Biden has a nice ad out in response to Trump’s and Giuliani’s attempts at smearing him.
Desperate Donald Trump knows that I can beat him, so now he’s enlisting the help of a foreign government — once again. It’s an abuse of power and violates every basic norm of the presidency.
We cannot give him four more years in the White House.https://t.co/cqhkBUviAs pic.twitter.com/vXmH3lTW6k

Good to see a Democrat fighting back for a change!

Donald Tяump still thinks he can scare people into giving in to him. He still hasn’t learned how to navigate a world in which there are people he can’t scare away or buy off. It’s really kind of sad.

Good for Biden. It’s also the kind of ad that will help any Dem who gets the nomination, by reminding people how bad Trump really is.

Donald Trump thinks the U.S. is a business, his business. He doesn’t see him going to a foreign power and asking for oppo research as wrong – its because he believes he is entitled to use every possible power of the govt to enrich himself and to attack his enemies. Before long, the FBI and CIA will all be used against his opponents – the media, the democrats, and “activist judges”.
Jeffro
Biden is fighting back and fundraising off of this, so he’s clearly guilty of Clinton Crimes(!) Lock him up!
LOL
I have been having fun taunting RWNJ relatives with the proposition that “Mr. Innocent”, who never paid that porn star off, never colluded with Russia, never cheated on his taxes, clearly DID tell the prez of Ukraine “gimme dirt on Biden/make up dirt on Biden or you ain’t gonna get your Congressionally-approved money”. Like, out of nowhere, this saint committed obvious bribery/extortion with taxpayer funds to help him…um…COLLUDE.
AND BEST OF ALL: he did it to try and ding someone who isn’t even going to be the nominee!

Speaking this is a big fucking deal –
It looks like it’s the end game, and Bibi is very likely out and headed to either prison who will run home to Russia.

Chetan Murthy
@cain: I read a (somewhat depressing) piece over at Mondoweiss that pointed out that, given that the Overton Window in Israel goes from “softly softly settlement building” (on the left) to “ethnic cleansing and genocide” (on the far right), this almost certainly changes nothing for BDS. He described the Joint List (Arab parties) support for Gantz as harm limitation, plain and simple.
A Prime Minister Gantz would help American Zionists sell Israel to Democrats

It’s a good ad. Still not voting for Biden in the primary, but I’m feeling a little brewer at least about his team. That’s a good response.

Nice to see someone using Twitler’s own method against him, and I like Desperate Donald Trump better than the feeble effort de Blasio tried with “Don the Con.”
cmorenc
@Jeffro:
Your assumption that Biden won’t be the nominee is a bit premature to pronounce with such certainty. I do agree that he is a long way from being the certain nominee, but then so too are his closest rivals for the nomination. Long way to go, a lot can happen before anyone gets anything approaching an insurmountable lead toward the nomination.
For me, I am prepared to heartily support Biden, Warren, Harris, or just about any of the Ds running who still have a plausible shot at the nomination. Winning and defeating Trump in 2020 is a vastly more important goal than progressive purity in the nominee.
Joe Falco
Yay, Bulldogs win! I hope every Bulldog fan got their money’s worth for their $1000+ seats. It was a way too close game for comfort, and it was clear Notre Dame beat themselves more than UGA did.
TS (the original)
@cmorenc: Most people on BJ will support anyone against trump – that goes without having to be said, but I don’t think Biden will be the nominee – he has nothing more to offer than he had in his past 2 failed attempts other than being a friend of President Obama – the latter is well out of US politics and intends to stay out so will not be part of a Biden administration.
Jeffro
@Kay: I like this strategy!
I already know (anecdotally) that many Repubs are sad that the Dem field has shrunk in a normal fashion and that the Dem candidates are largely being respectful to each other and pretty close on the issues.
I guess they thought we were going to go to the convention with 50 candidates each at 2% in the polls or something? I dunnno. It’s hard to interpret RWNJ fever dreams (and really, who would want to?)
Hitlesswonder
@Smedley Darlington Prunebanks (formerly Mumphrey, et al.): I have seen nothing to indicate that Trump’s effort to discredit Biden has not already been successful. A lot of people now “know” that Biden abused his position as vice president to protect his son. On top of that, there’s nothing the House can do to see the whistleblower report, since the administration won’t give it to them. The House has already decided they aren’t going impeach Trump…the votes aren’t there…it will energize his base…the Senate won’t convict.
So…what happens now? One of two things…nothing happens and this will be regarded by the majority of Americans as simply one more failed witch hunt by the Democrats. Or, Ukraine produces evidence that is damning to Biden. If I were Ukraine, I certainly would do that…their survival as an independent nation likely depends on it. And then we will all get to hear Trump say that he could put Biden in jail, but he’s decided against pursuing charges at this time because he always puts America first.
I don’t like any of that, but that appears to be reality. I’d be very happy to be convinced otherwise…so if anyone feels I’m missing something please let me know.
Jeffro
@Mary G: “Desperate” = “weak” and so yeah I agree, it’s great framing.
Why is this stalwart defender of America’s borders, he who has gifted us with this beautiful economy, so far behind in the polls against every major Dem contender? It’s weird. It’s almost like…most Americans see through Don the Con?
Like, seriously: it used to be a given that ‘strong’ economy + powers of incumbency = automatic re-election. Something about this particular orange dingleberry makes people want to change horses. I wonder why that is?

@joel hanes: From what I read today, it was Giuliani, again, who hatched another brilliant gambit: go after individual Ukrainian reform politicians and smear them as being part of the ginormous and horrible Biden plot, the biggest plot of all plots. They are pushing back. And I also heard on the news that the head of the Ukrainian equivalent of the FBI says the Biden smear is BS, and Ukraine is telling Trump administration that if you want us to investigate Biden make a formal request and send some evidence.
So, maybe Giuliani will ride to the rescue again through rampaging dumbassery?
Glad Biden is pushing back hard on this. “Trump knows I’ll beat him like a drum”
Edit: Also heard some pundits on TV news talkies babbling that Ukraine has be very careful, and is in a dilemma, and will be afraid to do much to resolve the issue. I dunno. If the Trumpster crazy train is bearing down on you, maybe the careful thing is jump out the way as quick as you can, and then decide what to do next. Or raise the profile enough so lots of eyes on what Trump does to try to mess with you.

@Amir Khalid:
Yes, I think that would be good. I had a semi-retired Acer laptop, and when I first got it, with traditional Windows preloaded, I took out the harddrive with Windoze and put in a totally blank HD, and hooked up a data CD with an ISO for Linux installs. This was at least 4 or 5 years ago, because it was Win 7.
So when Watergurl called for testing, I said, How many Juicers run Linux? I do have an Andriod tablet also, butI thought of that semi-retired laptop. and the HD with a valid licensed copy of Windows still on it, and reinstalled that HD, and upgraded it to Windows 10, which I’m using to drive a mission to image two crates of old family pictures, with a Cannon scanner/printer at 600 dots per inch.
It’s working pretty well. I’ve uninstalled things, and installed an ad blocker, and turned on the Windows Defender which I hear is an OK firewall/virus protector. Many of the really faded pix can be improved a lot with editing darks and lights, bringing up the contrast, etc. I’ve learned a lot about that too.
And of course it’s possible to install and dual boot Linus beside Windows and pick which one you’re going to use today.
That’s my $.02 and I’m stickin’ with it!
It is bloat loaded with crap no jackal would want to use, some of which is hard to delete. But it appears to work sufficiently for the jobs I plan for it, scanning the photos and testing B-J Version 3. I’ll be able to cover testing most everything but Apple issues, and I understand there’s a lot of internal similarities between Apple systems and a flavor of Unix.
It did take a lot of bandwidth to get upgraded to a current version, but only like 5 or 6 hours to install and set up.

@Kent: If enough Ukrainian elected and appointed officials can be smeared through Giuliani’s disinformation campaign, it will create enough pressure so that the new Ukrainian government, which is led by a professional comedian, is unable to govern. This is only Ukraine’s second post Maidan government. The previous one was weak, but hung on. This new government is just that new. It is being led by a novice. And it remains to be seen just how weak or strong it is. All while Putin runs constant military operations in the parts of
westerneastern Ukraine he’s invaded.Philbert

@Chetan Murthy: The Joint List supporting Gantz is harm limitation for now, but the rule of these thing is that when the leftier candidate wins, no matter how squishy, the country moves left and when the rightier candidate wins, no matter how squishy, the country moves right. @Adam L Silverman: The Donbass refers to the Donets basin, and is the area around Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Luhansk in eastern Ukraine, as well as in southwestern Russia. The river originates in Russia, flows into Ukraine, the flows back into Russia, where it empties into the Don. The Dnieper is the major river west of the Donets, but it’s really more central Ukraine. I’m guessing the provinces that border Poland and Romania and countries in between are considered west Ukraine.

@Amir Khalid: Just bought a refurbished laptop. Depending on who did it, refurbished can be as good as new, especially since they take out wornout parts and replace them with equivalents. And the price can’t be beat, usually. Go for new only if you expect heavy usage or need to run the latest software.
A secret is that most software within the last 10 years (I have Word 2010 on my refurbished) is good for ordinary and home use. It’s the hardware that is usually the problem.
Steeplejack
@Amir Khalid:
Win10 is good; Pro edition is better than Home. Refurb depends on the brand name and from whom you’re getting it. My current Lenovo notebook was a refurb from (Amazon subsidiary) Woot, and it was indistinguishable from brand new.
Relatively new processor is good (i5 or better?), but RAM is probably more important: at least 8 GB, and 16 GB would be nice.

So that warrants impeachment, right?
No, it just means that we should try to vote Trump out in an election that he’s increasingly unafraid to try to rig because, once again, there will be no consequences.
I’m sorry, but if this is what constitutes ‘fighting back’ in the Dem lexicon, that’s pretty sad.

Democrats need to go on national TV every day and repeat the words “Donald J.
