Some users report their comments ALWAYS going into moderation or disappearing. Some others report moderation after editing a comment (but not all users).
This is most worrisome as you can’t report the issue in a comment if it disappears! So if this happens to you, dear reader, please use the Contact option in Quick Links at the top to send me details so that I can make it better for you.
Details I need:
1) what happens
2) nym
3) email address you fill out for the comment form
4) does this always happen at home but work elsewhere, or vice-versa?
5) what’s your IP address? go to Google and type “what’s my IP address” and include the number

538 has Arizona flipping to light blue. Emerson has Hilz up 44-42. Insight had them even. AZ hasn’t gone blue since 1996 and I don’t know when before then.

Can we get a reporter (or several) pushing on GOP officials like McConnell and Ryan…since they can’t bring themselves to act like Americans and dump Trump, can they at least help keep the republic together and vouch for the legitimacy of elections & the eventual winner? Is that too much to ask?
piratedan
if AZ goes blue then John McCain should be in big trouble…

@Mai.naem.mobile: We can always hope that Grampy Walnuts gets inundated by a Big Blue Wave. Dreamers gotta dream.

@Mai.naem.mobile: it’s too bad Hillary is the worst major party nominee evar or we might have a shot! ?

@piratedan: I read yesterday that AZ is voting to legalize recreational marijuana. What is going on in Arizona? That has been a big spot for doing roadside searches, as I-10 (California -> Eastwards) goes right through it. Do they need revenue or something?
Mr. Mack
@Major Major Major Major: Meh. Heard that about Gore, Kerry and now Hillary. I don’t think she’s anywhere near the worst, see Dukakis, Michael. She has so much built in bias I’m surprised she stays as chipper as she does. Kinda bugs me when Dems buy into the Repubs narrative about our candidate. Myopic as hell.
Mr. Mack
Of course my snark meter is in the shop so apologies if I misunderstood.

Many voters are tuning in only now. Time to hit the deadbeat from all sides with all his fuckups, starting with his bidness creds. Today, many ex-repub congress critters came out against him.

Third major public poll shows Clinton topping Trump in a week, even in a 4-way contest.

@piratedan: I was hoping. . . Ann K is down 12 points to McCain over at Nate Silver’s.
Sheriff Joe gonna go ?

@amk:
I am still of the opinion that there is a good-sized chunk of the electorate that likes the idea of a Trump, but was horrified to see him in action at the debate. They like the idea of an outsider going to Washington, knocking heads, and getting politicians to do their goddamned jobs, but I think a lot of his soft support is now realizing that Trump is not the guy who can do that.

Article at NPR about Michael Chertoff publicly supporting Hillary. “Chasing small peccadilloes” like Whitewater “is a luxury we only have in a world at peace.” Think you could have come to that conclusion any earlier?

@Keith P.: AZ is not as red as Idaho, granted our strain of wingnuttery here is really virulent but there’s a weird libertarian strain that runs through the GOP side of the line. You know, Goldwater Republicans… believe in actual conservatism not so much the racism (especially true in outside of the Metro areas, where beasts like Arpaio thrive living off of fear generated amongst the retirees), places like Flagstaff and Willcox et al.. lots of old rancher families and enclaves that do believe in personal freedom and fairness. It’s how we ended up with an independent commission to draw up the Congressional districts. So the idea of fairness is still in play with the population (not so much the lege, who sued to remove the commission leader for not being partisan enough… she was an independent).
Now Clinton is within the MOE but McCain (based on the polling) is safe.. That tells me that Trump is losing the significant Mormon vote and some of the rancher vote but those folks are still coming home for McCain. Essentially pledging to split their tickets. Now how much of that stays true, do those folks even bother to go to the polls or do they eventually come home for Trump? Kirkpatricks latest ads have her attempting to tie McCain to Trump, will have to see if they have any effect. McSally (AZ Congressional Dist 2 – R) is starting to run ads showing where she’s bucked her party. She’s a huge womens vet advocate and that plays well but on everything else, my understanding is that she votes with the R’s. She won by less than 150 votes last time and if traditional Dem voters show up and with marijuana on the ballot, she could be in trouble too.
The ad battle right now is mostly about the marijuana legalization and lots of cherrypicking numbers about how the taxing of the product just means more big government… hard to say how this will bend but I think pro is ahead based on what I hear.

@amk: Read that link. Leach thinks he sucks. Whitehurst feels a racial connection to the Trump campaign, but wont buy in. Clinger just holding on to public opinion, while Petri was really dishing on Trump.

@Mnemosyne: Until these washington DC is the source of all problems goppers realize that they are the ones that keep sending these corrupt obstructionists there out of spite, they gonna not get their wish, the deadbeat or not.

I’m afraid this won’t be helpful, but my own data point is that there have been occasional times when I cannot edit a comment, even immediately after publishing it, and there never seems to be any rhyme or reason that I’ve been able to observe.

@Mr. Mack: we have a troll who comes around and preaches bad news worst candidate DOOOOM! periodically.

@piratedan: Sounds not too different from Texas. I’ve got several friends who tell me that Texas will be the last state to legalize. I’ve told them on numerous occasions they are crazy…this is still a Ron Paul state, with decriminalization already starting (getting pulled over in Harris County – Houston – with IIRC 2 oz or less results in a citation and community service, but no jail) Plus, the last state to legalize will probably be Utah anyway.
Interestingly enough, I tell people that Mississippi will legalize pretty quickly, and they think *I’m* crazy. But look at their penalties compared to their neighbors…very uncharacteristic for a Bible Belt state. And when more states start making money on it, no way they’re going to do nothing; it’s the riverboat casino of the next decade.
sukabi
@Jeffro: yes it IS too much to ask of them. You’ve got to remember that BOTH of these clown are interested in:
1) personal interests first
2) party interests second
3) suppressing Democratic votes / voters
4) Big business interests
And soMewhere down the list comes country.
Mai.naem.mobile
@Prescott Cactus: I hope Trump’s Anti-Midas touch touches McCain and Arpaio. The biggest going away gift Arizona could give Obama is seeing McCain lose his seat(and his shit.)

I can almost never edit posts any more. I’m on Chrome on Win10-AU. Using uBlock Origin, Cleek’s Pie Filter with Greasemonkey, Flashcontrol.
I previously thought my old nym (I’mNotSureWhoIWantToBeYet) might be an issue with the apostrophe, but that didn’t seem to be the case.
I’ll post this, then try edits…
[edit:] Simply adding a line of text in an edit.
[edit2:] Google has all the answers.

@Another Scott: Well, it looks like I can edit with URLs now too.
Dunno. Maybe it’s fixed?!?!? Has the FYWP Monster been slain?!?!?
Thanks!
Cheers,

ETA: Edited test added.
ETA2: Edited to wonder if I should ‘Request Deletion’?
ETA3: No problems, really. But I type all my HTML raw, so there’s that, and I’m not editing in a mobile app that might add exciting invisible bonus chars.

@Major Major Major Major:
Only needs to be corrected to worst (or second worst) Democratic candidate this decade.
Ceci n'est pas mon nym
Here is a test comment.
And here is some text added in editing. Will I be thrown into moderation?
Ceci n'est pas mon nym
@Ceci n’est pas mon nym: I tried to edit my now-moderated comment but the edit was lost. It said it saved successfully but doesn’t show the updates.
I wanted to add the address string Google reports:
“2600:1003:b01e:135d:9cc4:ef79:469b:72d8
Your public IP address”
The moderate-after-edit symptom happens on all browser and OS environments I’ve tried.
Another Scott
@Ceci n’est pas mon nym: Have you tried using a nym without an apostrophe? That might be the common issue we had (I’m formerly I’mNotSureWhoIWantToBeYet).
Good luck.
Cheers,
Scott.
Ceci n'est pas mon nym
@Another Scott: yes, my old nym was “Randy P” and suddenly one day had the symptom that no comments showed up at all. Ever. Hence the new nym, which means “this is not my nym”.
Ceci n'est pas mon nym
@Another Scott: However, you may have just identified why Major^4’s lexical analysis page doesn’t like me. I have the only nym I’ve found which will not show a graph when I click on it.

I’m….not exactly happy? to know that other people have been having the same issue I did (reader for years, commenter never, because of said problem), but reassuring that it wasn’t just a freak occurrence for me. Alain got everything straightened out quick-like (thanks again, btw!)
