Hey all. I’m out of town for a while, but had this set aside to share with you. I did not know penguins came in sky blue.

I love how the station made this into a breaking news story with almost a sense of breathlessness.

@SenyorDave: Yeah, I was watching a few videos and it looked like several newscasts were having some great fun with it.

And who finished 19th out of 20? The one and only FLOTUS Birther McBirtherface (thank you, Betty Cracker, this name is now ingrained into my brain forever). I can only hope that finding this out makes for a miserable day for the orange turd.

While Justice Dems and @AOC get savaged for backing primary challengers, a PAC linked to centrist Democrats is backing a GOP challenger to a vulnerable Democrat, @KatieHill4CA https://t.co/IA8iP8W20c— Ryan Grim (@ryangrim) 19 July 2019

Just rewatched “Years and Years” again. It is a truly frightening series. I think the most frightening scene is Emma Thompson’s character Vivian Rook explaining to a bunch of companies who are bidding to run the concentration camps (and as for “running” we mean maintaining the bricks and mortar not doing anything for the people inside) how “concentration camp” is just a term “you could have a camp full of oranges and it would be a concentration of oranges”. She also explains the historical background of the Boer War where the Brits placed the homeless people displaced by the war into camps where “nature took its course, disease and pestilence took care of the problem”. The matter of fact way that she described her policy is absolutely chilling. If you get a chance to watch the whole series, do. It really should be required watching as to how things can get when good people do nothing.

Before I looked at the details, I was going to write, “Does the Queen of England know about this?”

But I see that Her Majesty is in the top 10.

Also Interesting to see that Hillary Clinton also ranks higher than Melania.

@chris: Katie will win. The fear of a democratic rep has been dispelled (Duncan Hunter doing his part to help that), and holy fuck do Californians hate Trump. They’re raising money well, Katie Porter (similar district) hasn’t suffered for coming out for impeachment.

But fuck the centrist Dems all the same.

  27. 27

@Martin: Thank you, that’s reassuring. Hard to believe that any Dem these days would get within spitting distance of a Repub without… well, spitting.

I saw a clip on those penguins yesterday. Cute. Of course yesterday they didn’t say the Sushi shop owner had been feeding them fresh sushi like they did today.

I am shocked, shocked I tell you to see these wild animals that I have been feeding continue to show up where I have been feeding them!

Y’all, having sled dogs has been so good for my body image. And not because mushing is a joy-filled, physical outdoor activity, although that’s true. It’s actually something much simpler than that.

I love wandering at night along Wellington waterfront, in some places you can hear something that sounds like a cross between a really angry donkey and a mournful demon which lets you know that there are penguins near by :)

Having said that, the announcer is wrong about pigeons and politicians being the only wildlife around, Wellington now has a great deal of native wildlife co-existing (thanks to a fully fenced wildlife sanctuary about 30 minutes from the city centure). It’s been absolutely amazing over to years to go from just the occasional tui to a full on dawn chorus with destructive parrots:
