New PRRI research released today shows Trump on the losing end of a historic gender gap:
As expected, non-whites favor Clinton over Trump by huge margins (72% vs. 17%), but Clinton is also annihilating Trump among white women with a college degree (68% to 29%), and even white women without a degree are split 40%-40% between Clinton and Trump. The findings can be read in full here.
Meanwhile, the incomparable Sam Bee weighed in on PussyGate and presidential debate #2. The whole show was fabulous, but here’s a clip:
Samantha Bee called presidential debate #2 a “grotesque travesty of democracy.” Pretty much! As I mentioned yesterday, many of us lady folk were angry and disgusted at the spectacle of a qualified woman like Hillary Clinton being stalked and insulted by hirsute walking Roofie.
Bee says Trump knows he’s losing and is therefore prepared to “suicide-bomb” the election. If Trump’s Twitter output this morning is any indication, Bee is dead right about that:
Despite winning the second debate in a landslide (every poll), it is hard to do well when Paul Ryan and others give zero support!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 11, 2016
Our very weak and ineffective leader, Paul Ryan, had a bad conference call where his members went wild at his disloyalty.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 11, 2016
It is so nice that the shackles have been taken off me and I can now fight for America the way I want to.

Uh-oh. He’s shaking out the Tic Tacs right now and limbering up the stubby orange fingers. It’s time to protect your pussy, America! C’mon ladies — and allies of all genders! Let’s knee this sleazy shitbag in the groin and step over his bloated carcass into history!

knees to the groin are not debilitating — stomp on the instep of the foot, downwards strike on the bridge of the nose and then a knee to the groin for good measure — if we’re going to beat fascists and authoritarians, let’s do it right.

And the digit in question should be a zero.
Then again, that should be the number of *any* group’s support for Trump, but it isn’t.

I still hope that Trump drops out and is replaced. Two reasons:
1. The increasingly small possibility that he wins and the country is imperiled.
2. I think he and his white nationalist movement is legitimized by his being the GOP candidate.
I know most think he has no chance and his replacement would have a better chance, but the possibility of a an October surprise/issue, especially terrorism-related, is always there. Besides, if he drops out many of his supporters will write him in, unless he directs them to vote for a candidate of his choice.

Brilliant Sam Bee clip!
I signed up to do GOTV calls next week after Colorado ballots get in the mail–somewhat terrified, but I’m told I’ll have a script and will be calling Democratic voters, just to make sure they got their ballots and will be mailing them back. I can do this–for her, for the country, for all of us!

It does seem, at least, that the horserace narrative has taken a fatal blow. There were a couple of reports of insta-polls with joyous ‘Trump Won!’ headlines… but then, not so much. And then a little later… even less. At this point, the horserace narrative is at the galvanic frog leg stage; it twitches when you shoot a couple of volts through it, but it’s dead.

This could be good, as the more they are isolated and purified, the closer they come to consisting of 100% them and 0% anything else, the clearer it will be that they are not a supermajority on a national scale. But they will still be a supermajority in the rural areas — and in their own minds.

I’m a Canadian, so maybe I am not a good judge of male Americans, but how in Dog’s name can men support Deadbeat/Douchecanoe Donald over Hillary?
And BTW, I am getting more than a little tired of male right wing sleaze buckets trying to pedal their misogyny and bigotry as normal among men. I had an exchange on FB with a couple of maroons who called the athletes who disputed that men in locker rooms talk like Trump, full of BS. They then upgraded this to Total BS, then Double BS. I told them I would start taking them seriously when they got to Quadruple BS.

What a big baby he is. If he couldn’t the Presidency without Paul Ryan carrying him he really is a loser.
And yes, in phonebanking for Clinton at this point, you’re calling people who were identified (via prior calls in the spring and summer) as voting for Hillary, just reminding them to mail in their ballots or urging to them to vote on election day and get their friends out, etc. Or telling them about a rally in their area, which people get exited about it. It’s fun!

So when’s the N-word tape dropping?
Also, I have a couple of friends who have been on a social media Facebook tear, making sure everyone knows that BOTH candidates suck! They want everyone to know they haven’t been sucked in to this mess like everyone else, and it’s too bad we aren’t as smart as they are in realizing there are other candidates. I’ve seen comments where they wonder if people even know there are 2 other people to vote for, Um, no. No one but you has heard of Johnson and Stein. I’m glad they are still voting, but the fact that they realize how awful Trump is and talk constantly about how they would never want him as President, but still won’t vote for Hillary Clinton is frustrating.

An interesting data point: Last night I wrote a pretty long “why I’m voting for Hillary (as opposed to voting against Trump)” post on Facebook. I have a moderately mixed group of friends, including some people who have been violently pro-Trump and/or anti-Hillary in the past. So far, I have 35 likes, 3 shares, 11 positive comments and zero negative comments. Since the Trump people have been pretty vocal before, that’s not what I expected. I’m wondering if they’re crawling back into their holes.

@NorthLeft12: Think about it in terms of people who supported Rob Ford, even after the crack tape, etc. During the time Ford was T.O. mayor I was stunned when my father (Conservative leaning but not an ideologue) reacted wildly when I made some glancing remark about what a maroon Ford was. All this stuff tumbled out — Ford is a “problem solver” but the sneering elite media dump on him, he showed those unions, he’s not all politically correct, etc. There was an emotional fury to it that made it clear that this wasn’t really about Ford, but Ford was a symbol of something darker,…
And Ford was astonishingly popular even when it was entirely clear he was a dimwitted runaway train.

White male Trump support has been analyzed to death this election cycle. What’s the deal with white women without a college degree? What’s the beef, especially considering the clear misogyny in much of Trump’s utterances? There was a Maddow segment about a small rally of Women for Trump outside the DC RNC headquarters, and while Maddow was snarkiing big time on these people, there was nothing devoted to hearing them explain why they were clinging to The Donald.
The other breakdowns which bear some scrutiny are younger vs older white women, and married vs single white women.

The breakdown for the white women tends to be that many of those white women without college degrees are married to Trumps no. 1 demo, so it’s not surprising.
Generally Democrats split single white women, slightly lose educated white women. The biggest chunk they lose is married white women, again because most vote with their husbands, we tend to get the older and younger white women who tend to be more dependent on government services and don’t focus as much on taxes as the group in the middle.

Just because someone is gay or a POC or both doesn’t preclude that person from also being a rich asshole, a religious fundamentalist asshole, a gun-loving asshole, or a Randian asshole.
