Ah, Paris…
Today, pictures from valued commenter Luthe.
I am on day one of my Parisian adventure and I’m already taking pictures and mangling French! (I apologize to the French people for my terrible accent) Today’s photo haul is small, but I blame the ferocious jet lag.

Paris, France
This picture was pure serendipity. The bus from Orly stopped at just the right moment for me to snap it.

This is the view from the teeny tiny balcony of my hotel room.

And this is the view from the balcony at night. Being up in the garrett has its perqs.

Basilique de Saint-Denis, Paris, France
Saint-Denis is the traditional burial site of French kings. There are a *lot* of dead royals in Basilica and crypt. This is the nave.

Basilique de Saint-Denis, Paris, France
This is the section of the crypt where the end of the Capet line is buried. Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI are here.

Saint-Chapelle, Paris, France
Saint-Chapelle is one of my favorite places in the world, but when I’ve visited it before, it was in the process of being restored and some of the glass was covered. I also had an inferior camera which couldn’t properly capture the sheer beauty of the stained glass.
This time, however, the restoration was complete and I have a new camera which is much better at photographing stained glass, as you can see. So much pretty.

Cité de L’architecture et du Patrimoine
The museum celebrating French architecture and urban planning sits on a little hill overlooking the Eiffel Tower. Inside the museum, there are replicas of various bits of medieval architecture. Here, one of the arches frames the Eiffel Tower while the Tour Montparnasse glows in the background.

For your reaction image needs: an angel wondering WTF it just saw.

Are you sure that’s an angel? Although your balcony is small, you are able to capture some amazing pictures.

I love Paris, so beautiful! Thank you.

AA++!

I don’t think I’ve ever posted a picture as a reaction anywhere, but I hope someone uses that angel. It’s too perfect.
Baud
You have a good eye.

@Baud:
True, dat!
Thanks for the photos, Luthe.

And your other eye is good too.

Awesome pics. Our oldest is attending school at Dauphine on Ave Foch. He absolutely loves the city.

I love your nighttime view from your balcony and yes you have a good eye.
The glass is beautiful, and the angel is cute. I have been reading your posts while you were there and know you have more to come and I am looking forward to them.

Ahh, Paris

Ah…Paris…
sigh….
if there is a more beautiful city in the world, I’m not convinced :)
Thanks for the pics.

The face in that last photo perfectly captures how we all feel in the age of trump.

Ahh, Paris — so, so envious! And good on you for speaking French, however poorly, while in France! I have no idea how to post a reaction photo, but if I did, I’d use that angel A LOT.

Beautiful pictures of a beautiful city. Sainte Chapelle is also one of my favorite places in the world. They used to — maybe still do — have concerts there in the summer. Sitting bathed in that light while listening to music is really heaven on earth.

wonderful stained glass, all of the photos are just wonderful.
Paris!! Was there once briefly. Saw Notre-Dame, amazed at the success of The Church at extracting that much wealth in an era of such grinding poverty. Threats of Hell obviously worked so well!

Oooooh, lovely pix! And your first day in Paris was our last (flew home on the 5th) – how funny, we probably pretty nearly crossed paths. We’ve seen the Ste Chapelle many times, but the restoration was the highlight of the trip.
Maintenant je veux retourner.
ETA: totally “borrowing” the angel for reaction shots. Great photo.
