On the Road is a weekday feature spotlighting reader photo submissions.
From the exotic to the familiar, whether you’re traveling or in your own backyard, we would love to see the world through your eyes.
Good Morning All,
This weekday feature is for Balloon Juicers who are on the road, travelling, etc. and wish to share notes, links, pictures, stories, etc. from their escapades. As the US mainland begins the end of the Earth day as we measure it, many of us rise to read about our friends and their transient locales.
So, please, speak up and share some of your adventures, observations, and sights as you explore, no matter where you are. By concentrating travel updates here, it’s easier for all to keep up-to-date on the adventures of our fellow Commentariat. And it makes finding some travel tips or ideas from 6 months ago so much easier to find…
Have at ’em, and have a safe day of travels!
Should you have any pictures (tasteful, relevant, etc….) you can email them to [email protected] or just use this nifty link to start an email: Start an Email to send a Picture to Post on Balloon Juice
Please accept my apologies for last week’s few pictures; I was very sick with a very nasty cold and spent a few days in bed without the energy to go to my computer in my top floor home office. I’m much better now, and just remembered to set this to publish Monday morning.
So..one more day without pictures as I’m wiped for the day and need to have some dinner before it gets any later, not to mention this is the first time in days where my wife wants to be near me as she was so afraid of being INFECTED.
I really didn’t read the blog at all last week once I got sick, so I am sorry if I missed some great stories. I pledge a renewed energy commencing with Tuesday’s post, so please do send in pictures!

Happy Vernal Equinox, everyone!* ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

The Horrors, First Day of Spring.

@SiubhanDuinne: Appalachian Spring. A favorite of mine.

And Vivaldi’s Spring.

@SiubhanDuinne:
Seconded … but I thought Shitgibbon had declared that the Southern Hemisphere — if they want us to defend them, that is — has mandated that it be Spring RIGHT THE FUCK NOW! in Oz and Kiwiland. And that they’re not complying is FAKE NEWS!

Dairy Queen offers free ice cream cones Monday I don’t know how in the hell I am going to get my wife out of the drive thru lane.

Hi Alain you asked me to e-mail you w/Samurai Jack info. What’s your e-mail & what info do you need?
Elmo
So sick of traveling. I’ve been home only 11 of the past 30 days. Tomorrow I go to Birmingham for a bargaining session with the most unpleasant union rep in my portfolio.
No pictures from THAT outing will be forthcoming.

Feel better, Alain! Poco sends warm regards from a cruddy Motel 6 in Denver. He hasn’t slept much because he was on guard duty most of the night…many suspicious noises! His chauffeur gave out of steam after 500 miles yesterday (Bluff to Denver). The drive from Vail to Denver was brutal.

@Pogonip: when you want me to make the post (day of week, time) and use the contact a frontpager form from the Quicklinks at top.
I’m finally feeling close to normal and will prepare an extra great selection of pix for tomorrow, sorry to all again. When I get sick, I don’t mess around!
satby
@OzarkHillbilly: love that too!
OzarkHillbilly
@Quinerly: Are you homeward bound now?
Elizabelle
@OzarkHillbilly:
Good article on Chuck Berry in the SL Post Dispatch. Am sure you all saw it and already discussed.
Safe travels, Poco and Q. Hope you have another good adventure or two. Why was the drive from Vail so tiring?
Glad Alain is feeling better, too.
Quinerly
@OzarkHillbilly:
Homebound indeed. Tomorrow will be 6 weeks gone. Yesterday was the first time I had been on an interstate (except for a small amt of time around Flagstaff and St. George) since Grants, NM over 4 weeks ago. Time to get back to Soulard and see Red’s finished mosaic work in my downstairs bathroom.?
Quinerly
@Elizabelle:
All lanes of traffic packed. Crazy drivers. Trucks struggling, hogging lines, and changing lanes. I was mentally unprepared for it when I hit it. Was tired. A lot of weekend traffic in Moab, plus I took that beautiful road (28) out of Moab to I 70. Full of Sunday people enjoying 80 degree weather on the Colorado River. Traffic everywhere. Moab had had a big jeep rally over the weekend. I skipped Arches NP because of it.

@Quinerly:
Sometimes, the best part of any trip is getting home. See you next year.

Back from Disneyworld with a sore knee and my niece’s cold, but a fun time was had by all. I sent Alan a photo of something from the Japan pavilion at Epcot, so maybe that will get posted this week.

@Elmo:
Change the name of the city and you just described my life!
Pogonip
@Alain the site fixer: Oh, OK, I usually read this on a phone & don’t see any lnks. I’ll get on the big screen and look.
Although now that I think of it, all you really need to do is post a “Samurai Jack Open Thread” late Saturday night or early Sunday morning and we viewers will take care of the rest!
laura
@Quinerly: safe travels home for the two of yous.
Thanks for keeping us filled in on “A lady takes her doggie on an enviable 6 week tour of the Soutwest.”
