On the Road is a weekday feature spotlighting reader photo submissions.
From the exotic to the familiar, whether you’re traveling or in your own backyard, we would love to see the world through your eyes.
These are the rest of the wildflower (etc.) I took on my last afternoon in Colorado in early August. It seems like a lifetime ago!
Have a great day and weekend, everybody. TaMara will be posting Monday and Tuesday, and we’ll see what I can brew up for Wednesday.

Beautiful pictures ?

#2 Indian Paintbrush (again, it’s a favorite of mine, you could start everyday with a pic of one and I’d be happy)
#3 Ragwort (I think, a lot of yellow wildflowers are similar)
#7 Yarrow
#8 a purple aster, which ever one is endemic to CO
Rob
Such beauty to start off the day.
OzarkHillbilly, thank you for these flower identifications.

#5 is probably an invasive thistle. Even the native thistles aren’t fun to play with.

If you get very much farther south and west, everything has prickles and thorns on it, even stuff that looks like grass is actually all prickles.
But they make nice pics if you don’t touch them at all~!~
Like your nice pics, Alain. No pics of the mushrooms? sad…
Alain
@J R in WV: thats Wednesday. And on that note, I can no longer dismiss my gurgling stomach. Time for food!

I’ve really enjoyed the wildflower pictures the last couple of days, Alain. Thanks for taking time on your road trip to photograph them, and for sharing the pictures with us.
Alain
@SiubhanDuinne: thanks! When I came around the bend and saw so many pretty flowers glowing in the late afternoon light, I knew that I had to take lots of pics to share.
Ok now I’m putting down the phone, must eat and get this day going.
Miss Bianca
What I see from my windows every day. Always makes me feel happy (even when they make me feel sneezy!)

Yay! More plant pictures, Thanks Alain!:
1. Fringed sage (Artemisia frigida) with shrubby cinquefoil in the background
2. Indian paintbrush, probably the same species as in yesterday’s photos (these are hard to ID from pictures)
3. A big Ragwort/groundsel, probably Senecio fremontii or S. flaccidus
4. Water speedwell (Veronica anagallis-aquatica)
5. One of those big, native thistles from the Rockies (probably Elk thistle, Cirsium scariosum)
6. Nailwort (Paronychia sessiliflora, a relative of the carnation)
7. Yarrow (Achillea borealis)
8. A purple aster (genus formerly known as Aster).
Alain
@Miss Bianca: yeah yeah yeah. Some of us had to travel halfway across the country to see them!
Hope all is well!

@sky: Thanks, Sky! I live in CO and love wildflowers; I knew names for all but two of those. I’ve always thought the nailwort was some kind of high altitude sedum.
