    @lamh36: Oh no, not another candidate. Chris Murphy was right when he said he’s not running because someone has to stay in the Senate who knows how things work. I guess everyone saw today that Sanders filed paperwork to run as a Democrat for President in 2020 and as an Independent for Senate in 2024. This alone should disqualify him from the primary. He really, really, really hates the Party whose nomination he seeks.

    @Omnes Omnibus: Steve is originally from N Illinois?! That’s hilarious.

    I was born in NC and now I live in NE Ohio. Can’t decide if that is a relief or just sad.

    @Mai Naem mobile:

    How did people think better of him?

    You are mistaking his supporters for people with actual intelligence. They are happy because the left isn’t. It isn’t any more complex than that.

    ETA: Speaking of shooting…I got a gun scope today(along with an adapter to mount it on my hot shoe). It should make pointing the camera at the right star easier.

    Plus it makes those traffic stops much more interesting.

    @Omnes Omnibus: studied international law at the EEC headquarters. Also may have drank a lot and caroused with females. Then cought the Pink Floyd concert at the Berlin Wall. Was a good summer!

    The cool place to be on Friday evening in Brussels? On the train to Paris.

    I don’t disagree….but there’s just the teeny tiny facts that he does well against Dump in meaningless polls and has the capacity to raise a shit ton of money that make it less than crystal clear that he’ll have the sense to stay out.

    Hell, I even know otherwise sane, intelligent people who think he’s the safest bet to beat Dump.

    Dr Mrs Holder bugged him for years to quit as USAG for the sake of his health. There’s no way she’d have let him run for POTUS.

    Oooooh. NICE.

    I do get a warm fuzzy in my tummy when a wife not letting her husband do something is presented as an inevitable, incontrovertible fact of life.

    @Mai Naem mobile: According to Maddow, after Inslee lost his first re-election bid he took a few years off, moved to another part of WA, then won election to a house seat that had only been won once by a D in the previous 40 years.

    As for Hickenlooper, his position on fracking moves him waaay down the list for me.

    @RepubAnon: As far as rematches, off the top of my head, Grover Cleveland defeated Benjamin Harrison in 1892 after losing the electoral college but winning the popular vote in 1888, Andrew Jackson had the same thing happen in 1828 and 1824, respectively, and the only other rematch I can think of under the current system is Ike beating Adlai Stevenson twice in a row. I think Jefferson and Adams ran against each other twice in a row, but those were the days when the runner-up became VP.
