I thought the Trump campaign decided to avoid that symbol because it makes the T look like it is having intercourse with the P.

Trump-Pence: Giving New Meaning to Letting Your Freak Flag Fly
4.
dirk walls
There was a big lifted 4×4 that drove through a busy intersection the other day. It was probably a $50K truck and had at least 4 teenage boys in it, including the driver.
In the bed they had mounted a very large Trump flag and they were driving around, yelling and flipping off people, having a good old time. They were basically a rolling youtube comments section.
Hopefully none of them will actually vote.

The Lewis Country Store near me has an electronic sign that has recently read “Trump that Bitch,” but has now switched to, “The only pussy Trump grabbed was Paul Ryan.”
Nice. So sorry to see the store still has customers.

Nothing like letting yur Freak Flag fly. Great Minds think alike.

I’m just killing time at work today. My boss is in Paris, my project manager is on jury duty, and half the staff is either on vacation or out sick with the same plague I have. I got all of my files switched over for FY17 and now I’m twiddling my thumbs.
Fortunately, tomorrow is a vacation day, so I’ll be taking Amtrak up to Santa Barbara for the weekend — woot!

@Mnemosyne:
Santa Barbara–lucky! IIUC you’ll be south of the big storm headed to N-Cal and the PNW. Remnants of a super typhoon predicted to dump as much as 17 inches in places.
I have a friend in Ben Lomond (I think that’s it — she just moved there) who says she’s battening down the hatches. I’m assuming that, once again, the rain will go east and miss So Cal.
@Major Major Major Major: anybody that was even semi conscious over the last year should have KNOWN drumpf was a rolling disaster..Pence screwed himself…no sympathy from me.
It’s pretty close. Though I was sad to have someone who used to live there tell me that it’s kind of a crappy place to live full-time. It’s great for a visit since it’s completely walkable. Most of the time, we park our car at the hotel on Friday and don’t drive again until we leave on Sunday.
Carpinteria is also nice, and not quite as frou frou.

@Mnemosyne: Predicted to track east and north, with only the southern extent still unknown. Nothing will dip south, which after five dry years would be really, really welcome.
Long-range forecast is for a “La Nada” pattern in the Pacific while there’s still an enormous blob of historically warm water off the coast. The forecasters are hiding under their desks at this point, rather than predict based on the oddball conditions.
@Mnemosyne: It is frou frou, but how can that be blamed since geographically it’s perfect. An East West Sunrise Sunset in the ocean – rare for the West Coast. Perfect weather with enough rain to keep everything green. Nice beaches. A pier. A downtown. A University. Hills to hike and bike a couple of miles away.
Too funny. Now even the bleeding Chicago Tribune is poking about in its vaults and found a story of Donald talking up some carol singers outside Manhattan’s Plaza Hotel in ’92, learning they were 14 and, you got it — ” Wow! Just think — in a couple of years I’ll be dating you.” Ah, ’92, the little clip is titled Such a comedian
It’s a nice ride, and surprisingly inexpensive — my one-way coach seat was $18. Plus you can catch it right from the Glendale station and don’t have to trek down to Union Station.

So … since this is an open thread. For those in New England looking for some leafpeeping – it’s peak foliage in Vermont right now, and in the 25ish years I’ve been living here, it’s one of the best I can remember. Went into the office today, and the morning traffic to Burlington was shockingly slow because of all the rubber-necking at the foliage from people who actually live here.
And if anyone’s interested, I’d be happy to help with suggestions for beer/food, in Chittenden/Washington Counties especially …
@L Boom: It’s like looking at a bowl of Fruity Pebbles right now at my compound. So beautiful.

Finally got home from the hospital this afternoon.
Quick summary:
Went in to my PCP on 26th about a non-stop bloody nose
Went to ER on 27th – platelet count slammed down to zero – checked ini
Many medical things later, got my spleen taken out on the 9th.
More medical things – Finally got signed out.
My wife is still in respite care until next Thursday at least (she has M.S. and requires assistance.)
I’ll be winding down on the ster01ds for the next three weeks while checking my blood sugar.
The cats don’t know what to make of me. The little one keeps sniffing at me to make sure I’m really me and the tom is keeping his distance for now.
Anyway, I need some serious sleep at this stage. I asked a friend to come in and help me adjust the apartment tomorrow to help with my temporary lifting restrictions.

@redshirt: I know, right? I almost hit someone this morning while I was zoned out looking at the foliage. The Richmond/Bolton part of 89 is pretty amazing.
Looks like a trip to Hill Farmstead for some growler refills is in order this weekend, for sure.
@workworkwork: That’s quite a couple weeks you’ve had, so glad to hear that you are back home now. Take care of yourself and don’t forget that it’s okay to ask for help.
