I am so jealous of you west coasters. Stuck in Ohio were the only thing happening is Kay commenting. Our R senator is a jerk.

Love Joe’s! Wish I could be there. February!

Never been to Santa Fe. I have heard a lot of good things about it.
Laura
While I will be unable to attend, I will, in an act of solidarity, have tacos for lunch.

@schrodingers_cat:
Despite having eaten at many “New Mexican” restaurants elsewhere, the food in Santa Fe is uniquely wonderful (chile adobada FTW). Suspect it’s some combination of the local chilies and the altitude but whatever the reason, a food paradise and some of the nation’s oldest historical sites and structures, set in the high desert. Also home to quite a few of the nation’s ghoulishly wealthy, which isn’t easy to ignore but whatevs.
Gin & Tonic
Huh, only 2,200 miles. I guess I could say I’m going out for lunch and not be too specific.
O. Felix Culpa
@Sab: Well, New Mexico doesn’t usually count as west coast, but we’re happy to be included in the event of Calexit. Condolences on Ohio GOP, also too.

Have a wonderful time. And some green chile for me.

I lived in Santa Fe from October 1977 to June 1978 volunteering at a small private school then running a chair lift at the Ski Basin all the while sharing a house on Galisteo Street half a block south of Paseo de Peralta. We shopped at Kaune’s, drank at La Fonda (when we could afford it), and loved being ski bums. Ah, youth. (One of my housemates is now a political reporter for the New York Times.)

Love love love Santa Fe, have been a regular visitor for 30+ years. First stop was always Bert’s Burger Bowl for a green chile cheeseburger and onion rings – “One Location Worldwide” – but alas, it’s gone. Maria’s is the first stop now – their Margarita menu is next level.
Have a basket of sopapillas for me.
Tom
Cheryl – I live in Los Alamos and would love to attend but I’m on assignment near Las Cruces. Hopefully next time.

Maria’s margaritas are great. The trout is my go-to dish there.

Have a prickly pear margarita for me!

@O. Felix Culpa: Unfortunately, you’ve got Arizona in the way. We’re not taking them with us.
O. Felix Culpa
@Origuy: Hmmm, yes I understand your position vis-a-vis Arizona. Maybe build a yuuuge bridge from NM to CA? Or a beautiful wall around AZ?
Origuy
@O. Felix Culpa: We’d take Nevada. If you could get the Navajos to secede, we’d just have to run the bridge from Nevada to the reservation. Cut the distance in half.
ETA And the Hopis.
