In which @erictrump inadvertently helps @Fahrenthold recruit new sources.
— Jack Shafer (@jackshafer) September 6, 2019
I’m absolutely sure Eric sent this *EXCORIATING* tweet on blast to every single Trump employee, because that Fahrenthold guy made him so BIGLY MAD.
Hopefully somebody (many somebodies) will screenshot Eric’s message, before he reads (has somebody read to him) the replies:
Anyway, if anyone wants to leave a tip about the Trump Org for the Washington Post, Eric was kind enough to broadcast to the entire internet exactly how to do so.

Eric, what would an unprofessional letter that contains an attachment with your father's tax returns look like? You are very smart. Show us.
— Mark Harris (@MarkHarrisNYC) September 6, 2019
Only pro-Eric response I’ve seen, so far, with response:
Actually no, he'd use what he obtained as leads to determine if there's a story. Then if he thought there was a story, he'd investigate, look for people to corroborate it, on record plus other concrete evidence, hence the secure drop off options. That's why he's a Pulitzer winner

I confess that I’m impressed with the myriad ways his sons manage to prove that they’re dumber than Dad.

I listened to his Fresh Air interview yesterday (highly recommended). I don’t think he’ll ever run out of leads.
mrmoshpotato
Why is ‘Somewhere a Village is Missing its Idiot’ in the sarcasm category? ?
It’s more like a village is missing a family of idiots.
mrmoshpotato
@debbie: David Fahrenthold interviewed Will Smith? That’s ummm unexpected.
Enhanced Voting Techniques
Stuff like this is why I am skeptical that there was an active conspiracy between the Trumplings and the Russians. The Russians have enough sense to know the Trumps can’t keep their mouths shut, and anyway, it would be easy enough to get a Trump to do what one wants by spaming them with anonymous e-mails.
And you know Eric is waiting for that Nigerian prince to get back to him.
mrmoshpotato
@Enhanced Voting Techniques: Anyone have Tweedle Dumbfucker”s email? I can play a Nigerian prince in email land.

@mrmoshpotato:
Umm, no. Fresh Air is an NPR interview show. You can either listen to the interview or read a transcript of the interview here.

@Darrin Ziliak (formerly glocksman): TPM had a nice collection of responses. I liked this one:
Chetan Murthy
It’s an OT, and so I figured it would be OK if I urged anybody who’s in CA, to call their state assembly{wo,}man to urge them to vote for SB206, the “decently compensate these young people who bash their brains out for our amusement” act (aka “Fair Pay To Play” act).
I just called my assemblyman’s office (David Chiu) and his staffer was very nice and thanked me for expressing my opinion, told me that they’re avidly tracking comments on this. And then I called my Senator to thank him for getting it thru the Senate already.
King “Lebron” James is for it!

LeBron James was apparently quite the asshole when he was a teen in Akron and signed onto the Cavaliers. However, recently (the last 10 years) he seems like a really nice guy. Good for him!

This Robert Smith character isn’t exactly the brightest bulb in the drawer either now, is he? *grin*
mrmoshpotato
@MattF: 42. Oops, -42.
SFAW
WTF? When did he lose it? And to whom? And why wasn’t I told about it???
Of course, if you want to “revise and extend” the title to something like “EricWidens His Lead for ‘Dumbest Trump Offspring’ Title.” that would also work.

Honest-to-FSM’s-Noodle, I don’t follow any of these hand-egg/ball/saucer/disc sports, except when somebody who is reckoned the best player of their generation is doin’ their thing. And not even so much then. He seems to be one of those players, and unlike the previous one in hand-big-ball-ring [MJ] he seems to have a decent conscience [as in “decency”]. So that’s all good.
Chetan Murthy
@Enhanced Voting Techniques:
One day we’ll know how much dosh he owes them, and on that day, it’ll all be clear. Indeed, the Drumpf-lings are imbeciles to a {wo,}man; I don’t doubt that they’re sieves. But (a) they’ve done an excellent job of keeping their business affairs with the Russkies secret [to the extent of being legally actionable; who cares about what’s said in the press, right?] and (b) it doesn’t take two to have an active plan of interference: it takes one, and another to just go along with it all based on hints and nudges.

Why work for a D-, when you can relax and get an F (and still get paid) ?
The way I heard it, all his adult kids (probably with the exception of Tiffany) very well know they’re entering into a transactional relationship with El Pere, and they know it’s in order to get fuckin’ PAID. When you start off like that, start off like that, is it any wonder that they don’t cultivate any/any/any of the skills required to make it in the real world?
Why would a remora learn to hunt and swim and evade all? It just sits there and eats scraps from its host animal’s dinner plate. Just gotta make sure to keep the host animal sweet.

I really hate this timeline.

There are many very rich people that don’t like being told they are wrong about anything. The Trumps are a particularly egregious example. They don’t evolve and always expect to get their way because people in their circle of power always accede. Yet another reason to limit the size of fortunes and amount of power an individual may have.
Chyron HR
@tokyokie:
They can’t help being ugly, the President didn’t want to pay to make them more fuckable.
JPL
@TaMara (HFG): President trump you said that there was a 95% chance. can you show me that map sir.
Roger Moore
@dmsilev:
I’m not. Don Sr. would never allow someone around him who he believed would be able to upstage him in any way, even his offspring. If they want to remain in his good graces, they have to prove they’re no threat by occasionally doing something really stupid.
bbleh
So they say “genius skips a generation.” Fred was, in a ruthless and @ssholic way, something of a genius. I mean, he made enough money that Donnie could skate through life burning it like gas and last until the Russians decided to use him as a laundry. So my question, is, what is UP with Junior and Eric? I mean, the generational trend-line here is straight as an arrow! And ok, Ivanka isn’t as dumb as they are, but genius she ain’t.
Although perhaps it’s best that, in this case, the rule has failed.

@TaMara (HFG): Notice the weasel words – “tropical storm force winds from Hurricane Dorian.” Trump didn’t say lesser winds,which are what tropical storm force winds are as compared to hurricane force winds, were going to impact Alabama. He said the fucking HURRICANE was going to hit Alabama. Fucking liars, all the fucking way down.
Gelfling 545

@EthylEster:
“Owning” someone means beating them at some activity. Conservatives are obsessed with “owning the libs” by doing something liberals supposedly don’t like and then bragging about it. Liberals have turned this around and started mocking conservatives whenever they do something to “own the libs” that is stupid and counterproductive by describing it as “doing [stupid thing] to own the libs”.

@bbleh: Is Ivana an idiot? I thought Trump dumped her because she was better at business than he was.
RSA
@JPL:
Also: Mr. President, sir, when you mentioned Alabama on Sunday your information was already two days out of date. Sir, wouldn’t a real President be to keep up with daily events?
Chetan Murthy
@bbleh:
I would dispute both sentences. Maybe “genius skips (at least) a generation”. Not as catchy, but more reality-based. And as for Fred: this is survivorship bias. I remember reading an article about the expected earnings of drug dealers: they were lower than working at McDonalds. The thing is, the variance was enormous. So even while most drug dealers would be better-served by going to work at McDo’s, there were a few who made out like bandits. Fred Drumpf is one of those who survived, is all. Lots didn’t, and we don’t know their names.
Remember Warren Buffett’s famous story? “take 1024 fund managers; every year, kill half. At the end of 10 years, you’re down to one: imagine how invincible that guy feels!” There was even a movie about this (as IIRC): _Intacto_.

Heh, indeed.
But OTOH, the thing about Intacto was that the contests were contests of sheer luck. So (just as with our fund manager) after enough such contests, you feel like one lucky sonofabitch, right? Whereas in _Highlander_, at some level it’s about who’s the better swordsman, neh?

To think about it another way, imagine 1024 people gambling on coin flips. They play an elimination tournament, where one of them gets heads, the other gets tails, and whoever wins gets both of their money. At the end of the tournament, one guy has won 10 times in a row, has all the money, and thinks he’s a genius at calling coin flips.

He has had his issues with Cleveland but he’s been great to Akron from the beginning.

Skepticat
Not that I wish ill on anyone else (with a few exceptions, mostly Rethuglicans), but I do wish damned Dorian had indeed gone to Alabama and left the Abacos alone. It’s apocalypse now, and I doubt the Abaco will ever recover. My house is a pile of splinters, and not a house on the island escaped some damage; more than three-quarters were, like mine, absolutely leveled. Marsh Harbour is seeing death, looting, and violence, and although there are mandatory evacuations of women and children, there are few ways for them to get out and few places to go. Some of my friends have only Haitian passports, so you know they can’t go to the States. They say we’ll be without electricity for a year, and I doubt I can afford to rebuild. And I’m so busy dealing with handling all the communications for the island that I can’t get to the vet my precious cat going into renal failure.

@Skepticat: Oh no. I am so sorry for you and have no idea whatsoever what to do to help. Except to talk to people and get more active and vocal in regards to climate change. My own tiny town got hit with a deluge over 10 years ago. Not as massive as yours by any means, but 10″ of water in a day in New England with steep hillsides– they could not find property lines, houses washed down the valley as splinters, trucks torn apart. So I’ve seen a bit of awfulness firsthand.
