Happy to explain. I’m a journalism prof interested in, among other things, misinformation. On July 11, I was running a program to monitor a fake news site to see if I could figure out what was responsible for spreading its falsehoods. In this particular case, you were. 1/

The dots represent accounts spreading the lie. The curves connecting the dots are conduits of this misinformation, when it’s traceable back to a source thanks to a RT. And as you can tell, you’re the main conduit here. 3/

On the one hand, I am once again very, very glad that Twitter didn’t exist when I was 20 years old. On the other hand, even then, I had a much better grasp of my own limitations.
Even Jonah ‘Doughy Pantload’ Goldberg got to kick Wohl around — in the National Review, no less!
… It’s like Wohl is in his own Choose Your Own Adventure book, and every direction he goes leads him to a room where he has to punch himself in the crotch, while women he never dated point and laugh. No wonder this guy was Gateway Pundit’s ace reporter…
Stop asking me if @JacobAWohl did the RICO. He didn’t. RICO requires an “enterprise,” which denotes some sort of credible gesture at organization. And “being a dimwitted fuckmuppet dudebrah” is not an enumerated predicate act.

@TenguPhule: That’s because CBP isn’t the military. They are Federal law enforcement. And while I’d argue, I think quite rightly, that this is very inappropriate, especially given that the caravan is a couple of months away, it has nothing to do with the military.

Ugh. Stupid election-related stress and lack of sleep means that I have pleurisy again. This sucks.
Short version: pleurisy is when the lining between your lungs and your ribcage gets inflamed and your lung starts scraping against the inside of your ribs. It’s usually caused by a viral infection. It’s annoying and somewhat painful but usually not dangerous in and of itself. But it sucks. I only get it when I’m both stressed out and physically run down, which is why I blame fucking Trump and the asaholes who enable him.

I had missed a lot of the kind feedback on my former office manager’s response to my coming back as a fill in. Thanks to all of you. I simply told her I had offered Monday’s and Wednesdays only as my availability so Friday wouldn’t work. She apologized and is changing it, she said Wednesday was probably a better day for me to fill in anyway.
And though she’s a terrible manager, I don’t think she did that consciously to be malicious; she’s soon to have her 74(!) birthday and some physical and cognitive decline is starting to manifest. A new young woman is being trained to become a new manager I heard.
And the doctor is a casual long term friend (a very sweet, completely non-confrontational friend), so I’m going to help but only as few days as necessary.

Don’t know that I ever had that moment but I’ve seen some absolutely stupid things that showed zero forethought, and really none afterwards either. And that doesn’t mean that I’ve never done anything that others would consider less than smart. My first week on the ship I served 2 yrs on I had to climb out the yardarm. This is a beam that runs perpendicular to the ship that is the widest part of the ship and is about 60 ft off the deck. Had no safety harness, just a rope that I tied around my waist. It was also an aluminum mast and the yardarm was aluminum welded to that. That might not mean anything but aluminum in salt air=corrosion. Corrosion means a loss of strength. Going out over water side wasn’t too bad, the water is only about 6-7 below the deck at that point, at least you have a chance to fall into the water. On the other side the pier is only about 55 ft away so at least you have time to scream on the way down. Fun times.

“White supremacy will not diminish over time or come to a natural halt. It will not give ground quietly or respect institutions. Those institutions are conveniently cast as foundational when they promote the interests of white supremacy and meaningless when they do not. Negotiation is futile because white supremacy does not negotiate in good faith. The violence is part of the attraction, and it views entire classes of people as unworthy of mourning. It will not bend to hear other voices, because the entire point of the philosophy is that only one group of people has voices worth hearing.

This is what the GOP has offered the country as we approach one of the most consequential midterm elections in American history. Republicans do not pretend to have a list of meaningful policies that they will pass to the benefit of every citizen. They do not campaign on their supposed accomplishments during the past two years. They do not tender olive branches or seek compromise with citizens who disagree with their vision. Instead, the GOP promises an escalation of white supremacy and support for Trump’s every depravity, no matter how unlawful.

Just got back from setting up the precinct I will be a judge in tomorrow. Located in the NW Chicago suburbs in the Land Beyond O’Hare. Start at 5 AM tomorrow and won’t end until 9 PM or after so going to be a long day. Also, won’t really have a chance to check in. When I worked in 2016 I was happily moving along then I checked here as we closed the shop down. Needless to say, my good mood was totally destroyed rather quickly.
I decided I won’t check anything until I get home this year. If we get any slow periods I might check in during the day, but probably won’t.
A reminder again to those voting tomorrow. Say “Thank you” to the poll workers. Most are putting in a 16 hour day or more for minimal pay when figured on an hourly basis.
Also regarding Trump’s call for law enforcement to be on guard for fraud. At least in Cook County, law enforcement people are only allowed in the actual voting area of there is a major disturbance that requires their presence. Otherwise they cannot come into the building where the voting takes place.

I feel good about it though. Politicos in Ohio said Cordray would tick up as it got closer and that happened, so I decided that’s a “sign”. It was really a fairly boring race. The two candidates had long, exhausted sounding exchanges about “home rule” which is fairly obscure and really complicated. There was little or no overt racism and a notable lack of shrieking about “the caravan”. It was just the tall guy and the short guy, bickering over preexisting conditions.
Cordray will be a really good governor and if he wins and is successful as a governor he’ll run for President. He would be good at that job, too.
