Awww…that is great. I loved the first one where the camera operator got it wrong and the two fans fixed that right quick. Thanks for sharing.

Since I now spend my downtime in the office searching for pet rescue stories because I can’t take the state of my country/world; here’s a heartwarming rescue from Turkey.

Something in my eyes…..
Thanks for posting a heartwarming moment for a frantic week!
@Yarrow: Camera operator got it wrong. That reminds me of the time that I went to a play with two lesbian couples and a gay male friend of mine (I am a straight woman.) As we walked into the theater the person handing out programs gave one to each woman of the first couple, one to each woman of the second couple, and to James and me who were not a couple only one program. He and I have joked about that ever since.

@rikyrah: I’m not talking about general public acceptance of gay rights; I think that’s solid and a generational thing as well. But what I am concerned about are the bogus “Freedom of Religion” laws and the fact that we, as a country, provide very little legal protection to LGBT people. That will get worse.

@debbie: Yes! so cute — was laughing thinking about my 30 lbs rescue, because here’s this totally gentle, well-behave horse interacting with a toddler, while Maggie would have had that child on her butt in .5 seconds.
@MomSense: Just ordered a hat! Thanks for posting the link. My husband said, out of the blue the other day, “I want a pussy hat.” I don’t knit, so I was going to try to figure out where I could get one when I saw your comment.

Repeating my suggestion from post in prior open thread that you should all go see “I Am Not Your Negro” if you get the chance. I hope it wins the category it’s in for the Academy Awards, but kind of doubtful it will. I didn’t realize Baldwin had written as much as he had on the entertainment industry, especially Hollywood, so I wasn’t expecting that kind of theme in the film, which will probably make it lose votes from the Academy (especially since LaLa Land seems to be just the kind of movie that he dismissed as a “narcotic”).
Moviegoers Can Catch Free Screenings of āHidden Figuresā This Weekend
Since premiering at the end of last year, Hidden Figures has made a major impact on Hollywood. The movie earned three Oscar nominations, including a nod for Best Picture. And after surpassing La La Land at the box office on February 6, it became the high-grossing Best Picture nominee of the year.
If youāve yet to see the film despite all the buzz it has received, AMC Theaters and 21st Century Fox are teaming up to offer you an opportunity to see it for free: On Saturday, February 18, moviegoers in select markets across the country will be treated to complimentary screenings of Hidden Figures, Entertainment Weekly reports.
The limited promotion is coming to theaters in 14 cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. Groups and individuals can reserve tickets on a first-come, first-served basis at AMC’s website. If you donāt see a location near you on the list below, you can request additional screenings for your school, community group, or nonprofit organization here.
AMC Southbay Galleria 16, Rodondo Beach, CA (LA)
AMC Aventura 24, Aventura, FL (Miami)
AMC Southlake Pavilion 24 (Atlanta)
AMC Ford City 14 (Chicago)
AMC Westbank Palace 16 (New Orleans)
AMC White Marsh 16 (Baltimore)
AMC MJ Capital Center 12 (D.C.)
AMC Southfield 20 (Detroit)
AMC Esquire 7 (St. Louis)
AMC Cherry Hill 24 (Philadelphia market)
AMC Bay Plaza 13 (NYC)
AMC Mesquite 20 (Dallas-Ft. Worth)
AMC Bay Street 16 (Oakland)
AMC Carolina Pavilion 22 (Charlotte)
I also recommend “Moonlight.” Lots of good movies still around.
My big box of assorted pink yarns just arrived from KnitPicks. Now I have to decide how to make a summer protesting hat. I’m thinking of a mesh lace, but knitting it flat and seaming the sides so it keeps its shape better.
Are you thinking lace above the ribbing? I have found four inches of ribbing helps the hat to hold its shape.
How about this lace ribbing stitch? You could work it continuously and the eyelets look a bit like kitty cats.
The linen in Cotlin helps the cotton to hold its shape.

Well, I’m sure I’m tearing up thanks to this and not the flu/hay fever shit I’m struggling with all week.

@MomSense: Can you post your Etsy links again when you have the light pink ones back in stock? I want to order a few but it now says they are all sold out and won’t let me order. I’m a serious seamstress but knitting totally escapes me!

Well, Theresa May isn’t feeling the love in Great Britain.
Here’s an interesting breakdown of what Brexit is and how it could possible play out over the next two years.
Also, we had about 8-10,000 come out for the women’s parade and here is the crowd for the Planned Parenthood support march last weekend.
Looking ahead to the science march, that means I get a brain … hat.

There’s no going back on gay rights. Trumpistas can rail against the tides of change, but on gay rights, human rights, the country has moved forward.
LAO
@greennotGreen: I certainly hope that you are corrected, but with Jeff Sessions in at Justice, you may be overly optimistic.
