FloridDuh! Woman: Electoral Edition

This is a little too on the nose for even Florida if you ask me.

Loomer is originally from the Miami area, but who has lived in Arizona and New York as well, has, apparently recently moved back Florida just to run for Congress. The Democratic incumbent is Lois Frankel, who has been representing this district,  since 2017 and prior to that represented Florida as the representative from District 22, which after redistricting is now represented by Congressman Ted Deutch.  Frankel has also been the mayor of West Palm Beach, and was the minority leader in the Florida state House of Representatives.

From what I know of Loomer – deliberatively and almost shamelessly provocative, racist and bigoted, especially against Muslims, friendly with either those in the alt-right and extreme right circles playing footsie with white supremacists and neo-NAZIs or actually with white supremacists, neo-NAZIs, the men’s rights nutbars and Milo, as well as being a fantacist and a conspiracist – I think the real reason for Loomer’s run is both to suck up money through donations and to force social media platforms to let her back on. I fully expect that she is going to use her candidacy to try to force twitter, Instagram, and YouTube to let her back on and monetize those platforms because if they don’t they’re aiding her political opponent in the election. All while monetizing her election as an income stream because she doesn’t actually have any actual employment.

@debbie: This likely means that Milo will be setting up shop, or trying to, somewhere in south Florida to grift on the grift/promote himself while, supposedly, promoting her. Cernovich has already started fighting with people on Twitter about how serious Loomer’s candidacy is and that she’s going to win. These people are so high on their own supply it is just nuts.

Florida accountability moment. Am currently at Tampa Bay Comic Con. So far there is an Uptick in Stranger Things cosplay and not enough Star Trek. Pics on my blog later tonight.

Might as well try to cash in while a large part of their customer base is still breathing; the income projections as their customers check out at an increasing rate must suck.

Similarly, when Trump loses in 2020, the Republican primary in 2024 should be a lot of fun.

Another Trump “I’m Lying” tell to watch for:
‘For 45 years people have been trying’: An oft-repeated time frame in Trump’s false claims – How Trump (falsely) brags about 45-year achievements – President Trump often insists his accomplishments happened after 45-year political stalemates, even when they didn’t. (JM Rieger, August 3)

Toward the end of the 2016 campaign, Trump said the national murder rate was “the highest it’s been in 45 years.” In fact, the rates of homicide and violent crime were near 45-year lows.

    Etc.

    This Laura Loomer?

She’ll perhaps get a better reception than she got here, but I presume the actual goal is attention and camera time. She seems like an Attention Hooor and maybe, just maybe the local newsies won’t play along and simply ignore her.

Maybe she’s trying to get Fuckhead to drop Pence from the ticket, take her instead.

If Trump dumps Pence, it’ll be for Daddy’s Little Ghoul.

I wonder how hard the right (with the power of the DJT administration backing them) will push social media to relax rules about hateful/ inflammatory/incitement speech. Because rules would be relaxed for everyone
Related, a recap, but not bad:
FBI memo: Pro-Trump conspiracy theories like QAnon, Pizzagate pose domestic terror threat – FBI intelligence bulletin cites “conspiracy theory-driven domestic extremists” as likely source of future violence (Igor Derysh, August 3, 2019)
Shortly after QAnon appeared, one of the theories was that it was an influence operation (in one thread, Israeli) intended among other things to create a stochastic force of shock troops, both in meat-world (guns) and on-line.

Are you kidding? I mean maybe no exact replicas but there a lot of scammers/grifters, racists, assholes out there. Vlad got one elected as president. We get to see all the congress members who qualify perfectly within that description. That’s an unreasonable sized sample just of the “professional” ones.

It’s possible that it will wither up and die. But not likely. The republican party can’t have a heart attack because they all sold their hearts for spare change. And there are too many zombies with republican name tags to just wither. But most of all there is too much money to be made and too many ways to make it for all the grifters in the republican party to go away. If it was only a generational thing it would be very likely, but it’s not just olds with no better sense than a block of cheese, there are members just over voting age in the republican party. Racism is big business in the grifting world and many, many willing grifting victims.

@Bill Arnold: The rules are not necessarily relaxed for everyone. Trump gets away with saying more than most. If something is considered notable or historic, there are exceptions. The President is a notable person. The picture of the naked girl who was hit by napalm is historic and not considered child porn. The rules are complicated.

Another media grifter type who displays crazed instability is Cenk Uyger, who best displayed his craze by naming his son “Prometheus Maximus Uygur” — which in my book is child abuse, worse than Moon Unit Zappa by a mile.

Historically (aka mythologicaly), Prometheus was a Greek Titan who wound up chained to a mountain peak while eagles eat his liver every day. What a gift to your son!

    @MagdaInBlack:

I think I now have the reply thingy figured out. Loomer, in a “Bitter Bierce” nutshell:

PATRIOT, n. One to whom the interests of a part seem superior to those of the whole. The dupe of statesmen and the tool of conquerors.

PATRIOTISM, n. Combustible rubbish read to the torch of any one ambitious to illuminate his name.

In Dr. Johnson’s famous dictionary patriotism is defined as the last resort of a scoundrel. With all due respect to an enlightened but inferior lexicographer I beg to submit that it is the first.

“deliberatively and almost shamelessly provocative.” That’s Bierce for you.

See the term’s etymology. It was not always a compliment.
