On the Road is a weekday feature spotlighting reader photo submissions.
From the exotic to the familiar, whether you’re traveling or in your own backyard, we would love to see the world through your eyes.
Good Morning All,
This weekday feature is for Juicers who are are on the road, traveling, or just want to share a little bit of their world via stories and pictures. So many of us rise each morning, eager for something beautiful, inspiring, amazing, subtle, of note, and our community delivers – a view into their world, whether they’re far away or close to home – pictures with a story, with context, with meaning, sometimes just beauty. By concentrating travel updates and tips here, it’s easier for all of us to keep up or find them later.
So please, speak up and share some of your adventures and travel news here, and submit your pictures using our speedy, secure form. You can submit up to 7 pictures at a time, with an overall description and one for each picture.
You can, of course, send an email with pictures if the form gives you trouble, or if you are trying to submit something special, like a zipped archive or a movie. If your pictures are already hosted online, then please email the links with your descriptions.
For each picture, it’s best to provide your commenter screenname, description, where it was taken, and date. It’s tough to keep everyone’s email address and screenname straight, so don’t assume that I remember it “from last time”. More and more, the first photo before the fold will be from a commenter, so making it easy to locate the screenname when I’ve found a compelling photo is crucial.
Have a wonderful day, and enjoy the pictures!
The form is wonky, but I hope to get that solved later this week. Thanks for your patience.
My apologies, no pictures today. I’ll be better-positioned tomorrow -have a great morning!
Today, pictures from valued commenter <>.
Thank you so much, <>, do send us more when you can.
Travel safely everybody, and do share some stories in the comments, even if you’re joining the conversation late. Many folks confide that they go back and read old threads, one reason these are available on the Quick Links menu.
One again, to submit pictures: Use the Form or Send an Email

Some years back I was at a conference in Boston and my bride flew up for a post-event trip. I went on a fishing trip off Kennybunk, we did a boat tour where we saw the house and island where the Wicked Witch of the West lived and then drove across Maine and New Hampshire on the Kangamangus Highway (I was trying to retrace my steps from a hitchhiking trip from Illinois to the East Coast, summer of 70). Anyway we visited at least one lighthouse but it is a trip where I lost all the photos so thanks for this.

It was Cape Island off Boothbay.

@p.a.: Very nice pictures — I can almost smell the saltwater.

Alain, Kindle users default to the mobile site, and there’s no box to check to retain our info for commenting. Can we has fixez pleaze? ?

@raven: @arrieve:
Lighthouses are a natural, ya do feel kind of lazy, like, ‘oh hell another lighthouse shot’, but you’re there, the wind, the sun, and you wonder why so many were neglected and allowed to run down even if they weren’t needed for boating any more. They usually have parks, kiddie areas, and some related local businesses appropriately-distanced away.

@p.a.:
Thanks! Love the Atlantic Coastline.

@satby:WordPress made some major changes due to the new privacy laws in the EU and so, for now, it is what it is. I updated the mobile theme last night in hopes it would reappear, but no joy. I hope that this gets adjusted soon, but for now I’m stuck waiting.
I know no one (including John and myself!) wants to require users to login to comment, but that may be where this road leads.That would enable your commenting credentials to be saved, but I’m grasping at straws, so to be clear, there are NO plans to do that right now.

@Alain the site fixer: I just submitted a ticket for the mobile site developers. I hope to have an answer within 8 hours, and hopefully, an updated theme file later today.
For the middle part of today, I’ll be out of the office, so I won’t be able to do anything until late afternoon, assuming something gets fixed today.
Sorry for the inconvenience folks!

Form is working now. Thanks Alain. (On macbook, Safari, desktop version)

@Alain the site fixer:
My page refreshes seem unable to conclude. It can’t be because of the autoplay video ad because I’ve had that blocked. (It’s bad for people on a monthly bandwidth cap.) Please to fix?
Steeplejack
@Amir Khalid:
Are you sure you have all autoplay videos blocked? In addition to the usual Taboola one, there is a new one (Connatix) that appears further down the right side, under “Support Our Sponsors.” Unless you have specifically blocked it, most ad blockers have not picked it up yet.
J R in WV detailed what to add manually to your ad blocker’s script.

@p.a.: Got to get up to Maine one of these days.
That is a huge house for the lighthousekeeper in the first photo.

@Steeplejack:
I blocked it, all right. It ain’t playing.

@Alain the site fixer: I have a solution, but it will not be until tomorrow morning.
