… Or maybe just a naked mole rat, which he resembles more and more. I’m guessing this will be the Media Village Idiot Hot Take by tomorrow…
It seems INAPPROPRIATE to be making AMERICAN FOREIGN POLICY just another tool for RATFUCKING the opposition party. https://t.co/jaz5RHTCfA

I still want to know what Giuliani did in conjunction with the NY FBI in 2016.https://t.co/HNRI6zGuxS

Ruckus
It’s drunks, pimps, thieves, whores, morons, and bigots all the way down. People who sell themselves for nothing, because that’s all they know they are worth.
I’m wondering if a lot of bigots are because that gives them something to feel better than, even if it’s just in their moronic minds and it isn’t real in any way.
Chetan Murthy
@Ruckus: You left out rapists and child molesters.
lgerard
Props to the first cable news producer who males Rudy blow into a breathalyzer before letting him appear on air
Raoul
@Chetan Murthy: Gym Jordan thinks Rudy won the night.

a bug that’s been buzzing around in my brain off and on for a while: 500 years ago or so, in the first weeks of this administration, when Republicans were still scared that trump would follow Bannon’s agenda (i.e., not tax cuts for the rich) and that people would give a shit about Russia, there was an intelligence briefing from which the whole Gang of Whatever the Fuck emerged, described as being visibly shaken. One of those Senators was, if memory serves, Dianne Feinstein. Seems to me she could do a lot of good for the world by spilling her guts, about that meeting, about everything she knows and isn’t supposed to tell. Let them prosecute. She’s older and richer than god. She can wait them out.
jl
@lgerard: No no, smart producers will push some more booze on him right before the segment, or just pour some vodka into a coffee mug and tell him it’s water. He’ll be too tanked up to know. As long as he can still talk, that will be a ratings win.
Adam L Silverman
@Jim, Foolish Literalist: She and Grassley both looked liked they were at a funeral. She wound up talking for her committee because he, the committee chair, couldn’t keep it together.
Raoul
BTW, the new Fox Nooz poll is out. Trump’s overall approval gyrated up two points, but in the details:
Foreign policy:
36% approve
54% disapprove
That may get worse, don’t you think?
Tom Q
@Adam L Silverman: I remember thinking, at the time, it was the same expression I’d seen on her face when she announced Mayor Mosconi and Supervisor Milk were dead. How has nothing further come of that?
Ruckus
@Chetan Murthy:
Not on purpose.
I wonder what other types of scum I left out?
There is after all a lot of different kinds of human scum. I think that most languages have many words for all the different kinds, meaning that it is a human problem, and may never get better. Shame isn’t it, none of the scum makes the world a better place. Art does that, nature does that (and more) music can do that, ideas can do that. Why is it that so many ideas are about scum, is it possible that scum actually has some place in the world? A reference point, what not to do. If that’s true, why is there so much scum? Maybe people try it for the thrill or the ease of it all and just get hooked…..
Ruckus
@Raoul:
That may get worse, don’t you think?
And sincerely hope.
For him.
Chetan Murthy
@Ruckus:
Oh, rest assured, I never thought that. I just pointed it out b/c it seems to be a key attribute of GrOPers, that they’re rapists and pedophiles. And misogynists. It’s clarifying to remind people of this at every opportunity.
Adam L Silverman
@Tom Q: She takes classification issues seriously. And Republicans, first Grassley and now Lindsey Graham, chair the Judiciary Committee and Mitch McConnell micro-manages his committee chairs.
Chetan Murthy
@Adam L Silverman:
Evidently more seriously than she takes our Republic. Or maybe she has secret inside information that this rampant dictator-in-the-making will be deposed before he can close the deal. I guess if she were certain of this, her inaction would be warranted.
“due process” isn’t a suicide pact.
dww44
@Adam L Silverman: Help. Exactly when was this? Was it after Trump was inaugurated?
Jim, Foolish Literalist
@dww44: March 15, 2017– still combing through google results on Grassley Feinstein Comey meeting for a good write up (i.e. neither The Hill, Byron York or the Palmer Report), but here’s a start. Here’s video of Feinstein speaking for herself and Grassley.

Don’t know which of these threads fits this the most.
No need to know who they all are or why they’re where they are. It’s an exacting portrait of someone.
Timurid
@Tom Q:
It may just have been stuff we ended up learning later via the Mueller report. But the big problem with that report, even more so than Barr’s interference, is the two years of normalization that took place while it was completed. Revelations that would have caused panic in 2017 drew shrugs in 2019.
Jim, Foolish Literalist
@Timurid: I thought when trump told Lester Holt he fired Comey because of the Russia investigation (May, ’17), it was big news. I thought when the news came out that Fredo, Manafort and Trust-Fund Gilligan met with the Russians and lied about it (July, ’17), it was something close to earth-shattering. The collective electorate shrugged.
SWMBO
@Jim, Foolish Literalist: In all the co conspirators that Mueller filed charges against, why did he never file charges against DJTJ and Jared? Prosecute them and make him pardon them. Then have state charges lined up that Big Don couldn’t pardon. I’m beginning to think Mueller wasn’t as straight an arrow that he was made out to be.
LongHairedWeirdo
Once the GOP lied their asses off about how Hillary Clinton might face criminal charges, most of the rest – like having the FBI try to hamstring her – follows quite naturally. I mean, they chose to use law enforcement against a political opponent, defended and supported a man who threatened to jail her unjustly – all the rest of this is just a matter of degree. We now know that they not only will sic the law on people who piss them off, we also know they’ll cover for blatantly criminal (and obviously corrupt) activity.
This is why impeachment, or indictment, is so necessary, but so is the destruction of the entire corrupt house of cards.
BlueDWarrior
@LongHairedWeirdo: and that is fed by 27% of the country saying that a right-wing dictatorship is preferable to allowing liberals any power.
The Right has decided that either they will rule or there won’t be a country left when they’re done with it. And too much of the middle isn’t under enough duress to actively stop them.

Take heart in knowing that Judith Nathan will be taking Rudy to the cleaners over the next few months.

@Jim, Foolish Literalist:
Interesting to read the crawl while she was speaking. Ah, it was a kinder, gentler time, wasn’t it? //

This can’t end well. One thing about the various Intel agencies, we (the people) know law enforcement is always a little conservative. We’re OK with that. Our expectation is they subvert their personal notions and do their jobs. Now we are seeing they don’t and the rest of the Intel community isn’t policing their own. What’s left to trust? Really that is the bad ending. It won’t be the demise of Trump as this ending will long follow Trump. It’ll be that liberals and Democrats in particular won’t trust the Intel communities to be honest players. The Intel communities are doing Putin’s work for him and they don’t seem to realize that. How does that happen with people who are supposed to be aware?
Procopius
@LongHairedWeirdo:
How old are you? You don’t remember the Old Queen (J. Edgar Hoover), do you? This is what the FBI has always been, and the office of the Attorney General and the whold Department of Justice. Do you remember the names John Mitchell, Edwin Meese? Progressives should never believe that the FBI are honest brokers. They consider PETA and The Sierra Club violent terrorists.
