Singer Neil Diamond has announced he will retire from touring, after a recent diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.
Diamond, who turns 77 on Wednesday, cancelled his March tour dates for Australia and New Zealand on medical advice.

Got to love a coyote who believes in public transit.
This is what I was yammering about earlier today, an excerpt from WaPo:
“In their effort to continue dismantling Obamacare, the Republican continuing resolution does not include funding for community clinics and private hospitals that care for large numbers of low-income patients,” Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.) told me. The impact of this budgetary slight was made plain by one of her constituents in an email she shared with me.
Wanted to touch base about CR that doesn’t include health Center funding. St. John’s will lose 10% of our budget ($8.4 million a year). We’ll have to close 6 of our 15 clinics in your district.
It’s also self defeating to fund CHIP but not health centers since most kids with CHIP receive their care at community health centers. So they may have CHIP but they won’t be able to access services because their Health Center is closed.

@opiejeanne: The bigger problem is that a lot of Congressional Republicans are just fine if everything that wasn’t explicitly for the betterment of the Masters of the Universe and the MIC were to wither and die; and apparently their voters are just fine with it too.
There are a lot of perverse incentives for Republicans letting everything tank and it makes having an honest negotiation effectively impossible. I wouldn’t be surprised if Democrats staged a walk-out at some point to TRY and get someone outside of our ‘bubble’ to realize that the reason why the federal government is having problems is due to active sabotage and not because of some nebulous inability for the two sides to come to an agreement.
96.
opiejeanne
@BlueDWarrior: They think they’re clever with this “funding” CHIP without actually funding the clinics. I hope this blows up BIG for them. WaPo was quoting someone from a hospital in Los Angeles, unless I’m mistaken. The population there is large enough to cause a lot of noise.
Out for a spell; catch you jackals later. Gonna stay off the intertubes and all the derision against Democrats and their deal. Let’s see what happens in 3-4 weeks. Sick of the press corpse. They should take a bus. As if.
Incidentally: why was this coyote on the bus? Did we ever find out?
98.
Sab
@Elizabelle: Early on in the thread somebody linked to the video. He was just minding his own business eating trash at a remote train stop. A train pulled up, its door opened and he wandered in to check it out. The doors slammed, and he was trapped in it for a miles long train ride into the city. When the doors finally opened he ran off, miles from home and in the city.
Do not ever touch a wild canine. They sometimes carry a disease on their fur both deadly and so gross and nightmare fuel I will not describe it here.
@opiejeanne:
They just had to slip in a budget detail so small no one would notice it until too late, with no purpose but to fuck poor people over. Republicans are such assholes. At least it will be addressed in the Feb 8th bill.
@BlueDWarrior:
A lot of Republican voters are not only just fine with it, they demand it. It’s a friggin’ death cult, determined to kill as many people as possible until whites are the only ones left.

@Sab: He took the
A Train197 Bus.Out for a spell; catch you jackals later. Gonna stay off the intertubes and all the derision against Democrats and their deal. Let’s see what happens in 3-4 weeks. Sick of the press corpse. They should take a bus. As if.
Incidentally: why was this coyote on the bus? Did we ever find out?

@Elizabelle: Mary G at comment 17 has the link.

@Sab: Sorry. You have to follow the link through and halfway down that thread somebody links to the video.

Do not ever touch a wild canine. They sometimes carry a disease on their fur both deadly and so gross and nightmare fuel I will not describe it here.
@opiejeanne:
They just had to slip in a budget detail so small no one would notice it until too late, with no purpose but to fuck poor people over. Republicans are such assholes. At least it will be addressed in the Feb 8th bill.
@BlueDWarrior:
A lot of Republican voters are not only just fine with it, they demand it. It’s a friggin’ death cult, determined to kill as many people as possible until whites are the only ones left.
Frankensteinbeck
@Frankensteinbeck:
And I’m not talking ‘can kill you.’ 100% fatal unless caught and aggressively treated.
schrodingers_cat
@Frankensteinbeck: R policies are going to kill them too unless they are in the R donor class.
SWMBO
@Frankensteinbeck: What is the name of this dread disease?
