It's kind of funny that Trump keeps feuding w Blumenthal, who's not up for re-election until halfway through the Booker presidency.

? ?? Goku (aka The Hope of the Universe) ? ?
Some vacation he must be having. Guy just can’t unplug ??
Amaranthine RBG
Jesus – what is the point of going on vacation if you’re up early watching CNN?
He can’t even vacation right.
West of the Rockies (been a while)
It would be fun to watch him watching Lawrence O’Donnell or TRMS or Joy Reid. He’d poop his britches and stroke out.
burnspbesq
The Mets should trade Stephen Matz for Trump. It’s a Pareto-superior move. Matz would be a better President than Trump and Trump wouldn’t be worse than Matz as a starting pitcher.
West of the Rockies (been a while)
@Amaranthine RBG: I wonder how much time he spends with young Barron… twenty minutes per month?

This is the hope of all good people everywhere.

God, an actual five-year-old would be a better president.
Tomorrow is Samwise’s birthday, he’s going to be three! I’ll get him some bougie food and treats. I got him a new shiny purple collar recently, but I think one of my friends will be getting him a collar too. And I might get a toy from my coworkers.
Incidentally, Samwise would also be a better president.
Amir Khalid
A long time ago, or maybe it just feels that way, I read that the incoming White House Chief of Staff was going to ensure that the President didn’t tweet anything that was rash and/or stupid.
Meanwhile, à propos of nothing at all, a lovely song, suitable for late-night listening, from the woefully underrated singer/songwriter Patti Scialfa.

it would be different if this fucker was actually trying, you know, reading the position and policy papers created for him but its like he can’t be bothered because his opinion on something is as good as fact or whatever stuck from the last conversation for whatever topic is on hand.
I can’t get away with that shit at work, nobody can, but that’s how this ignoramus rolls.
It would almost be different if there was in fact some kind of resemblance to a core set of policies that had even a nodding acquaintance to a principle (although I guess you can call racism a principle) The only other basic tenets that appear to be in play here… is how can it make the Trump family money and paying off whatever political were-guild he owes Putin and his gang.

@Amir Khalid:
It’s been awfully quiet on your side of the park this offseason. Since you’re about to lose Coutinho, might weinterest you in a barely-used Ross Barkley?
rikyrah
That last tweet was hilarious.
Raoul
@Amaranthine RBG: He’s compulsive AND lazy. What a combo platter of suck.
Amir Khalid
@burnspbesq:
We might still get Virgil Dijk from Southampton. And I don’t know that we will lose Coutinho for sure. Herr Klopp hat es gesagt, dass er nicht zu verkaufen ist.
Jim, Foolish Literalist
somebody tweeted the local weather forecast. It’s supposed to rain all weekend, so the tweetrums will no doubt be rolling, especially if there’s news from Meuller on Thursday or Friday, or one of the Meuller protecting bills pass
Raoul
Also, f**k Rump for going after Blumenthal’s reserve duty. The Shitbiggon had multiple deferments. Jeebus.
Jim, Foolish Literalist
@Raoul: The Shitbiggon had multiple deferments. Jeeps.
Yeah, but the VD was rampant at Studio 54!

First time I’ve seen that in a while. Stern was just talking about sex, and trump seemingly brought Vietnam into it out of nowhere

The funny thing is that he is supposed to be on vacation…lol. What a morAn.

Here’s what made Trump freak out
Bravo Blumenthal.

Wow. I’m surprised to see Weigel throw in the towel on Sanders. The ongoing FBI investigation must be worst than the general public is currently allowed to know.

If Trump was a real hard-core golfer, he’d be out playing in the rain, so long as the greens remained puttable. WIMP!

@SoupCatcher: The Marina Safeway.

@cmorenc: I wholeheartedly encourage Trump to play golf in the rain, especially thunderstorms.

@SoupCatcher: Pagan, 3199 Clement, Burmese and Thai. Not much around Chrissy Field, since it’s surrounded by the Presidio.
Ninedragonspot
@Origuy: on Clement St. I also enjoy the Sichuan-Taiwanese Spicy Girl 辣妹子, one of the few places in the city to get stinky tofu.
Pagan definitely gets high marks, though.

@SoupCatcher: if you need desserts, load up on Kara’s Cupcakes. They served as wedding cakes for Mr. 9Dragonspot and myself.

Sigh, the Padres lost to Cinti big time. (11-3?) It was on one of the TVs at HIllcrest Brewing, and my frog-brain always has to look.
The sportsball thing set us off on a google quest. End of story: Penguins! Go Cole! But srsly, neither of us had any idea how recent the NHL is).
So Mr S – look, he grew up after voting for Anderson, and ever after has been a solid Dem vote, but I despair when he likes Jeff Flake for a “good interview” with the Guardian. (Sorry no link, I’ve heard enough already.)
Srsly, the Guardian? Sigh. I’m trying to buck myself by repeating actual knowledge tested over decades: Brits are no better at US politics than we are at British politics. But fuck. Every single slimey Flake msg screamed “Bullshit for the bothsiders”.
I can’t pry him out of optimism. Which is fine, I guess. He tells me I’m a horrible pessimist – which I call realism, but I think we need both, but fuck. Jeff Flake?
How do I know he’s lying? His lips are moving.
SectionH
Ok, I srsly need to get some clear references and/or names in the mess of “him”above. It’s spouse who is optimistic. It’s a Republican who lies.
Sorry – my stupid.
Basilisc
Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but Trump has a thing about Blumenthal because Blumenthal won his first Senate election by beating Trump’s friend, Linda McMahon, CEO of the WWE, whom he would later appoint as head of the Small Business Administration. This was in 2010, otherwise a Republican year, and the “misstatements about Vietnam” thing was more or less McMahon’s entire campaign platform. Blumenthal was in the Marine Corps reserves during the Vietnam war, but a couple of times misspoke and said that he “served in Vietnam” when he meant “served during Vietnam”. As we know, Trump’s brain can’t keep track of facts, figures, or arguments, except as they relate to injuries done to him, his family and friends. So these tweets about Blumenthal are really, and pathetically, typical.
Citizen_X
@Jim, Foolish Literalist: “killed by women”???!!!???? What the literal fuck? Like STDs don’t affect women? What a misogynist freak.

@Amir Khalid:

Thanks for the background. I had forgotten much of that Senate race…especially about McMahon.

@Major Major Major Major: Happy Samwise day!!! My three turned nine on July 31.

@Basilisc: But that requires that Trump actually cares about McMahon. Simpler proposition: did Blumenthal, in his role as AG, bring any legal actions against Trump properties?
SoupCatcher
@SgrAstar:
Thank you!

One of today’s morning talk shows featured the renovation of the White House, the “dump” where Trump has to live. Three million dollars in renovations. Again, imagine if the Obamas had moved in and spent three million dollars on renovating! Paint, carpet, air conditioning and much more.
Also on the same show were the glowing numbers for the economy and the stock market boom. It’s depressing that Trump can ride Obama’s coattails and claim the credit for his successes.

@donnah: Let’s just hope the contractors don’t get stiffed.
Speaking of which, does anyone know about whether the “University” settlement is actually getting paid? I have not seen a single story on this since the $25m settlement was agreed on back in November. But was the settlement paid?
No One You Know
@Manyakitty: Seconded! Happy Samwise Day, indeed! My two have their coming home anniversaries in May.
