from the PRC and a group of Malaysian businesspeople, who as it happened were of Chinese ethnicity. The head of the delegation said he was pleased to meet with a group of “Chinese expatriates”. The leader of the Malaysian group was clearly offended. He stressed that he and his group were not expatriates from China, but Malaysian citizens of Chinese heritage. The head of delegation did not acknowledge his error or offer an apology.

The kilted coaches doing ballet was hilarious. I looked up and watched Chapters 2 and 3, and highly recommend Chapter 3. Ken comes to the Kilted Coaches gym, along with three local real ballet dancers, and they all do some exercise. It’s quite something.
(I used to take lots of ballet, and found my legs aping moves as I watched. The barre exercises, particularly, made me feel all nostalgic and stuff.)

@Roger Moore: “They should take that up with the PRC government, then, since it requires its citizens to renounce their citizenship if they are naturalized in another country.”
The PRC denies citizenship for greencard babies born outside of China.

@Amir Khalid:
I’m thinking about a number of my coworkers who are naturalized citizens originally from the PRC. They all wanted to keep their Chinese citizenship when they were naturalized but were forced to give it up. Every time they come back from visiting relatives in China, they complain about the petty inconveniences they encounter because they aren’t citizens. The most recent one is that most shops now take only electronic payment instead of cash. The electronic payment system only works with Chinese bank accounts, which only citizens can have. The net result is that non-citizens have trouble doing even the most mundane daily activities like shopping for for groceries. They’d be incensed to be told they’re actually citizens and can’t give it up no matter what they do, because when the actually tried to keep it they were told no in no uncertain terms.

Unless you are a medical pro who has either examined Yutsano recently, or reviewed his medical charts carefully recently, perhaps you should refrain from making negative forecasts about his health on the blog? Ya think?
He may well have had transfusions in hospital, or other therapy to boost his red blood cell count prior to release from hospital. We only know his doctors authorized his discharge, presumably because he is healthy enough to return to normal life!

@Yutsano: Sounds like we could have lost you. So glad you are still here with us!
