So if you are eligible, especially if you are eligible for subsidies on the Exchanges, go to Healthcare.gov or your state based marketplaces and look for coverage.

[…] there was good news for Obamacare enrollment. No such thing as bad publicity, […]

It is pretty amazing to live in a country where the government is doing all it can to sabotage the ability of its citizens to access affordable health insurance. The very same government, by the way, which is promising to cut Medicaid and Social Security benefits.

I am waiting to get my Invoice and insurance card for my 2018 roll over Bronze plan from Anthem WV. I talked to them on Friday to confirm what the November 8 mailing said, and discovered that it was now different but still OK with a substantial subsidy. If I don’t get their mailing by midday Friday I think I had better go to the Marketplace to be safe.

David, check out Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue from last night.

For many years, my husband and I had no health care insurance. We both worked multiple part time jobs and couldn’t afford it. Obamacare made it manageable; not cheap, but we finally got covered. We’ve had it about four years now.
My husband went online yesterday to apply again. It looks like, at first take, we’ll be able to increase our coverage and not increase the cost by very much. He’s going to finish up the application tonight and we’ll hold our breath in hopes that it’s accepted and it won’t be stripped away down the road.
I am nearly sixty damn years old. I’ve kept myself in pretty good shape, but health problems are probably waiting down the road. With the monsters running the country, who knows what my options will be?

I have been trying desperately to do this for weeks and get a 500.000888 error every single time I try to log in. Do I have any hope of actually using the website or do I need to use the phone or go in person to a local office? I have two young children and a highly physically disabled wife so neither of those options are appealing to me, but being without health insurance (I just got laid off) is even less appealing. Please advise.

@Cluttered Mind: I didn’t find signing up by phone to be that bad, I would try that before going to an office. And I wouldn’t wait until later this week either.

Hard not to. Since the enrollment period began, I’ve received multiple daily reminder via e-mail, 4 robocalls, and 3 different letters via snail mail. Despite the shortened window, no one should be able to say they “didn’t know”. Perhaps that’s why the higher numbers this year… the procrastinators are being nagged into getting the process done earlier than normal.
BTW, re-enrolled on Friday night, on Tuesday morning the new health card from BCBS arrived in the mail. Under 2 business days.

@Cluttered Mind: I’ve seen booths prominently set up inside all the local Walmarts. If there’s a Walmart near you, call and check to see if yours offers the same service. The rep who mans it will help you get enrolled.

Oh, if only I could take advantage of their incompetence….no subsidies or breaks of any kind here. I get my son’s insurance through the Exchange and his medical went up over $50 per month per an insurance company letter I received. OTOH, the Exchange website said it would only go up $25 per month so I’m not sure which one is right. Guess I find out when I go to make that first premium payment.
On the bright side, the functionality to renew on the Exchange website is a ton easier this year.
