On the Road is a weekday feature spotlighting reader photo submissions.
From the exotic to the familiar, whether you’re traveling or in your own backyard, we would love to see the world through your eyes.
Good Morning All,
This weekday feature is for Juicers who are are on the road, traveling, or just want to share a little bit of their world via stories and pictures. So many of us rise each morning, eager for something beautiful, inspiring, amazing, subtle, of note, and our community delivers – a view into their world, whether they’re far away or close to home – pictures with a story, with context, with meaning, sometimes just beauty. By concentrating travel updates and tips here, it’s easier for all of us to keep up or find them later.
So please, speak up and share some of your adventures and travel news here, and submit your pictures using our speedy, secure form. You can submit up to 7 pictures at a time, with an overall description and one for each picture.
You can, of course, send an email with pictures if the form gives you trouble, or if you are trying to submit something special, like a zipped archive or a movie. If your pictures are already hosted online, then please email the links with your descriptions.
For each picture, it’s best to provide your commenter screenname, description, where it was taken, and date. It’s tough to keep everyone’s email address and screenname straight, so don’t assume that I remember it “from last time”. More and more, the first photo before the fold will be from a commenter, so making it easy to locate the screenname when I’ve found a compelling photo is crucial.
Have a wonderful day, and enjoy the pictures!
So I pushed the final eclipse post to tomorrow, mostly because it’s the second round of chemo for mom and I’m a bit bummed, so I needed something whimsical, fun, and neat. Of course a reader had just the thing….time to flashback to….The Warriors!
Today, pictures from valued commenter dr.hypercube.
Some pix from a walk/subway ride friends and I did last Sunday 9/3 retracing parts of The Warriors (both book & movie) with selected readings from The Anabasis and shouted catch-phrases at (in)appropriate points. CAN YOU COUNT, SUCKAHS??

Thank you so much dr.hypercube, do send us more when you can.
What a neat thing to do, and take some pics of! So many thanks!
Travel safely everybody, and do share some stories in the comments, even if you’re joining the conversation late. Many folks confide that they go back and read old threads, one reason these are available on the Quick Links menu.
One again, to submit pictures: Use the Form or Send an Email

Cool idea.

I wonder how close these are to the Wanderers?

Maybe I should try a similar thing with “Down and Out in Beverly Hills”.

@?BillinGlendaleCA: I’m thinking of doing a “Winter’s Bone” series.

@?BillinGlendaleCA: yes!

@OzarkHillbilly: That should be interesting! Ozark is another possibility.

@JPL:
Uck. I stay as far away from Lake of the Ozarks as possible. That place is insane. Read an article not long ago about an “arms race of boat size” there. People are putting boats made for the ocean on that lake. One marina owner has had to make serious repairs to his docks 3 times this year due to the wakes from these behemoths.

@OzarkHillbilly: Be sure to warn us before you post pictures of dinner preparation!
OzarkHillbilly
@JPL: Also just read that a 3rd season of “True Detective” is in the works, this time taking place in the Arkansas Ozarks.

I am not doing It or any other Stephen King movies. I didn’t sleep for a month after The Shining.
NO WAY.
Laura
@OzarkHillbilly: ….and the fabulous, Oscar winning Mahershala Ali has been cast.
Alain, will keep you and your mom in my thoughts. Fuck cancer.

There are many apps and websites that let you find movie locations — here’s just one.
Occasionally G will be watching an old TV show and he’ll call me in to see a location that he just recognized. They did a lot of filming in this area of the Valley since its close to both Universal and Warner Bros.

Also, since this is an open thread, Hamilton was awesome, though I still have a bit of that emotional letdown you get when you finally do something you’ve been anticipating for years. I did not realize until I actually saw it onstage that Jefferson is Prince. Now the purple coat makes sense. ?

Love love love The Warriors. Thank you for this.
