Kushner told CNN to fire hundreds of employees over 2016 election coverage https://t.co/G8O8DcQVn1 pic.twitter.com/hrVVd0kufO

… Kushner told Time Warner executive Gary Ginsberg that CNN should fire the employees because they were so wrong in their analysis of how the election would turn out, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
A White House official said Kushner didn’t intend for the comment to be taken seriously and was only trying to make a point, according to the Journal, which reported that the remark “wasn’t taken lightly” inside Time Warner…
CNN and its parent company Time Warner were in the spotlight this week over reports that the Trump administration wanted CNN sold as a condition of a merger between AT&T and Time Warner.
Justice Department sources told The Hill and other outlets earlier this week that AT&T had offered to sell CNN from the combined company to get the merger approved by regulators. Other outlets reported that the Trump administration had demanded the sale.
Speculation among Wall Street insiders and people within the companies has risen over whether the administration’s feelings about CNN could be influencing the decision, the Journal reported…
In non-bizarro America, the White House trying to force AT&T to sell CNN & a conservative media mogul trying to buy it would be a huge scandal.
In Trump’s America it’s Tuesday https://t.co/CcKjEyOTpi

Kushner basically is the ‘spoiled rich kid cartoon villain’ from what I’ve heard reported, yes. A dimwit full of his own importance, with no idea just how stupid and selfish he is, because he is totally insulated by inheriting money.

Trump, Kushner, Murdoch — which is the worst person? My vote is Murdoch — he is smarter and set the stage for the entrance of Trump and Kushner.
But, it’s a close call.
Major Major Major Major
@Frankensteinbeck: plus he sounds like a twerp. Everybody point and laugh at the twerp!
lgerard
Every time trump or kushner say something inappropriately stupid or evil the response is always “they were joking”.
The joke has worn thin
Boussinesque
I kinda wish the response from the companies would be “You know what? Fuck you, preventing you ghouls from controlling even more of the media is worth more than this merger, so we’ll call the whole thing off.”
Delusional, I know, but between Fox and Sinclair, letting Murdoch get control of CNN as well would make it even harder to prevent people from being bathed in conservative propaganda nonstop. I don’t know that that’d be reversible.
Major Major Major Major
@lgerard: agree. In his case these might really be jokes though. Kushner might actually be unaware that his jokes aren’t funny and have consequences
Emerald
Hey, if they have to sell CNN, sell it back to Ted Turner. He wanted to buy it back some years ago but couldn’t.
He’d turn it back into a news network that I might even want to watch!
Frankensteinbeck
@Major Major Major Major:
He is. He really is a twerp. Everything anyone thinks of when they hear the word, that describes him. You only have to hear him talk once after reading interviews with his employees, and it becomes crystal clear.
Major Major Major Major
@Frankensteinbeck: what a fucking twerp.

Trump and his outfit are so crooked they don’t even try to hide it. Like Harley Quinn said, “We’re bad guys. It’s what we do.”

Here’s an interesting approach to invoking the Fifth Amendment.

The twerp needs to spend the rest of his natural life behind bars.

@Major Major Major Major:
Have you HEARD him speak? Jesus Christ, what a, well, twerp. Putting the State Department on the cloud? Good grief. He’s absolutely convinced that by mastering a few buzzwords, he is God’s gift to all problem solving.

Oooh, BJ after dark.
Every day this crew remains in power is an insult to the planet.
Villago Delenda Est
@Frankensteinbeck: No wonder he gets along so well with his father-in-law. He’s Donald’s mini-me, moreso than Uday or Qusay.
Frankensteinbeck
@Villago Delenda Est:
He is. He absolutely is. And he’s dumber than Trump used to be, so he gets along really well with sliding-into-senility Trump. I’m sure Trump sees a kindred but non-threatening soul.
Major Major Major Major
@Frankensteinbeck: I have! That’s when i realized he’s peak twerp.

I could not understand the demand too split off CNN as it could easily function as it’s own business. The idea was to feed it to Murdoch do he could kill it.
Using antitrust law for such corruption is really astounding. As usual these people are worse than I can imagine them being.
We left impeachable offense behind months ago. Where does it end?
opiejeanne
@Frankensteinbeck: Hi you! In case you missed it the get together will be at Lucky Baldwin’s Trappiste in Pasadena on Sunday November 12 at 11am. That’s the one on Colorado where Allen crosses it. Mnemosyne says there’s lots of parking.
Hope to see you there.
opiejeanne
@Frankensteinbeck: Putting the state department on the cloud? How does that even work?
Major Major Major Major
@opiejeanne: same way it already does, he’s just too stupid to know what “the cloud” actually is. Give him three months and he’ll want to replace it with “the blockchain”.
Duane
Didn’t that twerp lie a bazillion times on his security app? Still, there he is befouling our country. Prison is too good for that waste of space.
Ben Cisco (onboard the Defiant)
@opiejeanne: He’s just tossing around terms he clearly doesn’t understand. Management by spreadsheet, except he doesn’t actually manage anything AND he’s fencepost stupid.

@Amir Khalid: His attorney must know Baud.

@Major Major Major Major: I am not hip enough to know what blockchain is yet but I am pretty sure I know what the cloud is and how it functions.
Fire all of the ambassadors and then put what exactly on the cloud? So dumb I can’t even…
My older daughter has a raclette business in Seattle, has a booth at various farmers markets and events around town, and does catering. She was hired to cater an event by one of the ambassadors that was fired by Trump, I think she might have been the one for Austria. Had to yank her kids out of school, there was no warning at all. Nightmarish. Now, we still don’t have an ambassador to Austria and a whole lot of other countries that we should and the state department is being purposefully shredded. Rachel Maddow did a segment on it on Thursday and I am beginning to think that Trump is a foreign agent for Moscow, whether he realizes it or not. Holy cow.
Major Major Major Major
@opiejeanne: in his little speech he talked about how it’s outrageous that the government has all these remote data centers just sitting around collecting dust when we could be using THE CLOUD! ???
Amir Khalid
@Major Major Major Major:
You mean Jared doesn’t know that THE CLOUD is really just other people’s data centres? Or that very big organisations (like the US Federal Government) get charged very big money to store their very big data there? He’s a very big ninny.
Major Major Major Major
@Amir Khalid: yep, his big innovation was replacing the cloud with the cloud.

Why is Ivanka never mentioned as being in Mueller’s scope?
In that Daredevil Trump remix, is that her real smile? Man, it’s toothy and creepy!

Omorosa and Miller also need to go down. I keep hoping that Sebastian Dorka (I know) gets beaten up in a bar for being an insufferable ass wipe.

@Frankensteinbeck: If you aren’t reading Jane Mayer’s Dark Money, you should.
One of the common threads amongst these people seems to be the idea that they are, “self-made,” despite the fact that they inherited a whole lot of cash and property.

@West of the Rockies (been a while): Isn’t Gorka physically very large? He’s an asshole but he can probably squash people.
What were we thinking when we let him immigrate? We have such demanding standards for Asian immigrants, but we will let in any worthless scum from the UK, Eastern Europe, or Australia (why were the Murdoch even allowed in?)

Jared reminds me of a young know it all new hire at a workplace where he thinks a lot of stuff done at the workplace is unnecessary and inefficient. The idiot doesn’t understand that these processes are in place for a reason – safety, quality control – whatever. There are very good reasons.

@Xenos: For Conservatives, I guess it ends when all the liberals are marched into re-education camps or buried in the cold cold ground. For hating Communists, there is a very Mao-ish tinge to their rhetoric; what with the whole wanting to destroy the urbane elite and all.

On the next Arrested Development, George-Michael has a rough start at his summer internship: “W-w-well, can’t we just make CNN fire everybody who reports things we don’t like?”

@Ben Cisco (onboard the Defiant): Do you mean the BJ after dark crowd or Kushner and company?
balconesfault
One of the remarkable successes of the right wing media over the last 20 years is that they managed to convince a large part of America that Democrats/liberals were already doing things like this … and thus they can’t be shocked into any level of outrage when the Repubs/Trump Cartel actually do it. They are innoculated from reality, ready to believe that it’s all tit for tat, and not a new level of evil that will transform the society their children grow up in into something very ugly.

Good news. Trump said he believes Putin when he says he didn’t meddle in the election.

Kushner is a David Spade character come to life and should be chased down by an angry mob like so.

deciding which member of this administration is worst is like deciding which steaming pile of dog crap on your lawn is the most disgusting…
David ??Merry Christmas?? Koch
but, but…. emails!
randy khan
@Amir Khalid:
It’s possibly even stupider than it appears. Those who don’t live in Washington won’t know about the incredible number of ads on the radio from companies offering to help federal agencies put their data in the cloud (generally, IIRC, people trying to sell server solutions). I bet Kushner heard some of those ads and thought it would sound clever to talk about it since it was a thing some agencies were doing.
randy khan
@JPL:
I’m glad that’s been settled now.
Booger
@Amir Khalid: And FWIW, the Federal Government has been mandated to move to the cloud for some time now (like starting in 2010) see for example OMB Directive M-16-19, and the whole FedRAMP program. It’s like arguing for Daylight Saving Time ending in November instead of October.
Another Scott
@lgerard: Yup.
I’m not a fan of violence, but maybe this guy could go visit Jared.
“Your ‘joke’ is not funny! (Wap!!)”

Javanka and the rest of the Trumpers think that the rules and norms don’t apply to them because they’re rich and ‘special’. They’re wrong.
Cheers,

@West of the Rockies (been a while):
My guess would be that Mueller doesn’t want to cause Trump to pardon people before any trap closes on him, and indicting Ivanka carries some risk. I think she received some trademark approvals from China, and if she were indicted for that, Mueller would be signalling that emoluments are in play.
eta: on the other hand, trademarks might be intangible gifts, and not easily pursued as emoluments, so Mueller has no case.
Mueller: We’re hunting wabbits and must be vewy, vewy quiet.
Ben Cisco (onboard the Defiant)
@Central Planning: Kushner and company, clearly.

“…CNN should fire the employees because they were so wrong in their analysis of how the election would turn out.”
Well, that is a fair point. But it kinda begs the question of who will fire Kushner for his analysis of how 666 5th Ave. would turn out.
Villago Delenda Est
@Booger: “The Cloud” is just “other people’s servers”. Which is fine, as long as you have backup TOTALLY UNDER YOUR CONTROL for everything on “The Cloud”.

@Ben Cisco (onboard the Defiant): We used to call it “management by airline magazine”.
