As I understand the state of play in the Trump got wiretapped story, the Trump Administration is desperate to prove he's under investigation

It took Nixon 6 years to become as paranoid as Trump has become in just 6 weeks.

Crucial thing to remember: Trump has no grasp of systems, only personalities. So when he says "Obama," that means the US gov't minus Trump. https://t.co/zb1jygVAgl

Trump was known for years to tape calls in his own offices. And during campaign, staffers fretted their offices were bugged.

Where is He is NUTZ tag, AL?
Major Major Major Major
I have a character named Nuts in my novel. He is a much, much better person than Donald Trump. But then again, so is the villain.
hellslittlestangel
My name is Donald J Twump, billionaire. I own a mansion and a yacht.
TenguPhule
If Trump can just shoot Pence, then himself, the public purse can be saved the costs of two trials.
hellslittlestangel
@TenguPhule: But not the cost of president Paul Fucking Ryan.
fuckwit
The Great Unraveling continues.
Mnemosyne
In the “small world” files: it turns out that one of the leads of the touring company of Fun Home that I saw today is a relative of a former co-worker.
TenguPhule
@hellslittlestangel: His trial I would enjoy. He’s in this Russia clusterfuck up to his rectum.
Penn
He bugs any phones he can get his hands on, as evidence his employees and hotels.
It’s always, always, always projection.
BBA
I still say Trump is going to die in office. Whether that’s in 2017 or 2047, I don’t know.
TriassicSands
@Major Major Major Major:
Then again, isn’t everyone? (OK, apart from mass murderers and serial killers.)
Major Major Major Major
@BBA: A 70-year-old, in the world’s highest-stress job, who can’t even have an ounce of fun at it, mostly eats fried chicken, whose idea of a good workout is giving a speech? Yeah, he’s not gonna make it.
TriassicSands
@TenguPhule:
Whoa! Slow down, pardner! Remember the order of succession. If they both go at the same time we get Granny Starver as our president. You can’t want that.
We need to have Trump go. Pence takes over. Chooses, hmm, Hillary Clinton as his VP. Then, Pence goes and HRC is president.
Actually, there is no conceivable scenario that would put a reasonable person in the presidency if Trump, Pence, and any of the others who entered the picture all disappeared.
That’s because the GOP is rotten to the core. Anyone Pence would choose would be at least as bad. Who knows, he might choose Ryan.
TriassicSands
@TenguPhule:
Where is Dick Cheney when we need him?
Chet Murthy
@TriassicSands: There’s a theory (well, more than a theory) that engagement in demos and such causes people to become -more- committed and more active in politics generally. So that, once having agitated and worked to rid themselves of Dampnut, our co-citizens will do the same to rid themselves of his leftovers, ZEGS, Yertle, & co. I sure hope it’s true. Gonna be a long slog, -after- we dispatch Smallgloves. Best case, of course.
JWR
@TriassicSands:
LOL! (Took me a minute. ;-) )
?BillinGlendaleCA
@TriassicSands: He’s cleaning his shotgun.
TriassicSands
@Chet Murthy:
I can see that being engaged in “demos” as you call them would empower people to become more engaged in general. But getting rid of presidents is a big deal, we’ve never done it. So, while there may be hope of getting rid of Trump, who is the most vulnerable by virtue of being a monumental POS and complete loon, it’s hard for me to see the appetite for slaying kings, so to speak, not waning after one victim. But no matter what the appetite, we don’t have a means to replace a Republican with a Democrat, and I can’t think of any Republican, offhand, that I would want as president. True, there are some who are better, but that’s a relative term and it doesn’t mean anything like good.
On the other hand, I would enjoy each and every casualty — whether it be one or many.
TriassicSands
@?BillinGlendaleCA:
Speaking of the Dickster, I wonder what his take on Trump is?
Some have said that Trump makes them nostalgic for Bush. I don’t feel that way. I saw Bush interviewed and asked about Trump and it didn’t make me want even one more second of a Bush presidency.
TriassicSands
@?BillinGlendaleCA:
You do that when it’s loaded, right?
?BillinGlendaleCA
@TriassicSands: Don’t be silly, of course you clean when it’s loaded.
Major Major Major Major
@TriassicSands:
Sure we do. A Democratic House majority could file articles of impeachment in January 2019. The new, obviously ascendant Democratic majority in the Senate gets a number of prominent crossover votes from the Republicans to impeach Donald Trump, then Mike Pence, then anybody else who takes office and might be complicit in the Russian collusion.
Or, you know, 2020.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Major Major Major Major: With a Democratic majority in the House AND with Dolt 45 and Dense gone; you get President Nancy Smash!
Major Major Major Major
@?BillinGlendaleCA: Oh yeah, my tired brain was thinking Ryan would be next after that.
Like I was saying, easy peasy, we have the means, the voters just have to do it.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Major Major Major Major: Of course conservative head would explode across the country, a whole lot of cleanup would be required.
I spent much of the day in my car, but only moved about 10 feet.
TriassicSands
@?BillinGlendaleCA:

Good to know. Obviously, you’ve taken the NRA’s “gun safety class.”
On a more serious note: I was in the hospital ER once (delivering someone else) and they brought in a teenager who had, in fact, been cleaning his 12-gauge shotgun when it was loaded. They rushed the kid into the OR (he lost the leg). Meanwhile, his father sat in the ER, crying, and repeating over and over “I made sure he went to the gun safety course (or class?). I made sure he went…” It was very sad. I feel fortunate to have come from a household in which the NRA was never mentioned and guns played no role in our lives (though my father did have a small pistol). Of course, that was before the NRA became completely unhinged and guns became sacred items worthy of cult worship.

@Major Major Major Major:
I won’t dismiss the possibility that Republicans could screw up so royally that Democrats could take one or both houses in 2018, but I wouldn’t bet a penny today on it happening. The Democrats are defending so many seats in the Senate and the Republicans so few that turning the Senate will be extraordinarily difficult. The problem in the House is gerrymandering. I plan on working to achieve that, but, as I said, I wouldn’t bet on it happening (from the vantage point of March 2017).
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Major Major Major Major: Even worse, it’s a Prius. I was moving stuff that had been in my old car and routing the cable for my dashcam.
Repatriated
@?BillinGlendaleCA: Which would be cool. On the other hand, the Speaker doesn’t have to be a member of Congress. For political comity, Democrats should elect a wildly popular non-Congressmember as Speaker — one who was not only experienced in the role into which he would be elevated by the successive impeachments, but also could not run again in 2020 to make it palatable to wavering Republicans. Yep, you guessed it. Thanks — Obama!
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Repatriated: You can be the one to talk to Michele Obama about that idea. I hope that you have good health insurance.
Repatriated
@?BillinGlendaleCA: Touche’.

@TriassicSands:
The same as any highly placed Wall Streeter,: Trump is a pennyante grifter.
I think that Trump figured out he and his cohorts were being wiretapped, and that the real s**t is about to hit the fan. Hearing Chris Coons telling Comey Friday to release the transcripts made me realize that transcripts do exist and they must be damning or they wouldn’t still be around. If the transcripts were exculpatory, the matter would have been dispensed with and no one would be the wiser. Trump now has to make whatever comes out to look like a hit job by The Angry Negro. That would at least satisfy the racism and hatred at the core of his support, and give the tv heads something to ponder while they blather their bothsiderism.
I actually heard one of the tv nuts say yesterday that if in fact Obama ordered an illegal wiretap on Trump it would rival the Watergate scandal. Uh huh. In fact Obama got Hillary to help him install the bugs.
Gvg
These morons aren’t even processing that the entire worlds intelligence services had motives for wire tapping them.
I remember the first week, Trump gave me the impression he really didn’t get the level of scrutiny a US President gets every minute. He isn’t that expert at evading detection of his scams. Sooner or later he’ll go down. He probably thinks the attention will die down. Doesn’t understand it never will.

@Repatriated: A black guy to clean up the whitey’s shite yet again? No, thanks.

It’s a “Well with Bush we never had to worry about Bush launching a nuclear attack on Canada over some article on a conspiracy website” kind of nostalgia. Also Bush was pretty decent by conservative standards with the minorities.
Enhanced Voting Techniques
Do keep in mind Trump has always been paranoid and has always tapped and spied on his staff. There was an article from his former managers saying Trump demanded they keep their office doors open so he could hear what they were saying. Likely this Trump panic is over him thinking he’s about to get the same kind of bullying he does to other people.
As Marshall says – in Trump world anything good for Trump is morally good, anything bad for Trump is morally bad.

It’s like some bizarro Republican version of Captain Marvel. “The Stroke of Eisenhower – the Paranoia of Nixon – the Alzheimers of Reagan – the Cluelessness of Bush I – the Stupidity of Bush II – SPACS!”

Except He still hasn’t released his tax forms and nobody cares. (Yes, you and I do, my point stil stands.)
They could find all this smoke about Russia but never ironclad evidence ( it is all in Russia by the way) that would force anything to happen. Trump has ridden out too many scandals that seem like killers for any normal person.
scav
@Enhanced Voting Techniques: I’d agree, with the twist it’s more Bush administration than the man himself and the hand making his lips move sometimes. There was still a baseline competence, often applied to dubious ends. Plus flickers of humanity.
Ella in New Mexico
@hellslittlestangel:
True. But in an scenario in which the President AND the Vice President have to resign, especially under accusation that they colluded with a foreign government to take office, just how fucking scared shitless would a President Ryan be and just how fucking disabled would any Republican Congress be in their efforts to achieve the deconstruction of the entire US Government?
Seriously, even if Trump alone resigns and takes his gang of traitorous advisors with him, Pence won’t have a free ride to to a God-damned thing without a huge fight. And I seriously predict after 2018 the R’s are highly likely to lose their majority in the Senate, which puts a stop to the madness.
As far as I can see, when you have a madman as President and a bunch of cocksucking bottom feeders using him to advance a fascist agenda, you gotta think strategic.

@Ella in New Mexico:
probably as scared as a president installed with 5-4 Supreme Court vote, and razor thin majority on only one house of government – who went on to govern in as bipartisan a fashion as posible.
