Saturday Night Cheap Shots Open Thread: Kid Rock Is Trending & He Isn’t Even Dead…

… although he might’ve written his own professional obituary, if Molly Jong-Fast’s tweet is any indication. Turns out Rum-Tum-Sleazy is *not* one of the Jellicle Cats!

Ah, well, he’s still got his biggest fan…

Who the *#! even is Kid Rock? The only context I ever run across his name is that he’s a right-wing Trump-supporting celebrity, but unlike say, Ted Nugent, I cannot even begin to connect his name to any sort of actual purported music (other than that his name “Rock” suggests something vaguely in the pop-rock field). At least with Nugent, he’s a mediocre sorta metal-rock guitarist aside from being an asshole; Kid Rock I know nothing apart from the asshole part.

Nope, white boy rap to start and now country. Because of course.

Upside of this kreffluffle is that when I did an internet search yesterday to find out what set Kid Rock off on his twitter ‘ratio’ suicide mission, there was plenty of stuff on Taylor Swift’s recent political activity. So, over last couple of months, she’s been coming out as a miserable lefty on several hot button issues, including gun control, supporting HRC in 2016, as well as LGBTQ.

I also read that Swift and Beyonce have been talking about figuring out a good duo set for several years. We need to all write them that we’ll simply DIIIEE if they don’t do it, preferably at a Democratic fund raiser. Put some star and heart emojies in the message.

Me myself an I think a Swift Beyonce duet will be nothing special. Styles too different. But who cares?

Also, idea that Kid Rock would try to ape Insane Clown Posse is an insult to Insane Clown Posse, and I truly did not believe that was possible.

Serious question for BJ legal squad: Mulvaney can be impeached, right? If so, need to put him on the ever growing list of Trumpster officials who we should start with, before we get to Trump.

Mulvaney Admits To Ulterior Motive For Suspicious Move Of USDA Experts
“Now, it’s nearly impossible to fire a federal worker,” he continued Friday, citing his own experiences. But by simply saying to workers that they would have to move “out into the real part of the country,” the agency had achieved its goal.

“What a wonderful way to streamline government, and do what we haven’t been able to do for a long time,” Mulvaney said. Applause rolled across the Silver Elephant fundraising gala.

And in history of Deep State news, read that federal agricultural statistics program goes back to 1863. So, clearly we have the origin of the Deep State plot against Trump pinned down to some time between 1786 and 1863. Stay tuned for more news from this important investigation

Okay obviously someone would in this shithole of a country. “People” magazine exists for some reason… Thus we endeavor this idiot mental exercise, “The Battle of the Elite Pretty people (Kid cRock excepted – he’s uglier than sin, but as close to “pretty” as anyone in the chump camp.)”

    Another Scott says:

    It’s a day ending in “y”, so… Bloomberg:

Joe Biden said he was vice president when the deadly high school shooting in Parkland, Florida, took place. Except, it happened in 2018, more than a year after he left office — the latest gaffe by the Democratic presidential front-runner.

Biden told reporters in Iowa on Saturday that “those kids in Parkland came up to see me when I was vice president.” But when they visited Capitol Hill to talk with members of Congress, lawmakers were “basically cowering, not wanting to see them. They did not want to face it on camera.”

The former vice president was making a point about the changing conversation around gun violence in this country, and how as more and more ordinary people are touched by mass shootings, they are more likely to call for action.

An official with the Biden campaign said the former vice president was thinking of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, when he misspoke. That attack, in which 20 children between six and seven years old were killed along with six staff members, was in December 2012.

Go home, Joe. You’ve got a decent message on many things, but you’re not the right messenger.

I’ve managed to continue knowing almost nothing about Kid Rock, but I recently saw a really excellent drag king performance that was a lipsync of “Bawitdaba”—impersonating a much older Kid Rock who’s let himself go, not the 1998 version. Anyone whose shtick involves a lot of cartoonish aggro masculinity is perfect for drag, and the performer (can’t remember their name unfortunately) somehow managed to give it a kind of awkward earnestness so that the song’s attempt at a social message came across as way more sincere, and also made the chug-chug guitar stuff seem more convincingly energetic by jumping all over the stage. It was quite something.

@Omnes Omnibus: Honestly Snow isn’t even really rap. He’s more doing a modern Sprechstimme. If you listen, he follows a melodic pattern that true rap doesn’t.

And no I’m not conning you to listen. I’m good because Snow was part of my high school experience.

@Yutsano: If we want to head down that road, what he was doing was “toasting, ” It is a Jamaican vocal style that has roots back to Africa. It isn’t rap but it is, shall we say, rap’s cousin.

And as long as were are talking aboot Snow, we shouldn’t forget this.

@:Jim, Foolish Literalist: Whateves Foolish Centralist. Your lame meet in the middle mediocrity will produce precisely jack and squat. I don’t deny that lame-o’s like Biden will probably get a lot of votes, and will likely end up in the oval office, (provided we get our shit together) but he will not move this country forward. For the record Sanders is an idiot – Warren is awesome but apparently uneletectable according to this wankhole, and Harris is the end-all-be-all. I have no problem with that, except the rest of the ~90% (or 88% or 84% whatever you pedantic fuckers!) of this fucking country currantly doesn’t agree. We have to herd cats and that is beyond all our present abilities – especially as we want to rip each other’s faces off in the name of pretty white chicks. (Yes, I’m the instigator here – thank you Mr/Ms Pedant – see below)

@Jay: Jezuz Jay. Look, I like perky ya-ya’s as much as the next straight guy. What I don’t like is someone relying on the authority of their ya-ya’s (and/or pretty white face) to make a point. Political or otherwise. I agree that any port in the storm is a good thing, I just want someone who (or whom – whatever you fucking pedantic assmunches!) I can rely on when shit goes down. Right now Ms Swift is a fair weather friend for all we know. She’s been consistent, but I want someone who’s (/”whom is”- eat shit you fuckers!) going to the wall. We’re all going to the wall, and very soon. If that makes me a pie-able, well, I mourn this site. Shit is happening right now, and there is little escape. What side are you on? Or does it matter with you being Canadian? (and yes – I really hate the fucking pedants on this site – eat shit you anal retentive assholes!… though I learn a lot from you… I’m such a wussy lib.)

Maybe. Could just be a self-important, self-righteous asshole, with a need to tell everyone/anyone to “Fuck Off I’m RIGHT and You All Fucking Suck!”

Not sure which one applies here.

And, yes, I saw what you did there.

I was thinking well maybe Rock is right because Harvey Weinstein didn’t just happen by himself. But then, any conservative uses the American flag as pair of pants is the south end of a north bound horse. These loser can’t even be consistent to their own ideology.

Also, Clay Akien told my Clay Akien fan girl mom, it’s just just the women, even the male talent are expected to “suck everyone in Hollywood off” and they aren’t given a choice. So Kid Rock knows all about advancing musical careers with oral sex.

Argh. I like a couple of his “songs” esp Cowboy, but like Nickleback and even Nugent, their politics make them unacceptable to buy.

I will, um, borrow their songs from YouTube.
