by summer, white house press briefings will be a small dog wearing a tie barking at a pigeon in a tie. the pigeon works for the daily caller

Pigeon in a bow tie … but otherwise this checks out https://t.co/ySLeHry2NN

the dog is named Spicy II, after the original Spicy, who was sent to a farm upstate to run and play with the other Sean Spicers

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!…
Why Spicer wants hand-picked gaggle: 1) avoid on-camera goof 2) Trump can't watch a gaggle 3) get press to 'whine' 4) sow internal strife

For all the left talk about Trump as master of distraction, he often does anti-distraction – bringing attention to big stories by ranting.

What doesn’t kill you, can only make you stronger.
America’s new motto in the Age of Trump.

but, but, …… emails!
The crooked, lyin, low-energy media wanted Trump and now they’re getting what they wanted.

@gene108: for some time now I hear that saying as “what does not kill you can seriously fuck you up.”
opiejeanne
@gene108: I think we have to embrace that philosophy, or the depression will kill us.
Aside from all of the recent Purity Ponies’ whining, I have begun to feel hope again. I have actually been pretty happy the past few days. Watching more of the press dig into the stories about all things Trump, seeing the amazing turn-out at town halls across the country, and Stephanie Hansen’s win today in Delaware certainly added to that. It’s starting to feel like we can get things done.

@opiejeanne:
I think people need to be very careful in any forum where they do not personally know a commenter. The vast majority of the people “upset” about Perez being picked over Ellison are, in fact, most likely Russian trolls sent to spread dissension and split the opposition to Shitgibbon. Keith Ellison isn’t upset, he is good friends with Tom Perez…and Perez’s choice is an historic one…first hispanic DNC chair. Perez is an Obama administration member…not, repeat, not a Clinton person. The DNC chair election was NOT a proxy battle for the primary. Anyone who claims such is suspect. There is no sell out here, no giving the party over to its “corporate overlords.” Perez is setting up an office to be dedicated solely to voting rights and getting people registered and equipped with picture ID. Ellison is his right hand man…and will keep his seat in the Congress. This is a good thing. Most of the people anguishing over this should be viewed with great skepticism in my opinion. And Glenn Greenwald, fuck Glenn Greenwald he is a libertarian asshole who wants to tear everything down…just like Assange…and just like Steve Bannon.

@David ?Canadian Anchor Baby? Koch: yup, especially, tapper, the tool.

@magurakurin: agreed. But they do influence progressives with their rhetoric. As I’ve fought with 2 today alone.
magurakurin
@Ruemara: the influence is seen in the results of November. Many on the left are easy marks.

@Couldn’t Stand the Weather: nice
Zam
@magurakurin: It may be true that there are Russian trolls out there contributing to this, but to shrug this off as only that is idiotic. I’ve been working on campaigns for 8 years and several of my former co-workers are buying into this non-sense of Perez being some evil neo-liberal who Obama bought off to crush Ellison.
I’d like to add that I’ve worked with Keith before and he is absolutely in my experience not part of their idiocy
magurakurin
@Zam: I’m no suggesting shrug it off but rather caution. Faceless people may not be what they seem and their efforts are swaying real people.
marcion
uuuugh can someone explain to me why the hell I should care whether Perez or Ellison had the top seat? Would they be strategically different in any way? Like is Perez a master of electoral judo, while Ellison is more of a tae kwon do guy? Neither of them seem to be particularly cozy with Wall Street, both of them seem pretty in tune with progressive causes (AFAICT), neither of them have any real scandal AFAIK…
I have yet to understand what anyone should be tearing their garments about…
Zam
@marcion: So I wasn’t to picky on the subject the position is not as powerful as many make it out to be, but I can tell you what I’ve been thinking as a political professional. So first off I supported Ellsion, he is my congressman and he has a very clear understanding of what a field program is. Ellsion also comes from a state in the midwest, which in my opinion is important, dems have too many people from the coasts running their shit and Ellison would be able to bring some perspective to the party in that. Perez worked in the justice department before his time as sec of labor. His time was marked by his work on fighting the shitty laws that intimidate democratic voters from voting, he also worked as labor secretary and has a good relationship with labor which is also important to winning. Both represent important parts of the coalition that gave us the presidency and that is why i’ve never really been worried about the election.
opiejeanne
@magurakurin: Um, what? Why do I need to be careful about this? I know some may be Russian trolls, but so what? I know enough people irl who are behaving this way, and I’d guess there are more of them than paid trolls.
And yes, I know all of the stuff you added below that and I agree. Did something I said make you think otherwise?

Jake Tapper said on air that he doesn’t vote, which I inferred meant that this should make everyone believe he’s impartial. This made me raise my right eyebrow. I remain dubious of him. But I welcome anyone using their ability to spread the word, using words like “lies” when it applies.

@OzarkHillbilly: What doesn’t kill you etc…
In my younger days I had an opportunity to row in the Philly Frostbite regatta. This particular year it was below freezing and they cancelled it while the men’s novice crews (my heat) were still getting in place. Army was in shorts and T-shirts with that slogan. They left in an ambulance.

@OzarkHillbilly: Agreed. “What doesn’t kill makes you stronger” is a very poorly thought out exercise routine. I prefer free weights and the elliptical.

Where was this type of commenting/reporting during the election? There is not much about Trump that wasn’t known for a long time. This is the same guy who ran for office except that he has power now. Even the Russian stuff was mostly known in early summer. The guy is clearly not fit for office, yet they pretended he was a competent candidate for president and a private email server is moral equivalent of Trump’s sedition, racism, misogyny, insane policies, and general and clinical dishonesty.
I know I am not bring anything new to this commentariat when I say this, but I look at the media now, and especially things like this Tapper video, and just go nuts that this wasn’t done last summer when it would have prevented the inevitable damage now being done.
