I’m surprised he spoke in Foellinger Auditorium because it’s so small. I saw Jane Fonda and Little Feat there as well as my “Film as Literature” class way back in the day.

Amen, Barack.

It was a good day.

Yeah, I thought rather than “lecturing” Obama was going way too far in the direction of being compassionate and understanding, even a little both-sidery. That’s just his nature and why we sometimes needed an Anger Translator.
He did gently, reluctantly get to admitting the current crop of Republicans are craven traitorous assholes.

Milky Way from an early July shoot, this is composed of 8 images that were combined and the median was taken to produce the finished image(this reduces noise, enhances detail and removes extraneous objects like airplanes). Working on getting my godson, who just turned 18, to register to vote. He lives abroad, but his US home base is in VA-10. We’ve texted — and I’ve suggested he read about health care (he has hypothyroidism, so a pre-existing condition), the US involvement in Syria and the Middle East (he’ll have to register with the US Armed Forces, so …), college debt, and the US budget with Republican plans to cut Federal Pensions/Social Security (his dad is retired from the State Department). He’s requested a phone talk rather than text, so I’m hopeful.

Maybe you can call the voting jurisdiction , ask for the people who are over Military and Overseas voters, and ask how they accept FPCA. Do they accept via email or fax? Do they need the signed original? So, that you will have all that information to tell him. You can even ask if they will email him an FPCA application. Going through fvap.org is ehh ? to me.

Here’s a concert Raven didn’t see., A friend of mine was in a band in Winnipeg in the 60’s and some how were hired to open for the Jonny Cash show (they were as he said, “a half assed rock band” although because their lead guitar player had a broken hand they had hired 14 year old Randy Bachman to fill in). This happened right around the time Johnny and June started their love affair, Mother Maybelle was really pissed, June’s sister were pissed, the Statller Brothers were pissed and the Tennessee Three weren’t happy either. My buddy said the tension and anger was really heavy. Cash put on a hell of a show and when it was over the entire entourage went right back to yelling a each other. BTW, he said the 9th grader Bachman kicked ass even though it was a school night.

President Obama was giving a lecture – just not to “us.” He was giving it to a bunch of college students. It was mostly a lecture by a former law professor to students about American political history and civic responsibility. That Ben Shapiro should take it as a message aimed at him is typical, and just another display of clueless privilege.
Miss Bianca
@germy: Now there’s some Kozmik Karmic Justice there.
Miss Bianca
@Jager: Well, that’s a story, ain’t it? Whew! Of course, sometimes that tension in the air does lead to a dynamite show. I’m told that Richard and Linda Thompson’s “Shoot Out the Lights” tour was amazing, both for on-stage and off-stage pyrotechnics – they were splitting up at the time.

@Cheryl Rofer: Yup. His newly hired chief accounting officer left after a month & there was Human Resources chair apparently resigned as well after only 15 months. (IIRC there’s more turnover than that) That’s sign enough of a badly run company.

It’s hearsay, but an NDA-defying article by an ex-Tesla engineer said the coding is a godawful mess because management is a godawful mess. Every whim must be obeyed, and Celestia help you if you try to explain why from a technical perspective it’s a bad idea. That on top of all the standard bad management nightmares, like crony promotion systems and firing the lowest performers on arbitrary metrics, or worse, who makes too much money.

Nice to see that Ben Shapiro is still a complete putz. I read righty blogs some in the early days just to see what they said. Shapiro was on Red State a bunch. Thankfully they booted me. I only go back sparingly now and even then, I see it’s still a cesspool. Not quite a Breitbart cesspool, just a less filthy version of the same cult.

@Aleta: Thanks! My friend (and our OzarkHillbilly’s friend), Red has done a beautiful job on the kitchen for the walk out basement apartment.. Mosaic marble and granite countertops blended with the exposed rock walls. Got a fantastic deal on closeout slate at Lowe’s (84 cents a square.. 12 x 12). We left the copper pipes exposed in the bathroom and the slate has copper look highlights throughout. So the bathroom is evolving into the cheap slate to be mixed with some white marble for the walls, shower, and the counter….. and the eventual penny floor. Industrial/steampunk lighting finishes the “look.”

I started carrying firearms type earplugs to rock shows when I saw Lynyrd Skynard was opening for ZZ Top. I needed them for Skynard, But ZZ Top had a great sound system. I found that the firearms earplugs distorted the sound, and so searched for music-purposed earplugs, which I take to most music shows just in case.
They cut all frequencies and so you can hear the sound pretty well. An ear-saver at the Gov’t Mule show we saw not long ago. Great show, also. Was impressed. Will take some to NYC for the music we have lined up there. Worth the high-end prices.

@rikyrah: Are you talking about the 3rd of the last three I put up? I took as much light pollution, including the horizon that I could out of that one(just because I could). I’m trying to get the Milky Way the same color as it would be from space, so it’s natural color, unaffected by light pollution. I’ll probably redo it a bit to retain more light pollution at the horizon and keep the yellow color at the horizon. I’ve seen a bit too many pics that the galactic center, and the rest of the galaxy has a yellow tint and it distracts from it’s colors.
