President’s mouthpiece sez president not at all under suspicion.
Our media is populated with figures who are even dumber than the people they’re interviewing. And THAT is a major problem.

How in the flying fuck would he know unless he was actually in the grand jury when the indictments were obtained? Trump ate this man’s soul, and he has nothing to show for it, and yet he still shills for him. Pathetic.

And susan collins says she’s seen no evidence of collusion.

I’m wondering if and how it matters what these people say. I guess truth is better, but Mueller and the NY State Attorney will do what they will do.
I suppose lies make it easier to shut those investigations down.

What the hell does the Jersey Whale know about it? Fuck that asshole.

Did anyone on the program ask how in the hell he would be in a position to know?
Patricia Kayden
@germy: When do voters kick her butt out of office and elect a Democratic Senator? That’s all that matters now.
@Dorothy A. Winsor (formerly Iowa Old Lady): It doesn’t matter what Trump’s liars say about anything because Mueller is the one who will decide if there was collusion between Trump’s campaign and Russia and he’s not playing.
Corner Stone
@Dorothy A. Winsor (formerly Iowa Old Lady): Trump is apparently screaming at Congress (on twitter natch) to DO SOMETHING! Which one can only assume he means do something to save his guilty ass.

That was my thought too. As things stand it seems unlikely that Bobby Three Sticks and his crew have found compelling evidence to exculpate den Scheißgibbon. And even if they had, they need to preserve their leverage over their investigation’s target so they wouldn’t want to give that away.

The Golden Rule: those who have the gold, make the rules (especially if they own all the stations).
One would think journalists would have a better command of the English language (Gov. Christie “claims” would have been more accurate).
Proposed solution: let’s tell the media that Trump is Hillary Clinton’s cousin*. They’ll immediately go into full-on Clinton-rules mode, and claim Trump’s guilty beyond any doubt.
*One might have to go back to Noah (or an Australopithecus ancestor such as”Lucy“) to find a common ancestor, but that just determines how many times removed one’s cousin is.

The worst part of this morning’s tweet storm:

Of all of his crazed tweets, Thiis one might be the most ominous.

@JPL: I’m not sure of anything when it comes to this buffoon. But citizen posses aren’t going to save him from Mueller. I think he’s trying to scare Congress into sticking with him when the real shit starts breaking.

Joy Reid just showed an ad from Ed Gillespie, who is running as the Republican gubernatorial candidate for Virginia. I didn’t know that he is running an ad where he shows the Robert Lee statue in Charlottesville and promised to keep all Confederate statues up. That is straight up White supremacy and quite shocking given what just happened in Charlottesville. I’m hoping that minority voters in Virginia show up in droves for that reason alone to vote for Northam.
OzarkHillbilly
@germy: We can’t have democrats muddying the waters with facts.

Brachiator
There is regular discussion about the failure of the media to be fair to the Democrats and liberals, and nostalgic calls for a return to the good old days and the Fairness Doctrine. But the country ain’t going back, and the greater danger is the consolidation of new and larger right wing media groups. Bloomberg News has a great article about how the GOP dominated FCC is aiding the expansion of Sinclair Broadcasting Group, which already controls a number of media outlets.
In short, the deal would greatly expand Sinclair’s media reach, and also let them charge other companies to use their broadcast technology.
Also, everyone would have to buy new TV’s or tv adaptors to use this tech.
There are also rumors that Steve Bannon would be hired to head the newly expanded broadcast organization.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump stops sending his shills to the mainstream news shows altogether and depends solely on his Twitter, Fox and Sinclair.
The Sunday shows have been turning to crap for years now. Last week, some female guest on Meet the Press seemed to say that because Trump was elected and is now our president, we should just accommodate his whims and utterances. I had to switch the channel while she was in mid mindlessness. I don’t know if these shows are desperate for ratings or people have been bought off. But they have much less influence, especially since younger viewers prefer Internets gossip to this drivel.

Most of the morning’s Twitter whingefest was about Mueller, but he got one in about health care (I refuse to link him). He essentially admits he’s trying to do health care reform via tax cuts, with the inevitable claim that premium hikes are on Democrats. @? ?? Goku (aka The Hope of the Universe) ? ?: Trump doesn’t care what the majority of Americans think about him or anything he does. His tweets are strictly targeted towards his bigoted supporters. So that’s why he tweets out ridiculous stuff like, “Even though it is clear that I have done all I could do to destroy the ACA, Democrats are responsible for its destruction.” He knows that his supporters will lap all that nonsense up. I watched some of it. It is amazing. They’re down the rabbit hole. They’re covering this as the dueling scandals of the Trump and Hillary Clinton Administrations. CNN actually led with the Clinton Administration scandals, although the Clinton Administration is imaginary.
Pack it in. They’re lost and they’ll never be found- wandering forever in Trump’s made-up world, pursuing the Crimes of Hillary Clinton. I wonder if normal people watch it and are like “WTF- is she President?”
They are a reality show. All of them. All we can do is watch.
Kay
Indictments are real, however. They are or are not taking one of these assholes into custody tomorrow. I wonder when reality hits for that person. It must be wild to operate in this other dimension and then have something real and serious and extremely personal occur. That person or persons won’t be able to play anymore.
Baud
@Kay:
To be fair, her scandals were imaginary too.
Kay
And they ALL covered it as if it’s real. Remember that. There are two separate worlds and they willingly and eagerly decided to live in Donald Trump’s. Hillary Clinton doesn’t even WORK in government anymore yet she is on all the cable shows as if she is some alternate government. I have no idea what these people would talk about without her. She is their careers.
MattF
@Kay: Manafort must know he’s under the bus and being repeatedly run over. The others… I really have no idea. ‘Mad as hell’ is the starting point, but it could go anywhere from there.
Kay
@Baud:
Another massive failure. They’ll be leading Trump out in handcuffs and these assholes will still be debating the imaginary Clinton Administration. They fail and fail and fail. They’re actually getting worse.
Corner Stone
@Kay: Think for a second that we honestly have about 10 legitimate candidates for who that *first* indictment may be headed for! We can narrow it down to 3 or 4 that make the most sense but it could easily be any of another 5 or so as well!
Villago Delenda Est
@? ?? Goku (aka The Hope of the Universe) ? ?: Given that Andrew Sullivan’s fondest wish is to be a Kapo in Pat Robertson’s Vernichtungslager for fags, you can see where Amaranthine RBG is coming from.

@Kay: But I’m sure the NYT’s subscriptions will increase.
Kay
@MattF:
Chris Christie is the person they choose to interview. The least popular governor in NJ history and someone who doesn’t even work in the Trump Administration. That’s who they chose to present this to the public. In a way it fits, since they’re covering the imaginary Clinton Administration they may as well have the completely irrelevant and imaginary “national leader” Chris Christie do the reporting. It’s beautiful. This isn’t real. Its not that it’s poor quality work. It’s not even real work. It’s a show- entertainment.

What does this mean, “Everyone involved with “Meet The Press”, “Face The Nation”, etc goes up against the wall when the revolution comes. It sounds like you want them to get shot?
Maybe its meant as hyperbole, but I want to respectfully ask if that is appropriate imagery?

MattF
@Kay: The trouble with Flynn is that he’s patently nuts. From a prosecutor’s point of view, that makes him an unattractive target.
Elie
Could there be more than one indictment? How about Flynn AND Manafort.
No matter who it is, the regime and its supporters will be swirling with rumors of betrayal and so many lies that even THEY will be unable to keep their lies straight. They will be terrified and in part, its due to their own monstrous incompetence. They have no idea who on their “team” knows what and therefore, who can have the goods on any of them. And being the fine people that they are, they will be lined up to throw each other under the bus. These folks will lose even more of their minds (the little that remains anyway). We are in for some very, very rough times because the chaos to our government is going to be unimaginable…
Villago Delenda Est
@debbie: That’s how bad the situation has become. Tumbrels for all these assholes.
Corner Stone
@Kay: I will be disappointed if it’s Flynn. *Unless* they also scoop up Flynn Jr. That’s when shit would get real for the Fabulous Flying Mishkas.
I want it to be Manafort because I think he knows something about everything. Getting him sweating and having Trump not know to what degree he is cooperating…that would start the heat.
I *really* want it to be JarJar but that’s because I want to get this shit started proper. And that would set the fuse on fire.
Kay
I know a lot of you like cable shows and I did too at one time – I like Joy Reid as a announcer or whatever you call them. But I watched this morning and it’s bad for me. It’s just poison. I don’t know that there’s anyway to make it better, even. They all try at one time or another to make it worthwhile but it may be impossible. They have to start over :)
I knew it was a mistake. I swear I’m dumber for watching.
Jeffro
Maybe our national snooze media could ask GOP members of Congress what outcome they feel Trumpov is looking for by putting “DO SOMETHING!” out there?
Corner Stone
@MattF: Flynn is fucking nuts and he’s now got Bug Fucking Nuts Ass Crazy James Woolsey coming after him also too. So I think Mueller already has Flynn where he wants him and knows what Flynn knows.

@Kay: It might be Flynn. He would be a small fish at the periphery of all the Trump Treason. Flynn has his whole bag of fish that is rotten so he’s as easy as anyone for Mueller to start on solid footing and then wedge in.
There has to be a reason Trump was so energized to try and keep Flynn in the WH and get Comey to back off. It’s certainly not because he likes the guy or has any loyalty to him.

Whoever it is, we are going to be in the middle of chaos and incredible dysfunction for the foreseeable future. Trump is already crazy but as we have seen, way too many around him are as well. They are likely to do more damage to our system both to deflect and distract but also out of spite. These are dangerous people with very few checks on their behavior — especially as the Republican Part refuses to be in any way patriotic. Do not underestimate our danger while bringing these people to justice.
