Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

I personally stopped the public option…

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

This is all too absurd to be reality, right?

The house always wins.

And we’re all out of bubblegum.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

Shocking, but not surprising

If senate republicans had any shame, they’d die of it.

Nevertheless, she persisted.

False Scribes! False Scribes!

Lighten up, Francis.

Shock troops for the Unitarian Jihad.

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

We have all the best words.

Naturally gregarious and alpha

Consistently wrong since 2002

The willow is too close to the house.

Shelter in place is one thing. Shelter in pants is quite another.

Something seems odd about that, but i have been drinking.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

I did not have this on my fuck 2020 bingo card.

Let there be snark.

Late Evening Cat Bleg: Orville and Wilbur Need a New Home!

Commenter Matthew Reid Krell reached out on behalf of a friend of his with an urgent cat bleg for a pair of brothers in Louisville, Kentucky:

Okay, animal rescue friends: the lovely woman who adopted our two cats six years ago—who adored them—passed away on Monday. She was 10 years older than I am. Her husband called me today to ask if I could either take them or rehome them.

They are beautiful cats. Their names are Orville (the black one) and Wilbur (the grey). They are brothers. 14 years old. Birthday is April 19, 2005. We rescued them when we lived in Wisconsin and only rehomed them when they became horribly stressed in an apartment we were living in thanks to the landlord’s dog. We moved them in with Shari and David, a lovely childless couple who doted on them and cared for them. They have been really well-cared-for and loved.

With Stephen being on one leg and with my (now decidedly confirmed by the doctor) allergies, we really aren’t in a position to give them the home they deserve.

Who do you know? Who can I contact? I will pay all vet expenses to have them checked and have shots updated. I will transport them. I would pay sponsorship to a foster family for all upkeep.

I love these cats. I wish I could bring them home. I can be reached at [email protected] to start the process of getting Orville and Wilbur into a loving home for their twilight years.

Okay you lot of jackals, you know what to do. And here’s some more pictures of these handsome gentlemen as incentive!

As far as I know the baby is not up for adoption.

Orville and Wilbur are beautiful cats. Clearly, they have the Wright Stuff.

Wish I could take them. They look very sweet.

I’d love to take them, only I’m outvoted in our household. I’m lucky I have my dog.

Chunky bois! I wish I could take them but I don’t think it would be wise to introduce them to my 18 y/o cat diabetic cat. It might stress him out a ton.
I hope Orville and Wilbur (cute names!) get the home they deserve

Totally maxed out out on cats here or I would take them in a heartbeat. I’m in for shipping costs or any other misc expenses that might crop up.

Would love to, but we currently have three kittehs in various stages of the due diligence process related to adopting us. In accordance with the tradition of naming cats after Duke athletes, they are tentatively called C.J., Zion, and Ibby.

I know we’ll find them lovely homes! They look so very, very sweet. Luckily, I have self-control or would be bringing them here where we are definitely at capacity.

    Lovely cat boys.

I’m off to Greece for ten days next week! :) My girlfriend is finally going to tell me she loves me haha :-)

Thank you (and others as well) I’m there for a conference, giving a talk next friday, but the following weekend I’m meeting up with her for a romantic get away in Crete. We developed feelings rather quickly (especially me). It’s going to be great. :) The one you should have thoughts and prayers is when I tell my parents. :-) I think they were hoping for another Indian girl… they are going to be very confused with a black woman – :D

Um, ok. We’re not really ready for a new cat, much less 2, but damn. I was kind of hoping for a bit of a break from kittehs after losing Rory Underfoot, so I’d like to wait and see if someone more local is keen, because we’re in San Diego. Now, we still have a house to sell in LEX, so we could collect them fairly soon, but then they’d get moved into a not really functional house, and then moved again. The long trip would be a bit of a challenge. We’ve flown cats cross country from Kentucky to SD before, but only one at a time. And tbh, after 35 years of having cats, it’s a bit of a relief to have a break, so yeah, I hope they can find someone in the Ville or nearby to give them a good home, but AL has my email if needed. They look so sweet.

    Yeah.

    I loved Po-Po because SWMBO loved Po-Po.

He never gave me the time of day, despite growing him pansies and salads,

    Until he had his stroke.

Loved him, loved him, unrequited love, untill the end.

Hi everybody! Much appreciation for the kind words for Orvie and Willie. They’re good boys who have earned a comfortable retirement. Can confirm that baby is not available for adoption.

As said in the original post, Robin (the person looking for a home for them) is willing to pay basically whatever it takes to get them into a safe and loving home, and her e-mail is in the post. If you think you can help, I would encourage you to reach out to her directly.

They look absolutely darling. Consider me another Last Resort: I already have two cats, and am in Seattle.

I should ask how they are with other cats; if they’ll stand up for one another if – as is entirely likely – mine try to bully them.

Also: are they indoor/outdoor, or strictly indoor? My guys go out pretty much as they please, though it’s not mandatory.

Honestly, if you can find someone on the East Coast, that would be better. But I can’t stand the thought of their having to go to a shelter.

(My internet went out as I was typing this yesterday. Crossing fingers that it stays up long enough to post.) @Yarrow:

Something about the way this is written makes me really sad. The wife dies on Monday and a day or two later the husband is like, “okay, cats gotta go” even though his wife adored them. There has to be more to this story.

Our last older rescue, the late and lamented Gumbie Cat originally known as Punkin, was rehomed because after the wife died, the husband had to move into assisted living.

Personally, I think that these Wright Brothers belong in NC with me.
