I love living in Pittsburgh. A truly wonderful, beautiful city. And above the Mason Dixon line, a requirement for any place I plan to live. Plus, well…the Pens. Nuff said.
She’s still around, keeps her own blog going intermittently (I subscribe to it by email, that’s the only reason I know). I think she lurks here, and every now and then looks in long enough to reassure everyone that she’s still alive and kicking, just really busy with life and that.
I want one of whatever El Tigre was drinking last night. Dude had quite an evening apparently, judging by that 3am mugshot..

@Yoda Dog: he bore a strong resemblance to Homer Simpson in that pic. Bless his heart.

Fuck. I know little about this team, so I hope that was a fluke.
Oooo, now a challenge…

Let’s go Sabres!!!!

Nashville can’t hold a candle to Pittsburgh as a city, but by God GO PREDS!
Having grown up in Memphis, I am inherently anti-Nashville, but Nashville has “In the Round” at the Bluebird Cafe. What does Pittsburgh have to top that?
36.
geg6
I have no idea what that is. But if it has to do with country music, I don’t want to. Pittsburgh’s worst dive bar would be better than that. We do rock and roll here. And sports. I’ll take the Penguins, Steelers and Pirates over anything Nashville has to offer. And let’s not even talk about which city is more beautiful.
The first Pittsburgh goal came about because Crosby got away with blatant interference behind the net, or the puck would have been cleared. The third was goofball luck. If the Preds aren’t going to get the calls or the bounces, this is going to be a short series.
This is a politics free thread. Hockey only.
Hockey is life, and life is inherently political. So, no.

Breezeblock
Awesome. Nashville goal called back, and the Pengwhines get a 5-3 power play.
In other words, no need to watch anymore, the NHL is in the sack for the Crysbys.

It can’t be “Hockey Only” and be an open thread. If you haven’t seen “Eight Days A Week – The Touring Years” do so.

@Breezeblock: Yeah that might work if no one had watched the last series. Pens got screwed on almost every call. And still won.
an early 3-0 lead is one of the least stable in the game.
I don’t know if that’s actually true, statistically, but the Preds showed huge brass ones in this game. When it was 3-0 they could just as easily have decided it was over and mailed it in. Instead they completely shut Pittsburgh down until almost the end, and took the game over. A good sign for the rest of the series.

Nashville totally got jobbed with Subban’s goal being disallowed. I haven’t seen a video that clearly shows Forsberg was offside.

Well they are playing the Nashville predators, so that’s pretty frightening.

Go Bolts.
Old Dan and Little Anne
I hope the Pens win in 7. I’ve watched more playoff hockey in the last 2 months than a normal person.

Goooo PREDS!
C’mon. No one has ever visited Pittsburgh and said, “Y’know, I would mind living here.”
SiubhanDuinne
Wonder who Trump is rooting for.
Ooooops.
SiubhanDuinne
@PaulWartenberg:
Yeah, I’m still wishing for the Sens.
Laura
Go Pens! Hoping for a right quick, but spirited 5 game series.
EricNNY
Pens all the way!

there was a person who used to comment here with the nym Southern Beale. I recall that she was a Predators fan. In case she checks, Go Preds!
David Anderson
@Jeffraham Prestonian: I ended up in Pittsburgh for eighteen years so I resemble that remark
Steve in the ATL
@SiubhanDuinne: sorry, the correct answer was “Blackhawks”

@SiubhanDuinne:
Well of course, but the Senators got further this year. And I do have a vast number of Canadian friends, many of whom actually live in Ottawa.
Naturally, in an ideal world, it would always be the Blackhawks.

@SiubhanDuinne: SoBe is a Nashvillian (Nashvillite?), and was a Preds fan before they ever won a playoff series, if I recall.

Balloon-Juice is so decorous these days. I kinda miss the golden age when the front-page media elite would tell us to go puck ourselves.

It’s not how many shots you take, it’s how many shots go in that matters.
