@Villago Delenda Est: Hey! The Indians haven’t won the Series since 1948. And yeah, that’s not as long as the Cubbies, but it’s the second-longest drought of any non-expansion team.

Yeah, would love to see a Cubs-Cleveland series. Whoever would win, it would end a long drought.

Cleveland is my favorite AL team–they are the only one that the Braves could beat in a World Series, and for that I will always be grateful.
Now, go Cubbies!

@Schlemazel: commissioner would just award the victory to the Yankees or Red Sox
When I don’t have a personal rooting interest, I generally go for the team that has gone longer without winning. That puts me squarely in favor of a Cleveland/Chicago World Series. About the only time I’d make an exception would be for a case like the Yankees, who have won so many times they could go a few centuries without winning and still have more than their fair share of championships.
15.

Once the Mariners are out, it’s Blue Jays all the way.
Now that the Red Sox are eliminated, don’t care about anything but the Cubbies!!!

Having flashbacks to 1992, when I was a HUUUUGE Braves fan, but worked for the Canadian Consulate General in Atlanta — in an office in CNN Center, which was owned by Ted Turner, who owned the Braves at the time. So there were a lot of divided loyalties.
Never have been able to persuade Canadians that it wasn’t the Braves who turned the Canadian Maple Leaf flag upside down — it was the United States Marines colour guard. But the Braves have always been blamed, and the (false) legend has long since overtaken the facts.
22.
SiubhanDuinne, liberal mob enforcer bitch
As for this year, well, I’m a Chicago native and Cubs fan, but retain a great affection for Canada, especially the Jays. Still — if it comes down to those two teams in the WS, no question where my loyalties and cheering will be!

@Adam L Silverman: Hanging in there. Damn good thing the Seahawks pulled off the win yesterday.

@efgoldman: You’re welcome. They subbrand under most major grocery store brands. They apparently have four different mint flavors, but I’ve only ever seen the mint moose tracks as opposed to the other mint varieties. I’ve also had their chocolate moose tracks and the fudge brownie moose tracks and just the moose tracks moose tracks (vanilla ice cream base). All of them are good.
@Roger Moore:
But none of those face one of the other long-term losers.

Because I’d known her for 20 years before we became professional colleagues, my higher HQ called me when they got the news from the folks at FT Lee and I spent the next two days calling everyone I could in aikido and then the few contacts I had (a couple of Canadian generals I knew from coalition work) within the MOD. Eventually the guy she stipulated to execute her estate got ahold of me and I was off the hook. But that was the second time I had to call every mid level to senior black belt in my aikido organization and tell them someone had died. I was okay till I got Sensei and his wife on the phone. She didn’t make it through my first sentence and then I just finally broke down and started crying at my desk. Miserable business all around. Every so often I’ll be at an academic conference and bump into someone and they haven’t heard and I tell them. Or I’m on an assignment and working with a Canadian senior officer and have to tell them as well.
56.
Adam L Silverman
@Ben Cisco (onboard the Defiant): It didn’t. GEN Petraeus was allowed to plead down the charges. He had to surrender/not contest being stripped of his clearances and I think there was a fine. I think SecDef put the Judge Advocate on notice more about the adultery and fraternization stuff, which the civilian courts won’t touch, but is a UCMJ violation.
Tito? Since when? I mean, I call him that (sometimes) because I’m an annoying asshole, but is that what Sox fans called him too? (Wiki apparently says yes?)

Gus Triandos! I haven’t heard that name in something like 50 years.
Bob Nichols and Ray May, I remember them doing Bert and Harry Piels.
To be more serious: I didn’t realize Nichols and May did commercials. I was/am a little young to have heard them in their heyday, but their stuff was pretty funny. (Bob and Ray’s was, too, of course, but in a different way. Of course, we won’t talk about Chris Elliott.)
Whenever the Dodgers roll into the Chicago to play the Cubs (or the White Sox, sometimes), they have typically stayed at the Trump International Hotel and Tower. However, when the Boys in Blue visited the Cubs back in May, there was one team member to who decided to find his own accommodations.
