“Thank you to Wayne Allyn Root for the very nice words. “President Trump is the greatest President for Jews and for Israel in the history of the world, not just America, he is the best President for Israel in the history of the world…and the Jewish people in Israel love him….

…..all Jews, Blacks, Gays, everyone. And importantly, he’s good for everyone in America who wants a job.” Wow! @newsmax @foxandfriends @OANN
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 21, 2019
I realize that when the President and his surrogates are called out to explain or respond to this, the answer will be that he’s just retweeting something complimentary that Wayne Allen Root said and/or wrote about him. And that it is part of him counter-punching and punching back at those, especially the Jewish Americans, pushing back against his statements yesterday about loyalty and disloyalty. But the level of sycophancy in Root’s comments about the President and delusion in the President’s repackaging those comments and blasting them out to the world are just astounding.
Here’s some quick background on Root, who is a conspiracist.
Wayne Allyn Root has at various times suggested Seth Rich might have been murdered by Hillary Clinton, John Podesta and even former New York AG Eric Schneiderman.

Also, on a semi-related matter, if you’re wondering why the President cancelled his Denmark trip, methinks this might have had something to do with it.
.@maggieNYT very shrewd. This isn't about Greenland. Obama scheduled to visit Denmark 9/28. Trump was scared of the likely contrast to his state visit on 9/2-3. https://t.co/BsRvpMQ8Xj

I can’t believe I’m in a mood today where I’m desperately hoping that the President is too dumb to understand basic Christian symbolism (king of the Jews, second coming) because any other interpretation is so awful.

“Any man who must say ‘I am the King’ is no true king.” – Tywin Lannister
the horrifying thing, the self-proclaimed judges of faith – the evangelicals, the greedy, the corrupt powers in high places – will cheer trump’s blasphemy on even though trump is performing every act as an honest-to-God Antichrist (a false person who claims to speak for Christianity but defiles every teaching and act Jesus ever made).
Cheryl Rofer
Basically, Root said Trump is the Second Coming, and Trump agreed with him. This is the classic pop understanding of a person who has lost it.

From before he was president the fact that he cannot speak on any subject without large numbers of Republicans following him around explaining to us what he really meant regardless of what he said. Only in the US are clear indicators of potential serious mental health issues considered to be positive indicators of fitness for high public office or private positions of responsibility.

I was at one of his services (required attendence). Really creepy. He’d walk back and forth sort of threatening different parts of the congregation, then would thrust out his arms and call down ‘the spirit’ and some would fall down laughing uncontrollably.

Or, I might add, wars in the Middle East. Every time I’ve been slapped down by a national security type on the basis that religion doesn’t play a part in decisions on who should be in office.
So let’s separate it from religion: If someone believes that a world-destroying war in the Middle East is a good idea, they shouldn’t be in office.
There’s a lot more to say on this – the religion issue is real, but we have religions in this country that are, as you say, signs of problematic mental health. We need to think more about what is actually protected by the First Amendment. Separating actions from beliefs is part of it.

I think part of what we are seeing with Trump is mental deterioration from even a few years ago. But I also think it is the result of the previous positions he has taken leaving him fewer and more desperate moves as the
gamepresidency continues. I am reminded of a chess game I played with a friend who happened to be a chess master. The bad positions I took early on restricted my movements as the game moved on, until I was left with just a few really desperate things I could do towards the end. Holy shit. Trump calls Danish prime minister “nasty.” Also, he once again conflates himself with the country.
Previously, Trump’s most churlish, sullenly resentful remarks were targeted at domestic foes. But he is fully unrestrained here, and determined to make an enemy out of an ally.
The UK Daily Mail reported on this, and their reader comments, which usually are full of people supporting Trump, this time more often reflect mockery and disgust. But there are a few diehards who still defend Trump and actually bash the Danish prime minister.
Trump’s remarks on the respect that he is due is fully in keeping with his vile remarks about what Jewish people supposedly owe him.

How cool is it that the one place I’ve been to in Denmark is this little university town called Aalborg up in the north, and that’s where Obama is going?
I even have a little piece of Aalborg in me, a dental filling I had to have replaced while I was there. I have told fundamentalist Xtians of my acquaintance for years that if the Antichrist ever came to power, he would be a Republican President, he would claim to be a Christian, he would insist that it was his faith in the teachings of Jesus Christ that led him to hate poor people and want to start wars, and that fundamentalist Xtians would vote for him overwhelmingly.
But I must admit that even I was shocked to realize that the Antichrist wouldn’t even need to try to pass as a Xtian. That it would be possible to win the loyalty of evangelicals despite a complete and utter ignorance of the Bible.

I guess Trump not going to Denmark because Obama is going 2 weeks later is more reasonable than the idea that Denmark won’t consider selling Trump Greenland. But in all honesty is it reasonable at all to back out of the visit because you 1) don’t want to get shown up by a black man & 2) give and excuse about not being able to negotiate the purchase of a foreign territory? No.

@TenguPhule: Idaho is one of the fastest growing states in the nation. It’s not big, but the in-migration from both other states and other countries is significant, though unlikely to shift the outcome of statewide elections anytime soon. It’s not just housing costs, it’s also the purchase of land that has long been viewed as subject to “common” rights. It’s a little terrifying to think of the kinds of conflicts like this that are going to rise to the surface over the next few years.
Brachiator
@TenguPhule:
More complicated than that. The most recent Spidey movie grossed a billion bucks and Disney only got a relatively small piece of that, and merchandise rights. Both sides are greedy bastards, but a huge degree of the creativity in the films came from Disney/Marvel. The Sony chief is not noted for his movie smarts. It’s too bad that these dopes could not find a way to make this work. But I fear that Sony will fuck it up big time.

@Kay: There are people in my family that are conservative evangelicals. Although they couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Trump, they didn’t vote for anyone for president in 2016, they agree with other conservative Christians that abortion and gay marriage are the biggest problems in the US and that the US would be punished if we allow these things to continue. Everything else can be overlooked if eventually the country transforms into their version of a Christian country.
I don’t know what they’ll think now that Trump has become crazier. Maybe the excuse will be that he’s bad but that God can bring good out of a bad situation, like this had to happen for there to be a conservative Supreme Court.

That’s the weird thing about narcissists — they care what people think of them to the extent that they get enraged when they find out that other people don’t think as highly of them as they (pretend to) think of themselves. They have no ability to actually read other people or adjust their wants and needs to what others want and need, so they end up raging a LOT when they discover that other people have different thoughts and desires. In many ways, they really are emotional toddlers who never learned to differentiate between themselves and others.

In the family I grew up in, there were 7 children, my oldest sister died. She was a liberal Democrat. Of the six remaining 4 are liberal Democrats and two are conservatives.
To be honest the people I’m most angry at are the leaders of certain evangelical churches. I know my family members are adults and are ultimately responsible for their views but I hate the way these pastors constantly prioritize abortion and anti-gay theology above everything else. I feel like people who craved companionship and a sense of community have been manipulated by them.

@CindyH: I learned how to say “I don’t speak French. Do you speak English?” in French. Simple phrase. I found that if you made an attempt, and used words like “Merci”, it went a very long way.
I recall my wife and I had dinner at a cafe with sidewalk seating a block from the Eiffel Tower. An American couple at the next table was complaining about how rude the French were. Apparently their strategy for communication was to speak English louder, as if that would solve the communications gap. Then they watched us interact with the waiter and order dinner via pointing at the menu and holding up fingers, plus a few “Merci” and “S’il vous plait”. The waiter was all smiles and friendly – to us. American couple got mad and left.

Driving home, I listened to an NPR interview with an American rabbi in regard to Trump’s statements about support of Democratic candidates equaling anti-Semitism. Interestingly, the rabbi several times used the term “Jew” instead of “Jewish person,” yet she was not called out as anti-Semitic by the interviewer. The offer to buy a section of the Danish population (and the land they occupy) was an insult… Demanding an invitation to a State Visit, and then spurning it at the last minute (by Twitter), that was an insult… Then claiming that a rejection of his advances was an insult not just to him but to all of the US, requiring an insult to the Danish PM (and by extension, all of Denmark)…
All Danish politicians are united in their contempt and disgust with Trump at the moment. It does not bear thinking about the outcry if the invitation to visit were to be renewed.
