Keith Olbermann in his heyday on MSNBC would ruthlessly mock and belittle Hannity. At first it was amusing, but then it got kind of sad, like watching the smart kids in the class picking on the big dumb jock because he was such an easy target. How the fuck Hannity has survived this long in the same shtick is a testimony to a good grift – you sell every last shred of your soul and your dignity, and apparently still get paid on a regular basis.

@lamh36: also who cares…let them all run…some of them won’t be able to hire decent staff, raise money, make sense on the stump, etc etc.
The field will winnow down and as long as the eventual candidate has released her/his tax returns, is a member in good standing of the party, and upholds its policy positions, we’ll be good.
Folks my dad likes to rib me about all these Dems jumping into the race…truly, who cares? As long as we keep it under 50 candidates, some of them will have 2% vs 1% support (maybe even 3-4%!) and the chaff will indeed separate from the wheat.
90% of them are running for VP/next time/a cabinet post/whatever. It is, unfortunately, just how it goes.
Make sure they all abide by some very important standards, and we’ll still end up in a good place. =)

In looking for that picture I did a spit-take when I saw that Chris Christie weighed about 550 pounds when he took office as New Jersey’s governor in 2009. I am very bad at judging weight—I think “over 300” and sort of blur out—but that astounded me.
I have no idea what Christie weighs now.
112.

@BruceFromOhio: Probably not a bad idea. I mean, in terms of jumping in for a particular candidate or the other. For insisting on standards (like releasing tax returns and being a member of the party), good idea to bang that drum now, and loudly.

Hickenlooper won reelection in Colorado after passing stronger gun laws, even though some important Dems lost reelection in the Colorado legislature.
@lamh36: Oh no, not another candidate. Chris Murphy was right when he said he’s not running because someone has to stay in the Senate who knows how things work. I guess everyone saw today that Sanders filed paperwork to run as a Democrat for President in 2020 and as an Independent for Senate in 2024. This alone should disqualify him from the primary. @RepubAnon: As far as rematches, off the top of my head, Grover Cleveland defeated Benjamin Harrison in 1892 after losing the electoral college but winning the popular vote in 1888, Andrew Jackson had the same thing happen in 1828 and 1824, respectively, and the only other rematch I can think of under the current system is Ike beating Adlai Stevenson twice in a row. Even the liberal Washington Post:
“The request for documents from President Trump’s sons and others — part of an investigation into allegations of obstruction of justice, corruption and abuse of power — could bolster critics’ claims that the Democrats are seeking only to undermine the president.”
Marcopolo
@Mai Naem mobile: Well, one of the things I just learned is Inslee’s first time serving in the US House was cut short because, among other things, he voted for stronger gun laws & then lost his race to get re-elected.
Anyway, at this point in time I am not supporting anyone but I am donating to candidates who might have a lower profile but whose voice I want to hear in the first debate. Think the requirement is 1% in the polls or 65,000 donors across 20 states.
So far for me that includes Castro & Buttgieg. I’ll kick $25 to Inslee to add him to the list. But not Hickenlooper :).

I love the very specific qualification in the headline that this is the first time she’s said it “on camera.” Because otherwise it’s about the 100th time she’s said it.

Hey with Nadler’s committee calling some 81 people to testify/produce documents/etc, it looks like we might really have “hundreds of indictments dropped on dozens of people”TM after all…who knew that elections mattered?

Keith Olbermann in his heyday on MSNBC would ruthlessly mock and belittle Hannity. At first it was amusing, but then it got kind of sad, like watching the smart kids in the class picking on the big dumb jock because he was such an easy target. How the fuck Hannity has survived this long in the same shtick is a testimony to a good grift – you sell every last shred of your soul and your dignity, and apparently still get paid on a regular basis.
Jeffro
@lamh36: also who cares…let them all run…some of them won’t be able to hire decent staff, raise money, make sense on the stump, etc etc.
The field will winnow down and as long as the eventual candidate has released her/his tax returns, is a member in good standing of the party, and upholds its policy positions, we’ll be good.
Omnes Omnibus
@Jeffro: This.

Jeffro
@BruceFromOhio: Probably not a bad idea. I mean, in terms of jumping in for a particular candidate or the other. For insisting on standards (like releasing tax returns and being a member of the party), good idea to bang that drum now, and loudly.

Mai Naem mobile
@Marcopolo: I may be wrong but I think Inslee used to represent a purple district which either became bluer by redistricting or the area just became bluer.

He really, really, really hates the Party whose nomination he seeks.

As for Hickenlooper, his position on fracking moves him waaay down the list for me.

I think Jefferson and Adams ran against each other twice in a row, but those were the days when the runner-up became VP.
