Oh, you’ll be fine. Lots of empty nesters find it liberating once they adjust to the quiet.

Just got home a little while ago from seeing Deadpool 2. It was an amazing movie. Well done in so many ways. Josh Brolin burned up the screen, such a great performance. Bravo!

@TaMara (HFG):
I remember this episode. Griffith sure lost the accent and looked really tired as the seasons wore on.

I’d want them to leave… at least, the middle one in the bottom row is giving you a look that says “do you feel like food? Because you sure LOOK like food!”
@BruceFromOhio: To whom were you referring? It makes for complications. Yeah, I have done it too.

I love them and do not want them to leave.
Tray-style feeder atop a four-foot free-standing post in the back yard, maybe six to ten feet from a back window,
with a squirrel-preventer conical metal skirt on the post;
and/or a tube feeder with slot-style finch seed ports, hung somewhere convenient.
“Audubon mix” high-quality wild bird seed mix, a cup per day, in the tray feeder,
or finch mix in the tube feeder.
You’ll have them and their collateral descendents singing from your trees and bushes as long as you keep feeding them.
And house finches are wonderful singers, even though they look like scruffy big-nosed sparrows who’ve been to a Holi festival.
@TaMara (HFG): Dawww…my critters hereabouts now are a very mutually supportive pair of Say’s Phoebes, I think, which I believe are brooding right now.
Mama was quite fat until a few days ago, and then her mate was gathering thready weeds in the garden, so I assume that they have at least some eggs in a nest nearby. I feed them hulled sunflower seeds and offer water, upon all of which they seem to rely. The dad bird is crazy supportive and so protective. Love these birds in my yard!

If you can manage to watch them fledge, I encourage it – it’s kind of magical.

I spend a lot of time watching birds (though in a residential area, I live in a pine forest), and house finches are resident bird feeder guests. They are not shy about claiming their time at the feeders. John can invite them to stay quite easily. Feed them. Multiple feeders (I host 3) will improve your life. The ability to just be able to co-exist with and closely observe them is alluring (who knew that chickadees are so cool?)
You get the benefit of being able to see other things as well. While bird watching (and being outside for smoke related reasons), I watched a lizard take a dump. Satisfying for both of us. I was also recently fortunate to see a cara cara at close range (on a deck railing from inside a house on Bolivar Peninsula, TX). Google the bird to find out what evidently inspired Kim Jong-un’s coif.
@NotMax:For some reason, I’m always reminded of W. C. Fields first. Don’t know why.

Honestly, Trump, you thoughtless idiot. American and other foreign journalists still in North Korea:
Something interesting is happening at our hotel in Wonsan. We’ve been told to stay inside and not look out the windows. Most of us are assembled in the press center. Our minders don’t seem to know what’s going on. It may be no big deal, but you never know in North Korea. pic.twitter.com/ufMyYoo9SP— Will Ripley (@willripleyCNN) May 25, 2018
A fellow journalist who was outside was told to come inside, and says he noticed signs of increased security around our hotel. This is getting more interesting. https://t.co/IADtIeUwAW— Will Ripley (@willripleyCNN) May 25, 2018
