Must..get..to..Baltimore.
Happy Valentine’s Day, everybody – hugs to all!
Today, pictures from valued commenter Gravie.
Sidewalk mural outside the American Visionary Art Museum, painted in 2013 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. Faces include Frederick Douglass, Edgar Allan Poe (natch ), John Waters, Cal Ripken, Tecumseh, Johnny Appleseed, and a bunch of others, including one who looks like Mama Cass and another who looks like a Martian, maybe.

Besides throwing a few apple seeds, what relationship does Johnny Appleseed have to Baltimore.

That wall mosaic looks cool too!

It’s a very fun museum, I’ve been there twice.

I think the “Martian” referred to, with the eyebrows, is in fact Divine.
And Cass Elliot would make sense, as she was a native Baltimorean.

@JPL: I wondered that, too. His Wikipedia entry doesn’t mention Maryland. However, a different John Chapman was a Maryland politician during roughly the same time as JA lived.
Anyway, I’d love to see that museum and mural!

@Cheap Jim, adoptive Baltimorean: Agreed, definitely Divine (Glenn – according to my bookkeeper from years ago.. native Balmer’n.)
Thankfully not Edie the Egg Lady, or maybe she should be. Had lunch with her at a diner near her Fell’s Point shop, Edie’s Handbag. Memorable. Her sandwich died slowly, chopped into a hundred pieces, falling between Edie’s few teeth. Lotta hutzpah in that one.
Can’t contribute much more about Bal’mer. It was freezing and I was there to vusit a guy I had a crush on.
