Isn’t this her third press conference in 3 days?
Also note not one question about email. Progress!
Adam L Silverman
@Trentrunner: She’s done press gaggles, basically an informal press conference/presser, on her campaign plane all week since allowing the press to travel with her.

Remember: Speaking to black and Hispanic journalists does not count.
Hal
Meh. I’m optimistic. Clinton gets the press to warm up to her, Trump comes off as unhinged on foreign policy and Gary Johnson doesn’t know what Allepo is or where. Could be a good week for Clinton.
Miss Bianca
@Hal:
I’m gonna keep breathing over here.

I like how Andrea Mitchell got up and wandered off at the 11:14 mark.
ETA: Apparently she was moving in to position to ask a question.
MattF
If you grit your teeth and read it for the information, this post by Erick Erickson is quite interesting.
Trentrunner
Boy, that first question–“If Trump is as bad as you say, why aren’t you ahead by more?”–really demonstrates Hillary’s restraint and self-control.
Because her answer should have been:
“Because you fuckwits make up shit and then repeat that shit like it’s truth and you do it every day for weeks months and years. Anyone subject to that would be running only 2-3 points ahead against Satan himself. Also, go fuck yourselves.”
p.a.
Did H have any response to Trump’s really-long-straw-with-lots-of-twisties plan to get the oil?
Her prep team is letting ber down!
Patricia Kayden
@Trentrunner: I’m surprised that despite all the media fluffing, Trump isn’t way ahead of Clinton. Just goes to show that many people have made up their minds about who they are going to vote for independent of the “liberal” media. Thank goodness for the many blogspots like this where Trump is pilloried for the dangerous bigot he is.
amk
A dumbass reporter, (a woman, no less, jeez) asked about that dumbass rnc pr bs’s sexist smile comment and hillz stuck the shiv to him as well as donnie dick.
Trentrunner
@amk: Yes, there were several different burns given by Hillz in this conference.
Btw, everyone should check out what Obama had to say today about Trump. Among other things, Obama called out the media for “normalizing” Trump. Good on him.

@p.a.: Didn’t come up. I’ll have a post either later today or tomorrow on Iraq’s oil. Because I actually know something about this. One of the things I know is that every map showing Iraq’s oil reserves and fields posted since last night is incorrect. I have the original survey map done in the 1920s when the Seven Sisters oil companies were first mapping out the reserves in the Middle East and elsewhere. I had this map validated in 2007 by a former Iraqi government official who worked in this sector for Saddam Hussein and had taken his family and fled to the US after being jailed by Saddam, then freed and rehabilitated by Saddam (Saddam was a bit fickle…).

@Trentrunner:
Thank you, Obama! Every day, one of Clinton’s surrogates need to hammer this point. Trump is not the same as Romney or McCain, as awful as they were. He’s uniquely dangerous to our democracy because of his lack of self-control, bigotry and associations. Even Republicans have pointed this out.
Miss Bianca
@Trentrunner: I’d pay to see that. And then play it over and over again.
craigie
@MattF:
It’s not ironic – it’s the difference between grifting and actually trying to do the right thing.

I was unhinged! Moe Larry cheese!
Jeffro
@Trentrunner:
I’m telling y’all, we’re just a week or two away from Obama spelling it out for the fourth-graders that iz our media: “The guy’s a fucking idiot”
Jeffro
@Patricia Kayden:
Dallas paper yesterday came out for Clinton, first D endorsement since before WWII.
I think the Houston paper came out today calling Trump a “threat to the republic”
Jeffro
Btw not only is Jennifer Rubin out there with “Trump flunks the commander-in-chief test” today, but inside her article, she notes how Trump said he’d have a great relationship with Russia and Putin…”If he says great things about me, I’m going to say great things about him”…that Trump’s sole concern is himself; the interests of the United States don’t come into consideration.
I mean, it’s a great point no matter who makes it…

@p.a.:
Great comment :)

Did anyone notice the similarity between a Clinton presser and a Donald one.
Smedley Darlington Prunebanks (Formerly Mumphrey, et al.)
Does anybody but reporters even give a shit about press conferences? All they’re going to do is ask about her fucking e-mails, and ask her why she’s such an uppity bitch and why she hates them all and doesn’t respect the press and lame ass shit like that. Why should she even bother? If we had a press worth the fucking name, I’d feel otherwise. But these clowns are worthless. I leave Rachel Maddow and Chris Hayes and Paul Krugman and Joy Reid and a few others out when I call the press worthless, but the people who are worth a shit aren’t taken seriously.
shomi
@p.a.: Lol, yet another random internet person who thinks they know how to run a presidential campaign better than Clinton and her advisors. This is like Ball Juice 2012. Same shit, different democrat.
cleek
OT-ish…
for all the talk of ‘conflict of interest’ around the Clinton Foundation and hypothetical President HRC, has anyone ever asked Trump if he’ll be stepping down from all of his myriad business interests should he win?
i know there hasn’t been any breathless speculation about what happens if he doesn’t step down…
Immanentize
@amk: I think it was an excellent question for Hillary and may have even been cued up given how excellent her answer was. Don’t be harsh on reporters who give Hillary a softball….
Immanentize
@cleek: Because no one thinks — even at this late point — that Trump will ever have to face that choice. I am not quite so sanguine.
Uncle Cosmo
@MattF: Interesting article. I particularly appreciated the valedictory:
Weeeeel…it is & it isn’t. It isn’t in the way Eric son of Eric thinks.
What’s a rich ;^D irony is that what’s happening to the RNC illustrates precisely how crony-corpitalism* operates: Scream your head off about “free markets” & “competition” when you’re on the outside trying to get into a business…but the minute you make it up the ladder, pull it up behind you by cutting inside deals & cranking up entry costs.
It’s the logical conclusion to an economic ethos wherein the sole object is to make money as quickly & securely as possible. RNC gets screwed in the process? Tough titty, Rancid!

@shomi: au contraire Bamz & team followed our instructions to the letter; results are clear. Then they arrogantly freelanced the midterms: catastrophe! Hilz team has been dutifully informed.

@cleek: He may have said that his family will run the company(s). That is hands off in his mind.
MattF
@cleek: I’ve read that he will let his spawn run Trump Inc. And they will be able to act entirely independent of daddy, needless to say.
shomi
While you pantswetters are running around complaining about NYT not doing it’s job…WaPo is doing it’s job.
MattF
@shomi: Learn to spell, fer fuck’s sake. OK?
schrodinger's cat
@Trentrunner: The media is afraid of Trump because he is a bully. They can’t stand up to him because they are cowards.
KlareCole
@Adam L Silverman: Also Adam, Rachel Maddow said that Isis was using the oil fields in Syria, not Iraq, which was a further twist on what Trump doesn’t know. Will look for your post on the Iraq info.
KlareCole
@cleek: Seems to me that Trumps businesses, massive debt to China & Russia and his narrow list of lenders who will still lend, i.e. Putin, should become a steady drumbeat. The CGI conflict for Hillary is such malarkey. Trump has profound conflicts of interests that are way below the radar, except for NYT, daaaays ago.
TriassicSands
Although I know it wouldn’t make any difference to the morons and lunatics who are supporting Trump, I don’t understand why Clinton has avoided giving press conferences. She comes across as personable, knowledgeable, and totally ready to be president. Yes, the media representatives are childish and unfair, but she really can shine in a press conference and I think she has made a mistake in going so long without a formal press conference. If the way to campaign is to do what you’re good at, she should have been having regular press conferences.
@Hal:
The problem is that so many of the people supporting Trump are unhinged themselves and those supporting Johnson also don’t know, nor care, where Aleppo is. It’s scary and sad.
rikyrah
@Patricia Kayden:
true that.
