Apart from pointing & mocking, what’s on the agenda for the evening?

I had to look…did you notice XXL is sold out? My goodness, this is a real life Duffelblog article.

Raises an interesting question- could the purchase at Walmart and subsequent wear of said shirt by a non-veteran constitute Stolen Valor?
— Kent Eiler (@KentEiler) November 15, 2017
Roger Moore
More pointing and laughing.
debbie
Made in America, no doubt.
quakerinabasement
Pretend soldiers fighting imaginary enemies.
America had a good run.
Baud
Are there any fascist hunting T-shirts to be had, or is that too uncivil?
debbie
i will spend the evening being very disappointed in Richard Cordray. As much as I wanted him to run for governor, I can’t imagine how many hundreds of thousands of consumers will now be screwed by the financial industry. Wish he’d held on.
quakerinabasement
….aaaaaand it’s gone!
TenguPhule
This is going to stop being funny once somebody gets killed.
/Sorry to be Stop having fun guys, but its true.
Duane
Good plan, Wal-Mart. Make money and encourage violence. Cant ever have enough of either one.
debbie
Looking at the photo, I’ve never seen a greater look of love than the one on Stephen Miller’s face.
Patricia Kayden
Attorney Mercedes Colwin who went on Hannity’s show to claim that women are prone to lie about sexual harassment for money has been forced out of large law firm. She also claimed that the number of women who are sexualy harassed is few and far between. This is what should happen to anyone who goes on national t.v. and lies their behind off to protect child predators like Moore.
Thoughtful David
@debbie: Yeah, I was surprised at his resignation. I wonder what they threatened to do to him?
Major Major Major Major
“It’s just… our uniforms, they’ve got skulls on them. …are we the baddies?”
Ruckus
@debbie:
China is my guess.
Not going to WM to find out. I do have to say, I liked Marin county because they wouldn’t allow WM to open a store in the county.
Patricia Kayden
At the link is a great breakdown of how the Republicans’ tax cut proposal would screw over the (precious White) working class if it’s eventually passed. I’m hoping that Republican lawmakers are being flooded with calls from their constituents denouncing this awful piece of crap.
Major Major Major Major
@Ruckus: Not just a Marin thing. I’m in SF, and unless I want to cross a bridge, the nearest Wal-Mart to me is in Mountain View.
Roger Moore
@Duane:
Remember, WalMart sells more guns than anyone in the USA.
debbie
@Patricia Kayden:
Oh, fuck her. She is young or at least youngish. Only an idiot would assume things have always been the way they are now.
I tried to Google her age. Checked LinkIn and am horrified to see she’s connected to someone who’s connected to one of my connections. Eeeeew.
kmeyer the lurker
Huh. So if you’re in the antifa response team, doesn’t that make you, y’know, a fascist?
geg6
Two more Moore accusers. Jebus, that guy got around.
Roger Moore
@kmeyer the lurker:
I think the “alt-right” has rehabilitating fascism as a long-term goal. Getting people to be out and proud as anti-anti-fascists is a big step toward getting them to be out and proud fascists.
MJS
Since “antifa” is short for “anti-fascist” are the wearers of those shirts admitting to being pro-fascist? I mean, I know they are pro-fascist, but are they now publicly declaring it?
Brachiator
I’ve been singing the praises of the funny and inventive “Thor Ragnarok” in theaters now, directed by the incredibly talented Taika Waititi.
Amazon Prime members can enjoy an earlier Taika film, “What We Do In The Shadows,” for free as part of their Prime membership.
EriktheRed
Hello, folks
I’m the ErikC on twitter who’s talking to “Alex”, who says he’d wear that shirt to trigger SJWs.
You think he really is that dense?
chris
LOL. From a Reddit AMA with Wikileaks last year.
Roger Moore
@geg6:
Quelle surprise. If there is one accuser, it might be a one-time thing. If there are two, it’s probably a pattern. If a newspaper can get four independent accusers to speak on the record, you can bet there are dozens more.
Gin & Tonic
@geg6: That seemed obvious from pretty much the beginning, when he asserted that he couldn’t possibly remember all their names. I’m younger than Moore, although by probably less than I care to admit, and I remember the name of every girl I dated, which was mumble-mumble years ago.
bystander
@Patricia Kayden: I think she retained her partnership but was removed from the firm’s management committee. If she is an adjunct anywhere, she should be removed from any law school faculty without further ado.
Barbara
@geg6: How obvious and persistent would your conduct have to be to get banished from a mall? It suggests that someone complained to the management, probably some teenage girl’s mother.
Brachiator
@Patricia Kayden:
A lot of these people seem to be clueless, or so locked into the Sinclair/Clear Channel/Fox propaganda machine that they simply don’t know how deeply the Republicans are screwing them over.
debbie
Anyone familiar with Phil Roe (R-TN), Chairman of the VA Affairs Committee? There’s something on my FB feed about his proposing to charge vets $100/month to access the GI Bill.
Barbara
@Patricia Kayden: Among other reasons for removing her, the fact that she went on Fox could be used to undermine her credibility by plaintiffs claiming sexual harassment. It’s really stupid for someone in a position like this to make such a sweeping statement. And it wasn’t even close to being accurate in this case, because the women who are coming forward about Roy Moore have no prospect of obtaining money as a result of what he did to them.
debbie
@EriktheRed:
Yes. I heard a discussion about neo-Nazis this morning. Their anger stems from their not being able to get any dates.
NotMax
Ah, memories.
Technically across the street from a Walmart, but still…
Anne Laurie
@geg6:
Well, all those teenagers (that we know about) kept turning him down. What’s a perv to do, but keep trying?
Jeffro
@Major Major Major Major: win
Gotta love the inside baseball here!

@Roger Moore: Another good reason to stay out of Wal-Mart. Can’t remember the last time I was there, and they’re thick as flies around here.
different-church-lady
@quakerinabasement:
We can only hope that stays true going forward.
Patricia Kayden
@debbie: Well her attempt to throw women under the bus failed spectacularly. Perhaps your connection is going to have to give her a job. LOL.”
Patricia Kayden
@Barbara: The women coming forward against Moore are probably being subjected to death threats as I write this. They have absolutely nothing to gain and most of them appear to be Republicans who voted for Trump (which I find disheartening but whatever). To suggest that women subject themselves to intense scrutiny and ridicule by claiming sexual harassment is disgusting. I’m glad this Attorney has lost her high paying job for running her mouth.
El Caganer
Veteran Division? Veteran of what? Wing Bowl?
Major Major Major Major
@debbie: For many of them this is very true. A lot of the alt-righters were recruited from the “men’s-rights movement” that resonated strongly with, well, a certain kind of white male loser. Rather than try to build themselves up, they took solace in nurturing invented victimhood, and it’s not a big step from believing that white men are the real victims to believing in white nationalism.

@mai naem mobile: Sinema isn’t looking too bad with those numbers. I also didn’t see anything about there possibly being a Democratic primary, which is a good thing. Honestly if we get Arizona and Nevada in 2018 that will do a lot if we lose some other states.
Speaking of which, any news on the Heitkamp front? Or is she still thinking about gov?

In somewhat related news, a few of the alt-right crowd have just had their precious twitter identity-verifying blue check marks taken away. Names I’ve seen so far include Laura Loomer (grifter) and Richard Spencer (nazi); that goofball Baked Alaska had his account suspended entirely.
Based on who has lost blue check-marks vs. who hasn’t among that crowd, it’s too early to discern any pattern (assuming Twitter is consistently applying a logical set of standards in these decisions):

@debbie: Truly sickening. I can’t explain it, but I find Miller one of the most repulsive human beings I have ever seen. More so even than Bannon and/or Trump.

Judging from appearances, most of them still couldn’t get a date.

Spinal Tap with fangs ‘n’ blood attempt. Moderately amusing, the shroud becomes threadbare all too quickly. There’s a difference between trying to make vampires mundane and instead making them dull.
For a quirky off-kilter take on sanguinary cinema that doesn’t miss a beat, check out Tucker and Dale vs. Evil on Netflix.

@El Caganer: Mussolini had a Foreign Legion IIRC.

@Gin & Tonic:Moore remembers. He’s stupid and chose to lie about it. If he’d begged God for forgiveness, he’d be headed for a landslide victory.

Sam Knight’s response is based on this extremely popular video (see just beyond the 30-second mark), which many have set to music and otherwise edited in various creative ways.

Maybe they could have hired a professional designer. I mean, it kinda looks like the wearer is… a violent antifa person?
Okay, “TERRORISM Response Unit” works, but imagine “NAZI Response Unit” or “ISIS Response Unit”. It doesn’t come across in the same way.
Miss Bianca
@Brachiator: OMG, *that* director did the new Thor movie?? OK, it is *definitely* on the watch list now – “What We Do In the Shadows” made me LMGAO.

The wingnutosphere is getting purged from Twitter.
Business Insider is fingering Chuck Johnson as a connection between T Jr. and Wiki.
An article tying CA to the Brexit vote and intra party collusion in UK.
Drudge is tossing Bannon under the bus.
Josie
@debbie: Exactly.
Corner Stone
@Josie: I despise Miller to an incredible degree. And would enjoy a vigorous pummeling of his stupid slack face.
BUT! If someone said I have three pull tags here for you: Miller, Bannon, Trump. There is no hesitation there.
Amaranthine RBG
@MJS:
Ooops, I should have read comments first.
Josie
@Corner Stone: Fair enough. I just feel that Trump would not be able to accomplish stuff (like the immigration crap) without the help of true believers like Miller.
trollhattan
@Corner Stone:
Miller somehow looks like someone who as a kid decided he really, really wanted to become an undertaker, not to console the grieving but to spend a lot of time with the deceased. That’s without even knowing how his twisted brain works.
Love the high school video of him asking why the kids need to clean up after themselves when there are janitors PAID to do it. A real mensch.
trollhattan
@GregB:
Chuck Johnson seems too dumb to connect two extension cords, much less function as an intermediary in some international intrigue. Is this the level of sophistication we’re uncovering here?
GregB
@trollhattan:
It is why it was destined to unravel. Idiots like Johnson, Don Jr., Big mouth Roger Stone.

There’s one in Burbank now. Sigh. The Great Outdoors space had been vacant for 2 years and no one else wanted it. Luckily, it’s at the other end of the Empire Center from the places I go, so I can pretend it doesn’t exist.

This twitter thread is too funny not to share:
David Rothkopf
@djrothkopf
Says something about where we are that leading mainstream GOP candidate to replace Moore on the ballot is Sessions–a racist who has serially lied to Congress and was at the center of the Russia scandal. That’s considered an improvement?
Josh Marshall
@joshtpm
Ok look, when you’ve got a serial liar and maybe traitor vs a sexual predator sometimes you gotta improvise & make hard choices.
2/ otoh the sitting president brings both together in one package. So why choose? We can have it all!!
Mnemosyne
@GregB:
Phrasing!

@TenguPhule: I have to agree with you. This is not funny.

@Major Major Major Major:
I know you said you didn’t want to cross a bridge, but given Mountain View traffic these days I’m not sure it makes a difference.
The San Leandro one (about 22mi from my old office on the Embarcadero) is closer than the Mountain View one (37mi). The Pleasanton one is roughly equidistant.
Not hugely relevant, and doesn’t impact your point, but I felt compelled to remind a San Franciscan of the existence of East Bay. The bridges aren’t _that_ bad (particularly if your point of comparison is the 101).
PaulWartenberg
Personal promotion here for those in Florida:
I will be at the Clermont Comic Con this Sunday November 19th from 10 am to 5 pm. I will try to sell some books, show off some NaNo writing, and cry under the table whenever I see another bleeping news report about trump/Moore/that goddamn GOP tax cut on my twitter feed.
Hope to see you there!
