Mr Stagger Lee
Go CAVS!!!!!
O. Felix Culpa
There’s hockey in Nashville? Who knew?
efgoldman
Well, the Preds are at home, so they’ll have a genuine NHL goalie. Apparently when they travel, some Humpty amateur from a police and fire league steals Rinne’s uniform and pads.

There’s a dude dressed as Emiliano Zapata in the crowd at Azteca!

TonyCast, anyone?
I’m going back and forth. Right now, a song is being sung from a nominated musical set in Newfoundland.
This is not the South Park movie.

So my boss and I were in LA Wednesday. He’s from Cleveland. Yuuuuuge Cavs guy. But he’s depressed over the way the series has gone, so he says we aren’t watching the game tonight, I made reservations at this little Asian fusion bistro in Manhattan Beach.
Great. Reservations are at 7:30. So we meet in the hotel bar at 6:15 or so, figure we’ll have a couple of rounds and head off.
The game is on the TV at the bar of course. If you watched the game you know what’s next: the Cavs were playing well and had a small but consistent lead. So he’s glued to it, and asks me to tell him when it’s time to leave.
7 pm. Time to go. No, give it a few minutes. 7:10. 7:20. He says, We’ll leave at halftime ok? (He was super apologetic, but I really didn’t mind)
So we leave at halftime. But we must have picked the only Asian fusion bistro in Southern California that had a TV behind the bar! We ended up sitting at the bar for dinner and watching the game, which the Cavs lost in the last minute after being up by 7 in the fourth quarter.
Not a fun time!

@Elmo: Little Sister?

I’m watching the US vs Mexico game as I make the weekly food and prep for at least an hour on this video project due next weekend. I don’t exactly weekend correct.

@efgoldman: It is amazing that each team can only play well at home in this series. Based on which team gets more games at home, this does not favor Nashville.
efgoldman
@Adam L Silverman:
It’s amazing that Rinne turns into runny Jello in Pittsburgh.
Bruins’ Rask used to have the same problem in Montreal.
Mike J
Cool. I don’t watch CBS Sunday morning because its generally on opposite football or F1, but kinda neat to see a particular boat on the end of the dock in one of their stories.
Looks like this one.

Sissons got HOSED out of a goal. That idiot ref blew the whistle WAY too early.
Adam L Silverman
@efgoldman: Murray didn’t do so well in games 3 and 4 at Nashville either.
efgoldman
Both sides playing VERY dangerously in their own defensive ends.
James Powell
@efgoldman:
Agree, they look tired, sloppy.
That disallowed goal is going to loom large, I’m afraid.
Adam L Silverman
@efgoldman: @James Powell: Also, the ice started bad and has gotten worse.
Mike J
@Adam L Silverman: The ponds in Nashville have usually started to thaw by now.
Adam L Silverman
@Mike J: They manage to do excellent ice in Tampa through to the Cup final. They should be able to do it in Nashville too.
Bitter Scribe
Pens seem to be having a lot of problems with their line changes.
JCJ
I’ll take the point. It would have been great if Pulisic could have scored on that shot that went wide.

@Adam L Silverman:
I’m old enough to remember when the old Boston Garden had no a/c. Finals on hot, humid May and June nights could be… interesting.
One night vs Edmonton the ice was covered with two feet of fog. Nobody could see the puck. They had to have both teams skate around in circles to disperse it.
I don’t remember if that was the same night (but pretty sure it was the same series) that a circuit board blew out from the strain, AND the game went to triple OT. Ended after 200am.
Bitter Scribe
There’s not going to be any paint left on the goalposts at this rate.
Adam L Silverman
@efgoldman: I watched that game on cable. From Tampa.
Adam L Silverman
@Bitter Scribe: The boards in Nashville produce very weird bounces.
Adam L Silverman
@Bitter Scribe: @Adam L Silverman: Case in point.
Bitter Scribe
Man, what IS it with these fucking morons throwing catfish on the ice?
efgoldman
Shit
Adam L Silverman
And that is the end of that.
efgoldman
Fucking Penguins. Only thing worse would be Montreal.
Seanly
what a great game! I used to live near Pittsburgh right around the time when I got into watching sports. Still a Steelers fan and definitely rooting for the Penguins.
japa21
@efgoldman: Nothing is worse. The refs were on the Pens side the whole series.

SUCK IT HATERS!!!!!!!
David Anderson
Hope the refs have good security
efgoldman
@japa21: @David Anderson:
I hate the Pens, but they were clearly the better team.
The zebras didn’t turn Rinne into a sieve when he played in Pittsburgh.
RobertDSC-Mac Mini
@efgoldman:
That was in 1988. The 4th game of the series. It had to be moved to Edmonton to finish. The Oilers closed out the Bruins in that game to win their 4th Stanley Cup. Shortly thereafter, Wayne Gretzky was traded to Los Angeles in a trade that stunned the hockey world.
rikyrah
Congratulations Penguins???
Barbara
@RobertDSC-Mac Mini: He asked to be traded as I recall. This was definitely the best game of the series. Murray stepped it up and Pittsburgh really looked faster than Nashville in fights for the puck.
a thousand flouncing lurkers (was fidelio)
My conclusion is that the Penguins were just too lazy to play overtime for this.

who cares? when does soccer season start?
