I think she meant to say she was asking questions of McCain’s staffers and then to link to an older article pointing out something about McCain’s role in the Steele dossier. But she wrote the tweet badly, so the title of the article she was linking to (which was published in 2017) appeared right after the line about the role of his staff. So her failure was in presenting what she wanted to say, not in being dumb enough to think McCain was still available to answer questions.

“The Russians were supposedly trying to work together with the Americans on fighting ISIS, but instead the Russians started asking all these other questions. On top of the Ziff stuff, they were reportedly asking for dirt on Putin enemies, and on the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the National Council of Jewish Women. And get this, instead of just telling the Russians to fuck off, apparently Treasury people were Hotmailing and Gmailing with the Russians outside of official channels. Is that bad? Well yes, because obvious reasons, and also because reportedly the Russians liked to send attachments with their Hotmails, full of malware and viruses that can be used to spy or otherwise wreak havoc.
No big deal.
Were the Treasury folks warned that they shouldn’t be doing this? Yes, by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), which is part of Treasury, and keeps track of funny-lookin’ financial transactions all over the world. Was FinCEN completely freaked out? Oh my God, yes. Did the Treasury folks in question keep blabbermouthing with the Russians on back channels even once Trump was president? Yes. Has anybody resigned over this as a whistleblower? Yes, bunches of people. Was there ever a real investigation? Ummmmmmm.”
One more question: Was the Russian agency these idiots were communicating with a legit, normal government agency, or was it really just a bunch of spies? Ummmmmmm.”

Top officials of the Syrian Democratic Forces, the Kurdish-led and American-supported militia fighting the Islamic State in eastern Syria, met on Wednesday to discuss the option of releasing about 1,100 Islamic State fighters and 2,080 relatives of the group’s members, according to Rami Abdul Rahman, the head of the Syrian Observatory on Human Rights.

@A Ghost To Most: No shit he’s a target. Pence is the obvious Russian-puppet and was always meant to become President, and then to do all the shit Trump is doing now (or has done) but looking Presidential and not being a flaming nutbar like Trump. Pence can obey his master the way Trump can’t, and Pence can bullshit you with a straight face and believe his own con.
He’s Putin’s guy, whose job it is to wait and look Steely-Eyed And Determined when he looks at his master. Because that’s necessary, and that’s a subtlety that Trump could never do.
He’s a little more challenging of a target because he’s got enough discipline not to flail, but Mueller’s got to have an answer for Pence before he moves on Trump. The worst outcome would be to take out Trump and have Pence be in there as a more effective puppet of Putin while also supposedly being the rescuer and patriot.
